Chapter Thiryty-five

Mika paced up and down the room, shushing her still unnamed grand-daughter. It had become increasingly diffuicult to sooth the crying child. She didn't need cleaning, she wasn't hungry, she was gettting a whole lot of attention. What was it?

Sesshoaru pulled a pillow over his head to try and block out the child's cries, but it just wasn't thick enough.

It had been three months since Raine's death and still Thor was depressed. He understood that his son was under emotional stress and was not yet over the death of his mate and was in no condtiton to care for a young child, but his son had not done anything for his pup.

All Thor did was lie in bed all day moping while Mika stressed herself out looking after his child. It was unfair to her and by extension, Sesshomaru.

Sesshomaru had enough! He jumped out of bed and took his grand-daughter from Mika. He slid open his bedroom door and went to Thor's room.

*oOo*

Thor lied on his bed, his hands tucked beneath his head as he started up at he ceiling thinking of Raine's smile. He missed her so much. She had passed so suddenly and he had no way of saving her.

Their relationship didn't really start until she left her husband. They were free to show the world how much they loved one another. No more secrets. That very same day, she was taken from him. Fate was an evil bitch.

This was indeed what fluffyouiki had meant by “ a great sorrow will befall you.” If only he had known before.

Thor bearly noticed when his father entered the roomo holding his daughter. Sesshomaru laid the crying child next to her father and placed a pillow beside her.

“It's time you took care of your child.” Sesshomaru said and left.

She continued to cry and thrash about. Thor contiued to ignore her, his mind still on Raine.

As time passed her crying became more and more annoying and it became increasingly hard to think of Raine. Finally he couldn't stand it anymore.

He sat up, bent his knees into a resemblence of a hill and placed his daughter in his lap, her feet in his stomach and her head on his thighs.

“What do you want?” Thor asked the crying infant. She continued to cry.

Thor held back his head, trying to think of what to do but nothing came to mind. If Raine were there she would have known what to do. He brought back down his head and some of his hair fell over his shoulder and onto his daughter. When his hair tumbled into her face she quieted down and started playing with it.

“You like that?” Thor asked and threw all of his hair over his shoulder for her to play with.

Soon his daughter started cooing and for the first time...she smiled.

“You just wanted your father didn't you,” He touched his nose to hers and inhaled her scent. “You smell just like your mother,” He smiled. “I'll name you Sakura.” He said.

Soon enough, Sakura fell asleep. Thor laid her down on the bed and went over to the mirror. Apparently his daughter was in love with his hair.

He picked up a thong from his dresser. Then, using his claws he cut his knee length silver and gold locks to shoulder length. He went over to his bed and laid next to Sakura, draping his hair over her stomach.

*oOo*

Later, Mika went to check on Thor. She slid the door open just enough to peek inside.

What she saw made her heart swell. Thor laid asleep next to his daughter with his hand draped over her in such a cute and protective manner that it brought tears to her eyes.

“You know I despise spying.” Mika jumped when she heard Sesshomaru behind her.

“I'm just checking up on him.” She said.

“You need not worry about him; he is our son after all.” Sesshomaru said.

Mika smiled.
