Chapter 18

Revelations of the soul....

Yuka's ears perked at the sounds of someone approaching. She notices as Shippo stills and sniffs the air, he the proceeds to get ready to pounce on a certain couple.

Shaking her head with quiet laughter she watches as the fox barrels himself into the arms of her dear friend.

"KAGOME!"

She watches as the young woman chuckles and gives him a gentle hug. Watching as Inuyasha growls a little bit at the young one, Kagome gives him this look of don't even, but it's too late.

Shippo had already made a face at the hanyou and right now the kit was getting pounded on the head.

"OOOWWW KAGOME!"

"INUYASHA SIT!"

Trying to hold back the laughter as the prayer beads react, Yuka slaps her hand over her face as the threesome recommence arguing. But, somehow as she looks at each and every one, she sees light hearted warmth and the radiant smile from within each and everyone.

"So much like I remember..."

"Child?" Kaede says quietly as she sneaks up on the young demoness.

"Oh nothing Kaede..." Yuka replies quickly. Kaede simply responds by raising an eyebrow. Yuka shakes her head silently...."Can't say...."

"It's all right dear, Kagome said the same thing a long time ago...we do not desire to mess up the future..."

"Thank you..." She smiles and then jumps a bit as she hears Inuyasha yell.

"WENCH!"

"SIT!"

They turn to look at one another as Shippo joins them. Shaking their head, Yuka looks to Shippo and the elder woman. "I must return to the well, my parents will be coming for me..."

"I shall go with you and Shippo can protect us...." Kaede states as Shippo puffs out his chest, proudly. "Besides they will be at it for a while..."

"Somehow that doesn't surprise me...they must really love each other." Yuka laughs as she, Kaede and Shippo head out of the hut.

"Indeed child...indeed"

As they walk away the fight continues between Kagome and Inuyasha for another twenty minutes, when they finally notice, that the others have left.

"They left?" Kagome looks around quizzically.

"Yuka is gone as well, she probably went back to the well." Inuyasha notices as he can't find any trace of the demoness. "Think the well will let her through without us?"

Kagome gazes at him thoughtfully. About to answer she is silenced as his lips; claim hers in a devastating kiss.

"Inuyasha?" She replies breathlessly and he just taps her nose with a claw.

"Had to do that..."

Stupefied, Kagome allows herself to be dragged out by Inuyasha and the two head back to the well. Realizing that she is quiet, Inuyasha realizes and smirks at his new way to keep Kagome by his side.

"I just have to kiss her...."

Elsewhere as the others head towards the well to return before too long, a certain monk was getting tied up by an irate demon slayer, fresh from her bath.

"KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF ME YOU LECHER!"

"Sango I didn't mean to I was asleep..."

"When you were supposed to be on the look out!"

Miroku protests which earns him nothing but a glare as the young woman mutters a few unladylike things, while she finishes tying him up. Some of which he hopes she doesn't intend to complete..... "Sango please untie me...."

"Forget it Monk....you are staying right there."

"Sango...please?" He asks her, his eyes gazing at hers with an almost begging motion. She fights the urge to do just that and to kiss him senseless while she is at it. But deep down, she knows it won't do any good. She still remembers, something Kagome told me about in her time, that Miroku reminded her of....what was the word...

"A PLAYER!"

Miroku looks at her strangely.

"Player?"

"I was just thinking monk, Kagome said that you reminded her of something from her time...."

"Oh?"

"Yes you reminded her of a person that she called a player. Someone who flirts often with those of the opposite sex...."

Miroku looks at this confusedly. "But I don't...."

"Oh yes you do Miroku...how many women this past month have you propositioned with your `will you bear my child' phrase? Even if we did beat Naraku...how many?"

Miroku looks chagrined. "Too Many..."

Sango looks surprised as she half expected the monk to deny it even further, but is impressed by his own realization. She is stunned a little bit when he asks her something.

"Sango, if I asked you....would you...."

"Would I what Miroku?"

"Would you bear my child?" Miroku asks as he stares at her. Half in fear and half in hope of what her answer will be, Sango words her answer carefully.

"Miroku to be honest...I want to..."

"You do?" Miroku replies with a look of love and hope, that she is relieved to see, but with her next words, she knows it will be gone...

"I can't Miroku...."

Shocked and his eyes reflecting the pain in his heart as he barely whispers out the next word.

"Why?"

"You already know Miroku....I was raised in a family full of love and devotion....and loyalty. How can I trust you, when you all but practically propose to any woman we come across? I don't know if you can remain faithful Miroku....To be truthful...I don't think you can...."

Miroku listens and looks away. Wanting to reach out to him, despite him being tied up, she remains where she is and does nothing. Looking away, she curls up with the blanket that was in their supplies after covering Miroku with one so that he doesn't get chilled. About twenty minutes later she is fast asleep....

After waiting a little while longer, Miroku turns to stare at the young woman who face, seems to be glowing in the warmth of their fire. He knows that no demons will bug them, for in the supplies was Sango's special powder, that once lit, does something to protect them all. So he takes the time to look and to think about her words....

"I don't know if you can be faithful Miroku...To be truthful...I don't think you can..."

"Sango I can be faithful...I love you...." He whispers brokenly. "But I don't know how to show it....or to prove it..."

He turns and looks into the fire sad and full of pain, unaware that someone who couldn't sleep either had listened and whispered. "I'm sorry..."

Back at the well, Yuka has just gone through as Inuyasha and Kagome approach.

"Greetings you have just missed her, she has gone home..."

"So she was able to get through?" Kagome asks.

"Indeed..."

"That's a relief..." Kagome replies as one concern had been whether or not Yuka would be able to return. "Did you get the glove for her?"

"Yes it is all ready child, I blessed it as well, but your powers are much stronger than mine. If you were to, then the glove would protect your young friend very much...."

Kagome nods her head as Inuyasha listens. Hopping over the small group, he looks to his angel, with a seductive grin and impish look to his eyes.

"You coming...."

Looking a little startled, the next few words causes her to smile. "You coming or what...I saw the note your mother left this morning...."

Watching as his eyes travel down her body, Kagome hurriedly says her goodbye's much to Kaede's amusement and allows Inuyasha to help her up and over into the well.

"Take care Inuyasha." Kaede says with a humorous look.

"FEH!" The hanyou replies with a grin and then he proceeds to turn and jump.

As they disappear into the blue light that is the well, Shippo looks to Kaede with a question.

"Why are they going back already?"

Kaede looks at him and with a wise advice and a smile on her cheeks, she replies in a tone that annoys the Kitsune to no end.

"When you are older child when you are older...."
