When violet eyes get brighter
And heavy wings grow lighter
I'll taste the sky and feel alive again
And I'll forget the world that I knew
But I swear I won't forget you
Oh if my voice could reach back through the past
I'd whisper in your ear:
“Oh darling I wish you were here”

Inuyasha settled his arm around his daughter's shoulders. The house was dark without Kagome's smile, quiet without her laughter. Moriko did her best, turning right then and giving her father her prettiest smile, and it made his heart sing as it normally did… but then his still-beating heart plummeted, cursing that precious smile of hers.

That was Kagome's smile, after all.

“Hold on right there for a minute,” he told her as he stood and left. Moriko quirked one silver eyebrow as she watched her father leave. After just a moment, the young adult turned, her violet eyes settling on the television screen once again.

Suddenly, there was her father, right next to her; the young quarter-demon wished again, annoyed, that she had her father's speed and agility.

Inuyasha plopped down into the seat beside Moriko, dropping something in her lap. “Here, pup,” he murmured, watching the television meaningfully. “Your haha wanted you to have it…”

Moriko blinked at the seemingly innocent trinket in her lap. It was a fairly small bauble, and it shimmered a soft pink in the gentle light from overhead. Carefully, Moriko squeezed it between two fingers and held it up to get a better look at it.

She gasped in sudden realization, and she looked to her father. Inuyasha just continued to stare at the TV. “Is this…” Moriko couldn't finish what she was saying, she was so astounded.

“Well, it don't have anymore power to it, that's for sure,” her father answered, crossing his arms over his chest and still refusing to look at her. “Just thought you'd like something to remind you. Of her, you know?” He snuck a sideways glance at his daughter.

She threw her arms around him suddenly in a loving hug.

“Oh, Daddy…”

“Keh.”
