Chapter two

In Japan: Modern time
"It is almost time, master," said a small, weak voice from the shadows. Glowing red eyes shined out in the darkness.
"Very well, Konchu. We will be leaving soon," a dark voice said. A grin appeared under the red eyes. "Soon the Shikon Jewel will be in my grasp." Dark laughter followed those cold words.

Somewhere else in Japan in the modern era
"There you are Lady Croft, I wish you luck on whatever adventure that you are embarking on," the pilot said.
"Thank you Chris." Lara Croft said. She got off the jet and looked around for her motorcycle. It was right beside the jet with the pack strapped on just like it was when it was loaded on the jet (A/N: she had kept her clothes bag with her). She mounted the silver motorcycle and sped away. Lara was just passing an ally way when she heard a voice.
"Give us your money and there will be no trouble," a male voice said.
"No way in hell are we giving you our money," another voice said, this one was female. Lara stopped her motorcycle; she hated robbers and was going to help the victims out.
"Give us your money, or else," the male said. Lara could see everyone clearly now. It was five men robbing two women. The headman had short brown hair, and was holding a knife.
"No way," the female voice said again. It was a girl who had dark blond hair in a high ponytail, blue/green eyes, and a dark look on her face (A/N: for face composition think of Kouga except with woman features). The girl looked American and was wearing black jean shorts, and a white top with the picture of a wolf howling at the moon on it. The other girl was about a half a foot taller than the woman she was next to, with long, black hair in a braid that went down to her thighs, blue eyes, and had a dangerous look on her face. That girl looked like an American as well and was wearing blue jeans and a black t-shirt that had a raven flying out of the black background.
"Fine, then we'll take it by force," the headman said. He motioned to his comrades and they started to close in drawing knives.
"You really don't want to do that," the blond girl said. She fingered a crystal horse figurine that was around her neck. The other girl was stretching her fingers and loosening up her shoulders. The men paid no head and kept advancing. Lara was about to jump in and help when the blond sighed, "Alright, we'll do it the hard way. Go ahead Tengu." The black haired girl grinned. She closed her eyes and suddenly big, black, feathered wings spread out of her back, her fingernails grew and turned into claws, which looked more like talons, and a red marking that sorta looked like a skull appeared on her forehead. The girl opened her eyes and the irises were a crimson red.
"Your turn Rabid." The wing girl said to the blond. The girl spoken to ripped off the horse figurine. Her eyes irises quickly narrowed, lengthened and became more like a wolf's, her fingernails grew into claws, her ears grew pointed, and a short, white, wolf tail appeared behind her.
The men stopped moving and stared wide-eyed at the two women.
"Sheeze, you'd think they never saw a demon before," the pointy-eared girl chuckled. "Well, these guys wanted a fight, so let's give it to them." The wing girl launched herself into the air and kicked a couple of guys in the back of the head, knocking them to the ground. The pointy eared one on the other hand, attacked from the ground and punched one of the men in the gut. She obviously had a hard punch because the guy fell to the ground and gasped for air.
"This is no fun Tengu, they're not fighting back," the point eared girl said. Her friend nodded and landed.
"Why don't we just leave them," she said. The shorter girl nodded and put her horse figurine back on, once again concealing what she really looked like, and the taller one closed her eyes and turned back to her human form. Walking beside each other, they left the ally. Lara stared at them.
If these girls will come with me, maybe they could teach me about demons she thought. She quickly got in the way of the two demons.
"What do you want?" the blond girl asked. She fingered the crystal horse again.
"I couldn't help but notice you two are demons," Lara said. The dark haired girl stared at her.
"You saw us?" The blond asked.
"Yes I did. And I was wondering, would you mind working for me?"
"What kind of work?" The dark haired girl asked suspiciously. Lara explained who she was, what she wanted of them, where they would have to go and face, and how much she would pay them. To her surprise the girls didn't find anything strange about a well that takes people back to the warring states era Japan.
"My colleague and I have to discus this." The blond girl said. She and the other girl walked about two feet away and whispered to each other. After a few moment of this, they nodded and walked back to Lara. "We except your offer Lady Croft. But we want some money upfront."
"No problem." Lara said. She went to her motorcycle, pulled out a checkbook, and wrote a check for half of the money. Lara ripped out the check, put the pen away, and gave it to the blond girl. She took it and put it in the back pocket in her jean shorts.
"I'm Rabid, and this is my friend Yami. She is a Tengu demon, and I am a Wolf demon." She said.
"Rabid?" Lara asked questioningly. Rabid looked her strait in the eye.
"Yes, Rabid. My mother died before I was named, and in my pack, the woman got to name the child. So I was never named. I am called Rabid though, and I like the name." Rabid said. "When do we go?"
"Any time before tomorrow." Lara said. "You should go tell your pack." A pained look crossed Rabid's face.
"Her pack was killed." Yami said.
"Oh, sorry for brining it up." Lara looked up at the dark haired girl (A/N: She was about three inches shorter) "Well, do whatever you need to do then. We should get going pretty soon." The girls nodded and started down the street.
"The hotel we stay in is just a block from here," Rabid said.
"You don't live here?" Lara asked.
"No. We live in America. We're just here visiting a friend of ours. Before those thugs caught us, we were heading back to pack and go home." Rabid said. Lara went to her motorcycle, and rolled it along while she walked with Rabid and Yami.
A few minutes later they walked into the hotel, and Lara waited down in the lobby for the girls. Half an hour later, they came down, each with a very stuffed backpack. Yami's was dark purple, while Rabid's was dark red.
"We're ready," Yami said. Lara nodded and walked outside with them. They walked over to a couple of motorcycles. Rabid walked over to a black Harley with red flames, while Yami went to a black Harley on which everything that wasn't black was chrome.
"Lead the way Lara," Rabid said. Lara walked over to her motorcycle, started it up, and started down the road. Rabid and Yami were right behind her.

Japan, still modern times: Higurashi residence, two days after Kagome left the warring states era
"Inu Yasha! I'll come when I'm ready!" Kagome shouted at the dog-demon perched on her windowsill.
"We don't have time for this woman!" Inu Yasha yelled back at her. Kagome was about to say the word when three motorcycles pulled up into the driveway. "What are those machines Kagome?"
"They're called motorcycles." Kagome replied to Inu Yasha's question. A knock was heard on the door, and Kagome went down to investigate who the people were. Then she felt it. Two of the visitors were demons. Kagome ran downstairs to stop her mother from opening the door but she was too late and her mother was already inviting them in.
"Ah, Kagome, perfect timing. These people were asking for you," her mother said brightly. Kagome's mother then left the room. The three people turned towards her. One who was definitely a demon had dark blond hair in a high ponytail, and with her magical vision she could see her claws and every thing else wolfish about her. She could sense that the tall, black haired girl was also a demon, but couldn't see her true form. There was also a human woman traveling with them. She had her brown hair up in a French braid, had tanned skin, and wore tan pants with a black t-shirt, and a brown leather jacket.
"Demons," Inu Yasha growled from behind her. He had smelled them from up in Kagome's room and came down to see them.
"Ah, this must be the dog boy Inu Yasha," the Wolf demon said. She stuck out her hand. Inu Yasha merely glared at her.
"Take off your disguises. We know your demons," Inu Yasha said to the wolf-girl. She sighed.
"Very well," she said. Rabid took off her crystal horse and changed into her Wolf demon form. "You next Tengu."
"Alright," Yami said. She closed her eyes again, and changed into her Tengu demon form.
"Would you mind telling me why you are here?" Kagome asked.
"They've come for the jewel of course, so why don't we shred them right now?" Inu Yasha asked, cracking his knuckles.
"HA! I'd like to see you try!" Yami and Rabid yelled out at the same time. Inu Yasha just about jumped at them, but Kagome stopped him.
"Inu Yasha, let's make sure they're after the jewel," Kagome said. Lara bowed.
"Thank you. Rabid, Yami, stop acting like children," Lara said.
"Yes mam," Yami and Rabid said with their heads held low.
"Good," Lara said and then explained who they were, why they were there and what they needed to do. After the explanation, there was silence. A few minutes had passed when Kagome finally broke the spell.
"Alright, I understand why you are here Lara, but what about Rabid and Yami?" she asked.
"They're here to help me fight this demon from the future. I have a feeling that they might be able to predict his moves better than any one here," Lara replied.
"Ah, I suppose that makes sense."
"Well, I don't want to take these demons back to the past, but if we have to, let's get going," Inu Yasha said in a gruffer tone than usual. Kagome and the others nodded.
"Bye mom! We're leaving now!" Kagome called to her mother.
"Alright! Be careful!" she called back.
"We will! Bye!" She went to her room and got the huge pack she always carried and went out the door. Every one else followed her. Lara, Yami, and Rabid went to their vehicles. Yami and Rabid took their bags off of the motorcycles and dove into them (A/N: the bags were nearly as large as Kagome's), and pulled out a couple of packs that were about a third of the size of the original packs.
"What's that?" Lara asked.
"Clothes, medical stuff, food, hair care products, coffee. The essentials," Yami said.
"Then what is all that?" Lara motioned towards the still giant packs that were on the ground in the shade of a tree. Yami and Rabid looked at the packs.
"Oh, TV, VCR, DVD player, DVD's, Game boy advance, twenty games for the game boy advance, a game cube, games for that, a stereo and some CD's," Rabid said. "In each pack."
Kagome was wide-eyed and gaping. Lara raised an eyebrow.
"What? We come prepared for boredom."
The two demons started rolling their motorcycles towards the well house.
"What are you doing?" Kagome asked. Yami and Rabid looked at her.
"We're going to the past," Rabid replied.
"No, no, no, no. You are not taking the motorcycles."
"Yes we are."
"No your not."
"They'll fit in the well."
"I don't care."
Rabid growled at Kagome and Yami glared at her. Kagome suddenly felt very unsafe.
"We're taking the motorcycles."
Kagome nodded and gulped. She looked at Lara. Lara only blinked and then started rolling her motorcycle to the well house as well.
"COME ON! WHAT'S TAKING YOU GIRLS SO LONG?!" Inu Yasha yelled from the well house. Kagome sighed and started up the steps behind Lara. "No." Was heard from the well house. Inu Yasha had seen the motorcycles.
"Yes. We're taking them," Rabid said.
"No your not."
"Yes we are."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
A deep growl was heard. Then there was the sound of someone getting the wind knocked out of them, and then a thump that sounded like a body was hitting the ground. Kagome rushed up the steps to see what had happened, with Lara close behind her going as fast as she could roll her motorcycle. When they got to the small building they were surprised to find Inu Yasha flat on his back, gasping for air, and Rabid standing over him with her hand still in a fist.
"Inu Yasha? Are you ok?" Kagome asked going to his side and staring down at him.
"I'm fine," he gasped. Kagome stared at Rabid, who was at the moment lowering her motorcycle into the well with a wire cord. When it reached the bottom, Rabid jumped in.
"Nothings happening," Rabid said, clearly annoyed.
"I think that if I'm in there with you we'll be transported," Kagome said.
"Well then come down here!"
"Coming." Kagome jumped in and even before she touched Rabid's bike, they were surrounded in the purple light of time travel. After a few seconds, the light faded and the well appeared again. Kagome kept going down and was about to smash into Rabid's motorbike, but Rabid jumped up, grabbed her out of the air and took her to the top of the well.
"That was interesting. Now, I'll just pull this wire rope and bring my motorbike up," Rabid said and pulled the cord. Because of her demon strength, it came up easily. "Now go back and get the others." Kagome jumped back in with the wire cord and went back to her time. They decided Lara should go next because Inu Yasha would not lower her bike for her so Yami had to do it. When they reached the other side Rabid pulled it out. Then came Yami, and got her bike out with the same method Rabid had used. Inu Yasha came last, still a little winded by Rabid's punch.
"Now that were all through the well, why don't we go to Kaede's to get the others," Kagome said, and started down the path to Kaede's. Every one else followed her. When they got to the village, Rabid and Yami opted to stay in the forest so not to upset the villagers. The rest agreed and went into the village.
"I suppose we should change now huh?" Yami asked.
"Yep," Rabid replied. They each took their backpacks and went into separate bushes.
