Chapter Thirty-three
Romy's eyes expanded to three times their normal size. Her palm was pressed against her reddened cheek and she was breathing heavily.
“You-you hit me.” She stuttered.
“I did.” Yosuke said calmy.
“Why Yosuke? Why did you hit your own mother?” Romy asked.
“You deserved -” Thor cut his sentence short.
Everyone's attention turned to the healer's room when the cry of a newborn child ripped through the air. Thor's chest filled with love, joy and pride. But something was wrong; he could feel it in his bones. He could sense it. He could feel it; slithering up his skin a the most frightening of ways.
He covered his nose with the sleeve of his kimono, the smell of amniotic fluid stronger than he would have liked, and slowly approached the closed door. Hesitantly, with tears welling up in his eyes, he reached out to slide open the door. Before his clawed fingers could even reach it, the door slid open and the healer stood before him with a mixed expression. It was then that he knew.
He didn't even notice that the healer was holding his child. Thor pushed past her and ran to Raine's side where her body was sprawled on the bed; limp and lifeless.
He placed his palm by her nose; he could feel no air. He held her wrist in his hand; he could feel no pulse. Out of desperation, he rested his head on her chest; he could hear no heart beat.
Thor took a deep breath to chase away the tears. There was no need to cry. He had a solution. He stood, calmly and walked outside. He took his child from the healer and turned to Yosuke.
“Raine is dead.” He said in a matter-of-fact sort of tone.
“She's..dead?” Yosuke asked, tears welling up in his eyes.
“Yeah.” Thor said looking down at his new daughter and smiling.
“How in yomi's name can you be so calm?” Yosuke shouted.
“Because I can bring her back to life.” Thor said looking up at Yosuke.
Yosuke dropped to his knees. Bring her back to life? That was impossible! Raine was gone; she wasn't coming back. She was dead and there was nothing he or the Prince of the West could do.
“I'm taking my daughter home, when I return I assure you Raine will be alive and kicking.” Thor said with a smile on his face.
Before Yosuke could put in his two cents worth on how much he did not believe Thor, the prince was on Jiro's back heading towwards ther House of the Moon.

Once again Shiaka was at her bedroom window. Still watching the storm aprroach and still waiting on Thor. It was only because of her and her twin brother's manipulation of the weather that the storm had been held back, but they could not keep it up for much longer, their powers could only do so much; it wasn't like they were gods who could make the storm itself disappear.
She sighed. Where could he be? In about the past hour to hour and a half, that feeling that she had; the one that warned her that something was wrong with Thor, had intensified. That could only mean that whatever it was could only be drawing closer or that it had already happened.
Malique didn't even bother to knock, he just walked right into the room as if it were his and sat on the window sil in front of Shiaka. They didn't need to speak, they could pretty much tell what the other was thinking. The entire palace's atmosphere was heavy and humid with worry. More so from the twins and Mika than from Sesshomaru, he seemed as calm as ever.
Malique and Shiaka bolted straight up. They quickly turned to each other and before a word could be muttered between the two of them they were dashing out of the room and heading for the main gate.
Shiaka's face lit up with joy and most of all relief when she saw her big brother coming in on Jiro's back. She gasped and started jumping up and down screaming when she realized that in his arms he held a hanyou child and a new born at that.
“ Dear Kami is my nose deceiving me or is he really carrying a child in his arms?” Mika asked, tears in her eyes.
Shiaka looked around at her mother and wondered : “Where the hell did she come from?”
The moment Jiro's gigantic claws hit the ground in the courtyard Mika and Shiaka rushed to hug their son and brother.
“Oh my. Is this your baby onii-san?” Shiaka asked taking the child from Thor.
“Hai, she is mine.” Thor said with pride and a big smile on his face.
“A girl? Oh she's precious.” Mika said looking down at her new grand-daughter.
Thor left his mother and sister to swoon over his daughter.
“Looks like someone's been very busy.” Malique said.
“Where's father?” Thor asked.
Malique pointed in the direction of the dojo.

Sesshomaru sat in the middle of the dojo, inhaling the calming scent of the lavender incense. He needed to realax. The entire palace was filled to capacity with worry and he couldn't stand being around it all. He needed to clear his head, away from all that negative energy.
He had sensed when his son had arrived and he had also sensed he hanyou child, but he did not leave. It wasn't that he didn't care; he still needed his twenty minutes away from everyone. It didn't seem that would last because now he sensed his son coming.
“I need the Tenseiga.” Thor said.
Sesshomaru opened one of his eyes and looked his son up and down; from head to toe. He had sensed his son anxiety from the very beginning and now looking, at him, his entire body exhibited his anxiety; the way he stood, the expression on his face, the look in his eyes. He could only wonder why his son would need the Tenseiga so desperately and at present he didn't want to know, but eventually he would get around to asking. Sesshomaru sighed.
“You know where it is.” He said and closed his eye. Sesshomaru had not the heart to tell him that one important piece of information.

Yosuke was on his knees next to Raine's dead body, holding her hand in his and stroking the nearly cold, almost blue skin. He could not believe it, not now, not ever. She couldn't be dead. She couldn't be. His love, his life, his world was Raine, without her he was nothing. Without her he coud not survive. She was his light and his everything, She couldn't be dead, she just coudln't be.
Romy stood by the door, hands folded. Well now she felt like the lowest of the low. All those terrible things, she thought, said and did to Raine all seemed trivial. The girl was dead and now her son was hurting more than ever before. She did not know that things would have turned out this way, she could never have guessed. She realized now how much Yosuke had needed Raine and if only she had realized before how happy the girl had made her son she would never have tried to expose the affair. Her son was happy and joyful without the knowledge and now he was in despair.
She held her head down and covered her face with her hands. It was all so trivial.
“Excuse me.” She heard Thor say and lifted her head to see how he would “ressurect” her daughter-in-law; well ex-daughter-in-law now.
“Yosuke, you're going to have to move.” Thor said placing his hand gently on the man's shoulder.
“You can't bring her back.” Yosuke said.
Thor immediately knew it would be futile to try and get Yosuke away from Raine so he decided to let the man be. He took a deep breath. He never used the Tenseiga before and was very unsure, but he went over what his father told him he did when he used the sword, years and years ago when he first asked, and followed every little detail and when he was done, he waited.
He expected Raine's skin to turn pink and for her to open her eyes or start gasping for air, but nothing happened. She laid there the same as he left her minutes ago, in the same exact postion with the calm expression on her face. Nothing had changed.
He repeated the procedure. He waited. The same result.
“Dammit Teseiga why won't you work?” Thor asked through gritted teeth.
Thor dropped the sword and fell to his knees. What was he doing wrong? He did everything like he remembered. Did he remember wrong? He never had a bad memory. What was it? Could this be the great sorrow fluffyouiki told him of?
“Why won't it work. Why isn't it working?” Thor asked in a low voice.
Yosuke sniffled. The dam that held back his tears finally broke. Even though he had been telling Thor that Raine could not be brought back, there was still a little part of him that hoped that Thor could. Now, he saw that his logical half was right. She could not be brought back. It was useless to even try. She was gone, really gone and he still couldn't believe it.
“I told you.” Yosuke said.
Thor balled his hands into a fist, diggging his claws into the flesh. She was dead. Really and truly dead. She couldn't be brought back.
Suddenly the temperture in the room increased dramatically. Yosuke took of his haori but the room only seemed to get hotter. He looked up to Thor and gasped when he saw the floor boards all around him were scorched. The air around him rippled with heat and his hair danced about him in a wind that no one else could feel and his face; his eyes were red and the marks on his face were more jagged than before. When Thor stood up and started walking towards Raine, Yosuke backed away from the body; for the closer Thor got to him, the hotter it became. Suddenly afraid, Yosuke got up and ran.
Thor picked up Raine's dead body. The heat he generated burned off all her clothes. She was such a beautiful person; inside and out. Why did she have to die? Why did she have to leave him? He leaned down and kissed her forehead, her skin was burned. Steam rose from his face; the tears evaporated the moment they left their duts. Thor took a deep breath.
The moment Thor opened his mouth and roared, a great fire erupted from his body, searing off his clothes and reducing Raine's body to ashes in an instant. The fire spread out in every direction and destroyed Yosuke's home in an instant. Flames engulfed in flames and in its place stood a huge dog, about five storeys high, with gold and silver fur and eyes of the deepest sapphire blue.
Thor opened his massive jaws and spit fire on every and anything in his immidiate line of sight. Screams from all the terrified villlagers carrried on the wind as they fled for their lives; many not being succesful, Romy being one of them. Yosuke, fortunately survived.
Thor took a deep breath, opening his jaws and randomly spitting fire in every direction, not caring who he hurt or killed or what he destroyed. He had gone completely out of control.
Suddenly he felt a stinging pain on his right hind leg. He growled and turned around to face whoever dared attack him. He charged and was met by three more stinging pains in his right front leg, left hind and left front leg. Before he knew, Thor was feeling dizzy and reverting back to his humanoid form.
On his knees in the middle of the burnt down village, Thor looked around to see who his attacker was but his vision was so clouded that he couldn't make out who it was and in no time at all he fell forward into unconciousness.
“Is he okay?” Shiaka asked.
“He will be fine, the whip wasn't enough to kill him.” Sesshomaru answered. He felt something cold fall on his hand and slide down his fingers and off his claw. He looked up and thousands upon thousands of tiny little droplets battered his face.
Romy's eyes expanded to three times their normal size. Her palm was pressed against her reddened cheek and she was breathing heavily.
