The Tragedy of Shikon

Earth was a long ways away in another galaxy, a planet over populated and corrupt with a matter of all evils, thousands, millions of light years away now considered a backwater planet. No, they thought it insufficient for what they wanted and decided to colonize another planet. A plant the same as Earth, with the same lush trees, flowing rivers and plentiful food native to the planet with one exception, the Virus. It infected every human with a particular gene called Demon. It was rare and hardly existed, the normal people stayed as they were and the new race, aptly named Demon after their curse started to breed and spread across the primitive planet. Another strain of gene was created, called Miko it was used in defense of the evil creatures. Slowly the demons over populated the Mikos 1 to 20. Humans fled taking their technology and precious metals with them until the last Star Cruiser deserted the planet and all its inhabitants. Few humans remained and the unlucky ones were used as fodder for the demons. The fleeing humans had dubbed it Shikon, jewel of the Four Souls, Human, Demon, Miko and another name forgotten in the records.

The demons gradually gained traits and developed specific breeds. Dogs, wolves, foxes, moths, spider, lizard, and dragon plus many more. Wolves remained true to the wild, talking or involving in any way with the humans or other breeds, they if wanted to looked like humans except for their ears which were pointed. Foxes learned the human tongue first and used it to play harmless and not so harmless tricks on the unwary humans, mostly staying in their true form when doing so. The bug demons were the nastiest of them, weaving traps and lies to catch unsuspecting prey, only a few had the power to have a human form and intelligence. The lizards were the dumbest while the dragons the strongest and biggest in their mutated forms. The dogs ruled over them, highest intelligence, speech, agility, strength, and as we would say they were the pick of the litter and retained much of the human traits in form. The normally had sharply pointed ears and some markings but otherwise looked like humans. The only difference was the huge dog shape they transformed into.

The last Star Cruiser left 500 years ago and now a ship was sitting at a distant docking bay awaiting the crew to man her on her journey to solve the mystery of the Tragedy of Shikon…
