Chapter Nine

The next three days of Kagome's life were by far the longest three days she could remember experiencing in quite a while, and it wasn't a good three days either. She frequently found herself gazing at the hated clock, wishing that the hour hand would move with each passing moment instead of the minute's hand. She couldn't concentrate on her work, couldn't eat much, and couldn't do much of anything for that matter. Her only sanctuary had been sleep, where Inuyasha was always with her. In her dreams, Inuyasha held her in his arms when she wanted to be held, kissed her passionately when she wanted to be kissed, and made sweet love to her when she wanted his love. More often than not, she awoke feeling dejected because, after all, it was just a dream.

Sure, Kagome had spent time with Inuyasha in school. She had eaten lunch him and talked with him on several occasions. The only problem was, they were never alone. Sango and Ayame were always around when they ate lunch or when they were spoke to each other. She yearned to spend time with him, and only him, not that her friends weren't desirable company, but she needed to know that she had Inuyasha's full and undivided attention. Kagome became subconsciously possessive of Inuyasha and had been since they had shared their first dance together. Perhaps she felt insecure; she had noticed far too many women giving him appreciative glances. Whatever the reason, Kagome impatiently awaited the arrival of Saturday, the day when she would finally get some alone time with the man that occupied her thoughts and dreams constantly. Kagome was grateful, however, that it was currently Friday.

“Class dismissed,” her Calculus professor announced, indicating the end of her final class of the day.

`Thank Kami,' Kagome thought.

“Kagome,” Inuyasha called.

Kagome turned around to address the voice that had called her name.

“Hm?” she asked.

“I'll pick you up at five tomorrow. Sound good?” Inuyasha asked.

“Yeah.” Kagome answered, but her thoughts certainly contradicted what she said.

`Five? I can't wait that long to see him!'

“All right then, I'll see you tomorrow.”

***********

Kagome could hardly wait another minute, let alone another five hours. Why couldn't he have scheduled the date five hours earlier? Kagome mentally kicked herself for thinking such a foolish thought. She had awakened at nine in the morning even though it was a Saturday, too anxious to sleep much. The better part of her morning was spent searching her closet for something to wear. Three hours later, she still didn't deem any outfit suitable to her tastes. In all actuality, Kagome could have worn any outfit and she would have looked just fine, if not gorgeous. However, she took it upon herself to wear an outfit that would impress Inuyasha, make him look at her appreciatively. Kagome wanted his eyes on her the entire time, wanted to be the only woman he would desire, wanted to be the only woman he would ogle. So far, she couldn't find any outfit that could accomplish that task, in her opinion anyway. Anyone else could have informed her that she looked stunning in any outfit.

After yet another hour of searching, she finally came across something she might consider wearing. It was a simple red dress that reached about mid-thigh. She didn't recall ever wearing it before. Perhaps there was never a right occasion to wear such a lavish dress, but if there ever was a right occasion to wear it, this had to be it. She just hoped Inuyasha would like it. The more she thought about him, the more she hoped that they would develop a lasting relationship. She really wanted this to work out.

***********

Inuyasha looked at his clock for the umpteenth time. Why had he chosen to pick her up at five? Then again, the plans and reservations he had made centered around the evening hours; there would be no sense in taking her out and doing nothing for several hours. But if he had, he wouldn't be sitting his apartment waiting for the clock to strike five. Inuyasha realized how much he enjoyed her company, how much he had reveled in it. Without her, he would still be the cynical shell of a man that Kikyo had left in shambles. When Kagome had entered his life, that had all changed. Inuyasha could hardly believe it was barely a week since they first saw each other. Their relationship was progressing quite rapidly, yet not fast enough in his opinion. If it were up to him, Kagome would be his arms every minute of every day. Checking the time once more, Inuyasha was grateful that it read four-thirty.

`I hope she's ready,' Inuyasha thought. `I don't think I can wait any longer.'

***********

Kagome was ready to go; in fact, she was more than ready. She had been awaiting his arrival ever since four o'clock, hoping that Inuyasha had decided to show up early. No such luck. So she waited until she heard the sound of her doorbell ringing. She spared a glance at her digital clock, and it read 5:00 PM in bright red digits.

`At least he's on time,' Kagome thought, looking at herself in the mirror one last time.

When she opened her front door, she gasped at the sight of Inuyasha. He wore a blue dress shirt with black slacks and leather shoes. However, it wasn't his clothes that made her gasp; it was how he looked in them.

`Kami, he's hot,' Kagome thought, incapable of speech at the moment.

Inuyasha had nearly the same reaction to Kagome when she opened her door. The little red dress she wore hugged her in all the right places, accentuating her long, silky legs for his viewing pleasure. She chose to wear a pair of two-inch heels to finish off her look.

`Kami, she's hot,' Inuyasha thought. However, he managed to regain his speech before Kagome did.

“Ready to go?” Inuyasha asked.

“Yeah,” Kagome replied.

Inuyasha led Kagome to his car and drove off.

“Where are we going?”

“You'll see.”

Inuyasha parked his car near a movie theater packed with hordes and hordes of people. Apparently, a movie premiere was commencing.

“Wow, you were invited to a movie premiere?” Kagome asked.

“Not exactly. My dad was invited, but he didn't want to go, so here we are.” Inuyasha confessed.

“What movie is it?” she asked curiously.

“I actually don't know. It's some movie they filmed in the States. It's supposed to be really good. Come on, we don't want to be late.”

The movie lived up to its expectations, but Inuyasha and Kagome weren't paying attention to the movie so much as they were sneaking glances at each other. Inuyasha could barely see Kagome because of how dark the theater actually was, but Kagome made out Inuyasha's features just fine. His silver tresses and his brilliant amber eyes sharply contrasted the darkness around him, and they stood out for Kagome to admire.
When his eyes were focused on her, she didn't avert her gaze because she realized he couldn't quite see her. Instead, she stared deeper into his amber orbs, trying to see deep into his soul.

***********

“That was a good movie,” Kagome said, trying to initiate some sort of conversation while Inuyasha was driving through the streets of Tokyo.

“Really? I didn't like it so much.” Inuyasha commented.

“Why not?”

“It wasn't realistic.”

“How so?”

“There was a happy ending. I'm tired of always seeing happy endings.”

“Well, I like happy endings.”

“Is that so?”

“Yep. Where are we going now?”

“Dinner.”

When Inuyasha had said they were going to dinner, Kagome wasn't expecting anything fancy, let alone the most luxurious restaurant in all of Tokyo. Inuyasha certainly wasn't frugal; she had figured that much.

“I've never been here before,” Kagome said, admiring the scenery. The top floor of the restaurant overlooked the city of Tokyo as well as the shore, and that was where they sat. Inuyasha had made reservations to have a private table overlooking the city, knowing Kagome would like it.

“Ready to order?” a waitress asked.

“Um, not yet,” Inuyasha answered, noticing the perplexed look on Kagome's face.

As the waitress walked away, Kagome looked up from the menu and turned her head towards Inuyasha.

“What are all these dishes?” she asked, not recognizing any of the Japanese dishes on the menu.

“They're traditional Japanese dishes. It's the specialty at this restaurant.”

“What are you ordering?”

“Ramen.”

“They have that here?”

“They have everything here. Just ask.”

With that in mind, Kagome decided what she wanted to order: oden, her personal favorite. Their food arrived quickly, and Kagome was thankful for the restaurant's efficiency; she was starving. Apparently, Inuyasha was quite famished himself because he began gulfing down his Ramen noodles as soon as it had arrived, completely forgetting his table manners. Kagome couldn't help but laugh at the way Inuyasha ate his food. It was quite adorable, really.

“You really like Ramen, don't you?” Kagome asked, still chuckling at his eating antics.

“Mm hm,” Inuyasha answered, his mouth too full of Ramen to form coherent words.

After his fifth bowl of ramen, Inuyasha felt completely satisfied.

“You eat like a pig, you know that?” Kagome teased.

“Couldn't help myself. They serve five different flavors of Ramen here. I had to try them all.”

After dinner, Inuyasha took Kagome across the street to the ice cream shop.

“Ready for dessert?” Inuyasha asked.

“Nuh uh. I'm stuffed.”

“Oh, come on. This place is famous for their banana splits.”

“There's no way that I can finish a banana split.”

“Then we'll share it.”

Kagome wanted going to argue but decided against it. She took a seat at a table situated at the far end of the shop and waited for Inuyasha to return with dessert. The banana split looked enticing, and Kagome suddenly didn't feel so stuffed anymore.

“Why is there only one spoon?” Kagome asked.

“I brought you here so you could try this,” Inuyasha explained. “I've had my fair share of banana splits when I came here as a kid.”

Inuyasha took a spoonful of some of the scrumptious dessert and raised it to Kagome's mouth. Her cheeks instantly flared as she realized he was about to spoon-feed her. She opened her mouth slowly and tasted the dessert, delighted that it was sweet and bursting with flavor.

“Do you like it?” Inuyasha asked.

“Yeah, it's delicious.” Kagome replied.

Kagome took the spoon from Inuyasha's hands and took a spoonful of the dessert herself, raising it to Inuyasha's mouth to return the favor. He willingly accepted her offer, enjoying the delectable treat. They both sat there contently, taking turns feeding each other. Inuyasha took delight in the pleasurable moans Kagome made every time she ate a spoonful of the banana split. The sight was also highly arousing; her eyes were closed and her tongue darted out ever so often to capture any excess dessert that lingered on the corners of her lips. However, there was one spot her tongue couldn't quite reach.

“You missed a spot.”

“Where?”

“Here.”

Inuyasha's head leaned towards Kagome's and his tongue darted out to lick away the excess dessert that had accumulated on her chin. The action completely took Kagome by surprise, but she made no effort to stop him. It simply felt too good. The feeling of Inuyasha's warm tongue on her chin drove Kagome mad with desire. However, the feeling vanished just as quickly as it had begun.

“There, all gone.”

Apparently, Inuyasha wasn't aware of the effect of his simple, seemingly innocent action. Kagome, however, was definitely feeling the effects. Her body felt uncomfortably hot, and heat was beginning to pool between her legs.

“Let's go. We have a concert to get to,” Inuyasha said.

“We're going to a concert?” Kagome asked.

“Yeah.”

“Can we go some other time?”

“If you want to. Why? What's wrong?”

“Nothing. I just want to go for a walk right now.”

“Fair enough.”

Inuyasha and Kagome left the ice cream shop and headed in the direction of the beach. It was relatively late in the evening; thus, not one person was in sight. Kagome took off her heels and walked barefoot, loving the feel of the sand under her feet. They continued walking at a leisurely pace for quite a while, talking about various subjects ranging from family to personal interests. When Kagome's legs felt tired, she sat down on the sand, and Inuyasha sat down next to her. They enjoyed a moment of comfortable silence together; words simply weren't needed at the moment. Kagome was the first to speak aloud.

“Thank you for tonight, Inuyasha. I had a great time.”

Inuyasha simply stared at her as if he didn't register what she had just said.

“Yash?”

“Have I told you how gorgeous you look tonight?”

Kagome blushed. “No.”

“Then I'll tell you now. You look gorgeous.”

Kagome didn't know what to say. Even if she did, she wasn't sure if she could get the words out of her mouth. Inuyasha leaned closer to Kagome and inclined his head towards her own.

`Oh Kami! Is he going to kiss me?' Kagome thought. `I must be dreaming.'

But she wasn't dreaming.

Inuyasha closed his eyes as his lips softly touched Kagome's. He placed his left hand on her waist and pulled her closer to him so he could have better access to her sweet lips. At first, Kagome didn't know how to react, but she soon responded by kissing him back. It was a sweet, innocent kiss - one that last far too short. As Inuyasha started to pull away, Kagome quickly wrapped her right arm around his neck and pulled him back to her for another kiss, one that was far more fervent. Their lips met with such passion, such intensity that it seemed like their kiss would never end, regardless of their need for air. Inuyasha's tongue slipped into Kagome's mouth and coaxed hers to play with his. Their tongues battled for dominance until Kagome gave in, allowing Inuyasha to take control as their kiss deepened. Given the choice, Kagome would have willingly stayed in this moment forever. Never in her dreams had this moment seemed as perfect as it was now. His lips were so warm and tender; it did wonders to her body. If Kagome had been aroused before, it was nothing compared to what she was feeling now. She could barely contain her lust, and at that very moment, she wanted nothing more than to tear open Inuyasha's shirt and run her hands all over his body, but she held on to the small semblance of self-control she still had left and refrained from acting on pure impulse. Eventually, their kiss ended as the need for air became too great to neglect.

“Wow,” Kagome said aloud, expressing the only thought on her mind at the moment.

“Does this mean I get a second date?” Inuyasha asked.

He didn't receive an answer as Kagome pulled him into another kiss.

`I'll take that as a yes.'
