It Can't Be Real

Chapter 1

The Devious Plan

The rain was falling down and lightning streaked the dark sky, flashing the faces of the young adults. All of them-as if standing in defense with stern faces-kept their attention on the one woman before them. Or more like wind youkai. There she stood with her face hidden behind her fan, not letting them see her devious smirk. Their plan was flawless, unless somehow they caught on, but it wouldn't be that easy for them to find out. She could barely keep her delight a secret as she watched them-knowing their fate lied in her master's hands.

"Kagura!" One of them growled-the silver-haired hanyou Inuyasha.

She laughed.

"Your death will be over all too quickly, no need to fret Inuyasha!" She called back to them.

He unsheathed Tetsusaiga and it quickly transformed from the small frail looking sword, to its rightful form. The monk, demon slayer and schoolgirl got their weapons ready; a staff, a large boomerang and a bow. A crash of lightning landed between the two sides-and as if signaling to start-Inuyasha charged forward with his sword by his side ready to strike.

Suddenly out of no where, demons of all kinds shot down from above, attacking all those who stood against the youkai.

"No Kagome, take Shippo and run. Get away from here!" Sango called back to her friend.

"But Sango-" Kagome tried to argue back, but none of it was heard as a fur ball jumped into her arms.

"Let's just go Kagome! If the time comes, then you can help." Shippo whined-being the little kid inside that he was.

Kagome took one look at Inuyasha before turning around and running to safety. She didn't want to stray too far, but she couldn't stay too close. She looked back to see her friends-the one's she fought by many times before-struggling from all the attacks being sent their way. She knew she couldn't stay, but she wanted to help.

"Come on Kagome!" Urged the demon in her arms.

"Alright Shippo." She sighed as she ran into the forest, trying to find a place to hide.

But as soon as she stepped behind a large tuff of trees, she stopped.

"Jewel shards, I sense them. A lot of them." She whispered, looking around wildly.

Shippo looked up at her with scared eyes, knowing whom exactly she sensed.

"Ah Kagome, shame to see you all alone without Inuyasha here. Now where could that boy have gone?" Came a cold and all-too familiar voice from behind her.

She turned around quickly to see the one person that she never wanted to be caught alone with. Naraku-the one person that she despised most in the whole word. She didn't dare speak to this man, or demon-whatever he was. Inside she was trembling with fear, knowing that Inuyasha was a little occupied with Kagura and the demons. Shippo shook in her arms, and she couldn't help but feel afraid for him too.

`Inuyasha! I need you now!'' She cried inside her head.

"Afraid of me you are? No need to be. I won't cause you any harm…as of yet." He said letting a cold laughter escape from his lips.

She glared at him and bit down on her tongue to keep from encouraging him. She knew that she needed Inuyasha now, and there was nothing keeping her from screaming. She knew it had to be done, and she knew that she should. But it wasn't only herself in danger, but also Shippo. She glanced down at him and she prayed that he understood.

She took him and set him down on the ground. And as he started to scurry behind her she breathed in deeply.

"INUYASHA!"

.

With a war-like cry he swung his sword through the line of demons charging his way. He was bleeding a little from his cheek and his left arm had a few scratches. Kagura was too busy sending demons their way to even bother fighting. With that smile on her face she watched them all struggle. That's when he froze as a blood-curling scream erupted from the night.

"INUYASHA!"

He knew that it was Kagome, and he knew she was in trouble. He snapped his eyes back to Kagura's and noticed the twinkle of delight in her eyes. He knew that it was a trap-a fucking trap that they had all too willingly walked into. He cursed to himself before turning back to his comrades.

"It's a trap!" He called to them.

Miroku held his hand back to his chest and wrapped the rosary back in its rightful place. His wind tunnel was effective, but it tired him out to say the least. He let Inuyasha's words register in his head. `It's a trap!' He looked over to Sango to see a wounded Kirara behind her. Her boomerang was strapped to her back and her sword was drawn.

"Where's Kagome?" Miroku called over to Inuyasha.

But when he looked to where he had last seen Inuyasha, he was gone. He forgot about the attack for only a split second, which almost cost him his life. He dodged an attack that could've decapitated him, but luckily he had come back to what was going on. He picked up his staff and whacked away one of them before pulling out his hand. `Boy am I lucky that Naraku hasn't sent out his little bugs to try and stop me.'

.

Before she could close her mouth she found herself knocked to the ground. Shippo scampered into the bushes without a scratch. She shakily got up off of the ground and stood up. He was standing only feet from her and she could feel chills going up her spine. She stepped back as he outstretched a hand towards her.

"Don't touch me!" She said firmly with tears welling in her eyes.

"Why Kagome? Why resist a powerful man like me? Together we could rule this spit of land we call home. We can make the jewel hole. Imagine what evils we could do?" He said with a smirk as he stepped forward.

`Where is this coming from?' She wondered.

"No. I will never let the jewel fall into such evil and tainted hands such as yours. Get away from me now!" She said clenching her fists to her chest.

"You heard the girl, back off fucker." Inuyasha growled from behind Naraku.

He smiled and didn't turn around.

"Long time no see old friend." He said still facing Kagome.

"Friend my ass, turn around and leave her alone!" He growled again.

He laughed.

"I'm afraid that this time fair Inuyasha, that I stand between you and this girl, not the other way around. I will have her, and her beauty shall not be wasted as you have done."

Inuyasha stepped forward, which only made Naraku move quickly to behind Kagome and grab her tightly.

"You could've had Kikyou, but you let her go. Now you choose to let this one leave your grasp too? You fool, you never deserved her, or this one."

"Let her go Naraku! This is between me and you!"

Kagome struggled against him, but it wouldn't work. He just wouldn't let go of his tight grip on her. He brought a hand up to her throat and slowly started to cut off her breath.

"Inuyasha!" She squeaked.

Naraku smiled down at her as he watched the half-demon's eye's flash red momentarily before his grip tightened on the hilt at his side. He squeezed harder on her soft and fragile throat before she let out one last try.

"Inuyasha." She breathed, barely loud enough for him to hear.

She fell unconscious right away and Naraku picked her up properly-bridal style. Inuyasha growled and charged forward with his sword still tucked away. Naraku laughed as he flew backwards at an amazing speed, as if gliding away. Inuyasha was no match as he watched her disappear out of his sight.

"KAGOME!" He cried as he still sped off in the direction Naraku went.

He knew that he had disappeared and Kagome was gone, but he didn't want to face the truth.

"KAGOME!" He cried a little more desperately.

He felt his own voice choke in his throat as he slowed down. His eyes watered slightly and he couldn't believe that he let him get away with her. He slowed himself so he was barely walking. He fell forward into the ground and shot his hands out just in time to catch himself.

"Kagome." He whispered as he closed his eyes and let his claws dig into the dirt. "Kagome…"

Okay this is a short chapter yes, but I had to do it this way, because of the next chapter. Don't know the title but you'll see. This is my first FF that has to do with the feudal era so feel proud of me, and if I spell anything wrong, TELL ME! I don't like being embarrassed by my lack of grammar. Lol. Thanks.
