InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Tough Romantic ❯ Those Who Meet Eachother ( Chapter 3 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
The bell rang at 3 o' clock sharp, instructing the students to go home. Kagome dropped her books on her way out of the library.
“Jerk!” She yelled out to the guy who had bumped into her. Then she bent over to pick them up with a sigh.
As she was about to grab her science book, another hand beat her to it. She looked up and to her surprise she see the new guy helping her.
“Here.” He handed her, her science book. She looked from him to the science book.
“Thanks.” She said as she grabbed the book from his grasp and stood up.
“You look like quite the study nerd.” He smiled. She looked at him with disgust, “I like to get my education, thank you very much.” She shot back.
“I ment it as a compliment.” He laughed.
“Well it didn't sound like that to me.” She said as yet another guy, bumped her, dropping her books again. She stood there closing her eyes with her fists to the sides, “ARGH!”
He laughed, “You have a lot of books, here, I'll help you.” He bent down, picking them all up in a neat stack, holding them with one hand, in only a few seconds.
Kagome looked astonished, “How'd you-”
“A lot of working out. When you've had enough time as I have, there's nothing else better to do.” He said already starting to walk down the hall. She followed. There was a moment of silence.
“So are you new here?” Kagome asked, already knowing the answer.
“As a matter of fact, I just got here this morning.”
“Where from?”
“The other side of the city.” He laughed.
She stopped. He noticed and stopped a few feet in front of her, looking back to see her frightened. He fixed his eyes on her.
“Something wrong?” He asked. She looked frightened. He waited for an answer.
“You were born here, in Tokyo?” She finally said.
“Yeah, got a problem with that?” He asked, starting to walk again, watching her emotions as she caught up with him again.
“No.” She looked to the ground. “I just thought that you were from out of town, that's all.”
He chuckled, “No. I went to Ittou high, which is most defiantly on the opposite side of town. Until I was forced to come here.” He went into a small pout.
“What happened?”
He was quiet. She stopped again, and so did he. He decided not to look at her and sigh gratefully.
Kagome was about to say something when he quickly said, “I don't want to talk about it.” He looked to her with an apologetic smile.
Kagome smiled, walking again, but only two feet more.
“You sure like to stop a lot.” He teased. She smiled, almost laughing, “Umm, this is my locker.” She knocked on her locker door. He suddenly realized that and laughed along with her.
They giggled while he handed her, her books as she opened the locker.
“You know, you are the only person I've met all day that didn't show fear towards me.” He commented. She faced him fast, with a misunderstanding look.
“What I mean to say is,” He paused, trying to find words. “You're not like the other girls I've met.”
She smiled and turned back round to finish packing her things, “Coming from you, that's got to be the best comment I have ever gotten in my life.” She told him.
When she finished packing, she closed her locker and turned around quickly to notice that he was a little closer to her than she thought and as she gasped slightly, she noticed his eyes…Fragile yet, soothing and hard, they were so big. Golden; what an unusual color for the human eye. They were bright gold and fierce. Bold with detail.
They seemed to be in a trance, staring into each other's eyes.
Kagome almost dropped her handbag, but the strap slid from her shoulder, down to her elbow. She wouldn't stop staring; she was hypnotized.
He stared at her lips, fairly parted, flapping silently and slowly, like she was trying to find oratory.
“Kagome!” Eri yelled from the school doors, interrupting their connection. Startling Kagome, she fell back into her locker door creating that metal sound. She blinked repeatedly in confusion.
“Who is that?” He asked, covering his eyes from the light coming from the doors windows. It was hard to see someone when the light from behind the person was blinding you.
Kagome rushed to fix her backpack and closed it up. “Oh that's Eri, my friend. I forgot to meet her outside after school.” She finished packing and looked up at him with a comforting smile.
“Thank you…?”
“Inuyasha.” He finished her off, telling her his name.
“Inuyasha.” She repeated.
“It was nice meeting you, Miss Higurashi.” He held out his hand for a handshake. She slid her hand into his, then realized what he had said, “How'd you know my name?”
“I saw the tag on your backpack.” He told her.
“I see.”
“Kagome, hurry up, would ya?” Eri called.
“Coming!” She called back, “See you tomorrow?”
“See you tomorrow.” He agreed.
Kagome smiled one last time and made her way to the door.
“Kagome,” Eri whispered, “What were you doing talking to him? He could be bad news.”
“Oh come on Eri! You don't believe everything you hear do you? Besides, it's not like I'm actually going out with him. We just talked.”
“Kagome…” Eri stopped walking and looked at Kagome. Eri sighed, closing her eyes. “You're not falling for him are you?” She asked. Kagome looked at Eri like she was retarded, “What do you mean? All he did was carry my books. For a tough guy he sure is a gentleman.”
“He carried your books?” Eri seemed surprised at this.
“Yeah, some jerk bumped into me and he picked my books up and walked me to my locker.” They walked towards Kagome's car.
“Strange ya know? A guy like him all muscular and looking like a tough guy, actually soft inside. I guess that saying is true, never judge a book by its cover.” Kagome smiled at herself and opened her car door, along with Eri on the other side.
Kagome drove off to take Eri home and herself after wards.
