Chapter Thirty-four
He sat at the base of the sakura blossom tree. The birds singing their cheerful morning songs, the cloudless sky allowing the sun to shine down upon him with even more spleadour, the wind coming in the most perfect of breezes; caressing his skin with the lightest touch, one that only a lover could provide. The wind shook the leaves for him and they made such a claming sound that he could only close his eyes and sway.
It was such a beautiful day.
He opened his eyes to look at the object of his affection; his daughter. Only a few days old and already he was so attached to her that he felt he knew her for a lifetime. He stroked her smooth, flawless cheek with his index finger and she made a weird sound that a baby would make when satisfied. At the moment she was sleeping and she looked so at peace; like an angel. She had been born with a full head of hair; as black and as smooth as her mother's and the cutest dog ears he had ever seen.
She would come at sit next to him; she being the woman he loved and adored more than anything. She would squeal and brood over how beautiful their daughter was and how happy she was that they were finally a family. She would stroke their daughter's cheek in the same way he had, but softer. Gentler. The child would stir and awaken. Those big grey eyes she inherited drinking everything in.
His mate would look at him and in those same grey eyes he would see a love deeper than any of the world's oceans or volcanoes and he would kiss her and everything would be alight.
Sad that it was all only a dream.

Mika slowly and gently laid her grand-daughter onto the bed, making sure not to wake her. She placed a pillow on her left and one on her right which was probably unnecessary since she had not turned over as yet and would more than likely not roll of the bed, but she just wanted to be safe. For the past few days, she'd been such a good child and Mika had grown to love her so very much as did Sesshomaru, Shiaka and Malique. Thor on the other hand...
Not once had Thor seen the child since the day she was born, about three days prior. He spent all this time in his room with the door locked. The poor boy just shut out everyone completely.
The first day or Shiaka and Mika tried to reason with him. They begged him to come out of his room but it was useless. Not even on the day of the memorial, which in essence did not exist; it was only a ploy to get him to come out of his room, he did not leave. It was saddening. She often wondered what he could possibly be doing in there all alone.

He sat on his bed, legs drawn to his chest, arms wrapped around them and his chin resting on his knees as he stared at the floor. He was thinking about nothing; his mind had gone completely blank. He had spent every second thinking of Raine and now he had nothing to think about. A smile was always plastered on his face when he was around her and now he had no reason to smile. She was his joy and now he had no reason to be happy. She was his life and now he had to reason to live.
He felt so lost; he had no clue what to do now that she was not in his life anymore. It just felt so weird not being anxious about receiving her letter, waiting around all day for Jiro's scent to drift into his bedroom and taking in her scent that masked very single letter in every single word.
She wasn't there for him to love or shower with gifts and most importantly she wasn't there for their daughter. To share with him her first smile, first time she turned over, first bath, first word, first step, her first love, all of her firsts. She was missing everything and why? Because she died! Why in ama's name did she have to die? What transgression did she or even he himself commit that she had to die?
It was unfair! Completely and totally unfair! He was so happy, so very very happy and all his joy and happiness was just stripped from him for no apparent reason what so ever. Why were the gods being so cruel to him? Why did they feel the need to torure him so? Why? It was all he could ask.
Thor started to sob for the umpteenth time in...he didn't even know how long. Tears of what should have been joy seared the skin of his face; burning his sadness into his features. His Raine was gone and he couldn't bring her back.

Yosuke sat in the back of the wagon he had hitched a ride on after he ran away from the village. He had no clue where he was going but he knew where ever they took him, he would start over with a new life in a new village.
He ran his fingers through his hair. So much had happened to him in the past few days. He lost his wife, his child, his mother, his home. He had lost everything.
Raine's death still hadn't sunk in and it still hurt like he'd been hit with the hilt of a sword in his gut. Her infidelity was still in the fore front of his mind as well. She hand meant so much to him and he so little to her. All he wanted was to make her happy, but in the end it looked like he rally couldn't; he wasn't the one she loved and thus he could not fulfill her desires.
He sighed and buried his face in his hands.
“Ow!” He said when the wagon fell into a pot hole, making him hit his head.
“Sorry.” The young lady driving the wagon said when she looked back at Yosuke.
Yosuke had to admit though, that she was attractive.
The day she picked him up, walking along the road completely lost, he couldn't have hoped for anyone else to have found him. She had brown hair, that stopped just above her perfectly round behind, tied in a braid allowing the full beauty of her face to be shown. She had the biggest brown eyes he had every seen and eye lashes so long and thick that when she blinked there was a gust of wind. Her lips were of the darkest pink and fuller than any he had seen. Her skin was pale to the point that it almost looked white. Her name was Mitsuki.
“You must be hungry. Let's stop and get something to eat shall we?” Mitsuki said.

Mika stood by the window, looking out at the moon; too tired to sleep. Sesshomaru stood behind her with his arms around her waist and his usual stoic expression glued onto his face.
“I'm not too sure Thor will be able to get through this Sesshomaru, at least not alone.” Mika said worried and on the verge of tears.
“As much as I'd hate to say it; I think so too.” Sesshomaru told his Mika.
Hearing her mate say those words made Mika even more scared than ever. Sesshomaru always told her “Thor will be fine” or “He's our son, he will be okay” and she always believed him and he was always right. His words always brought her some level of comfort but now he too was doubting their son's strength. If Sesshomaru felt that way then it had to be serious.
Mika turned around and buried her face in Sesshomaru's chest, wrapping her arms around him and resting her palms flat on his back as she started to sob.
“Oh Sesshie. I don't know what to to do. I don't know how to help our son.” She cried.
Sesshomaru stroked Mika's hair as he leaned down and rested his chin on her head. He closed his eyes and he pulled her closer to him. He too didn't know what to do to help his son; his usual agressive approach would do no good and he wasn't the type to be sensitive about it. He sighed. His son was in such a desperate situation. This was why he was wary of him having a realtionship with a human. He knew something bad would have happened. It couldn't be helped. The damage was already done.
