Chapter 2: The Truth

m1ss: Another Chapter!

Tru: Sorry for the late update!

m1ss: Okay I re-read the first chapter, and it confused me. When Kagome left Shippou for 7 years she was 20 years old. Because when Kagome left for a week she was 16, and Shippou was 6. Hope that clears things up.

Tru: Let's start the story!

Kagome was looking around here surroundings. She couldn't believe that she was stuck here. She couldn't even imagine what her life would be like here. She was outside with Shippou, Hime, and Kaede. They just finished eating and Hime and Kaede were cleaning up. It was funny because they didn't let her help.

"Shippou, where is Inuyasha?" Kagome asked curiously. 'He would've smelled my scent by now.'

"Uh, okaa-san I don't know if I should tell you…" Shippou said looking down.

"Shippou. Tell me where is Inuyasha?" Kagome asked again. She was frustrated that her surrogate son wouldn't tell her where Inuyasha was.

"Shippou child, I think I should be the one to tell Kagome what happened 7 years ago," Kaede said coming out of her hut followed by Hime.

"Okay Kaede. But I wish to stay out here with okaa-san," Shippou said.

"Yes Kaede, I would like to stay here with Kagome-sama and Shippou," Princess said sitting beside her mate.

"Hime, just call me okaa-san," Kagome said winking at her.

"Okay okaa-san," Hime said emphasising okaa-san.

"If it pleases the both of you to stay out here. Then you may stay," Kaede said smiling at the trio. Kaede sat beside Kagome. 'This child's future has been taken away from her. She has to know what happened to her so that she can continue living here.' Kaede thought to herself. She mentally sighed. 'This isn't going to be easy.'

"When ye turned 20 years old, your group defeated Naraku. Thus the Shikon No Tama Jewel was formed again," Kaede began.

"Really?" Kagome said shocked.

"Yes. Now child stop interrupting me so I can continue the story," Kaede said scolding Kagome gently.

"Okay. Please continue Kaede-baba," Kagome said.

"Before the Jewel was formed, Kikyou gave you the rest of your soul so that you would be able to purify it. So with the Jewel formed and whole, you purified it. Once it was purified. You gave it to Inuyasha, so that he could make his wish. But Inuyasha refused to make the wish. He said he already had what he always wanted. And that was to be accepted, and he was accepted. He was also accepted my Lord Sesshoumaru of the Western Lands. Sesshoumaru joined the fight against Naraku, and the fight was successful. So, Inuyasha asked you to make the wish. But yet you refused. You said that Inuyasha was the one that wanted it in the first place, so he had to make that wish," Kaede said She looked at the miko next to her. Kagome smiled. Kaede could've sworn she saw fangs. 'How can she have fangs?' Kaede mentally asked herself.

"Continue Kaede-baba," Kagome insisted.

"So Inuyasha made a wish. But it wasn't to become a demon. It was a very mature decision to make. It shocked everyone that he made that decision. But everyone was happy. The wish was that all the people that were killed because of Naraku's evil were to be brought back to life. And everyone that wanted to come back from the dead, came back. Kouga's pack members that were killed came back, as well as Shippou's parents, Sango's village and family, and Miroku's father. That day was day for celebration. But everyone knew that my sister Kikyou, would have came back as well. But that night she didn't come back, oh no. It was morning when she showed her face to everyone," Kaede said.

``And so the tale begins…``

``7 years ago``

Everyone stayed at Kaede's that night. They were all very happy with Inuyasha's wish. They couldn't believe that he made that kind of decision, but the inu-hanyou surprised them all. Last night everyone was festive. They were celebrating the return of those who died because of the evil hanyou Onigumo Naraku. And yet, everyone was dreading the time that Kikyou would show her face. For they knew that when that time came. Inuyasha would make the biggest and hardest decision of his life. And whatever that decision would be, they all knew it would cost themselves Kagome Higurashi. For if the inu-hanyou made the wrong decision. Then they would probably never see the girl that grew to love so much.

The big group made their way out of Kaede's hut. Only to gasp at the person they saw. Kikyou. Inuyasha made his way out of the group. He knew that it would be time to make his decision. 'Kami why him?' Inuyasha thought.

"Kikyou," Inuyasha said.

"Inuyasha," Kikyou whispered.

"Sister Kaede, it's good to see you again," Kikyou said avoiding any eye contact with Inuyasha.

"As well as it is good to see you to sister," Kaede said.

Kagome stiffened when she laid eyes on her incarnation. 'Now is the time for Inuyasha, to make his decision,' Kagome thought to herself. Sango felt Kagome stiffen beside her. Sango mentally sighed to herself. 'Inuyasha, you better make a good decision, because if not, your head will not be located on your body any longer.'

Miroku looked over to where his friend was standing. He couldn't take the tension that was spreading to everyone. 'Inuyasha, my only advice to you is to follow your heart. Because either way you'll end up hurting someone.' Miroku thought. Miroku said a rushed prayer to Buddha.

Shippou was holding on to his okaa-san. (A/n: no not Kagome, his real okaa-san.) He didn't like the way things were turning out. Everyone knew that Inuyasha had to make this decision sooner or later. But Shippou didn't want it to come, because he already knew Inuyasha's decision. Sadly he knew it, and he didn't want to know. He regretted asking his otou-san to tap into Inuyasha's thoughts.

Shippou and his parent's and smelled Kikyou's scent last night. And Shippou had begged his otou-san to tap into Inuyasha's thoughts. And he didn't like the news that Shiro told him.

``Flashback``

"Otou-san! What is Inuyasha thinking?" Shippou whispered quietly.

"Shippou, he's choosing Kikyou," Shiro told his son. He watched Shippou's face, it turned into sadness, then anger.

"Shippou why does it mean so much to you?" Skitari asked her son.

"Because, if Inuyasha chooses Kikyou over Kagome. Then I'll never see her again," Shippou whispered sadly.

"Oh Shippou. I'm sure Inuyasha will make the right decision," Skitari said holding her son in her arms.

``End Flashback``

Shippou held tightly onto his okaa-san. He didn't want Kagome to leave. He couldn't bear the thought of not seeing her anymore. 'I hope okaa-san's right. Inuyasha you better make the right decision.' Shippou mentally thought to himself.

Suddenly, the leaves around the group started to move around in spirals. Kouga appeared beside Kagome. Kouga wanted to thank whoever made the wish. For it had brought back his pack members that were killed because of Naraku.

"Hey dog breath!" Kouga said.

"What do you want you damn wolf?" Inuyasha asked annoyed.

"I just came by to thank my woman for bringing back my pack members," Kouga said arrogantly.

"Kouga-kun, I didn't make that wish. Inuyasha did," Kagome said smiling.

"Dog breath made that wish?" Kouga asked surprised.

"You got a problem with that?" Inuyasha asked.

"No. But I got a problem with you!" Kouga retorted.

"Guys, can you please stop fighting?" Kagome asked putting a hand on Kouga's shoulder.

"Okay Kagome," Kouga said softly turning to her.

"Feh," Inuyasha said.

"Sorry to break the little reunion, but Inuyasha it's time for you to make your decision," Kikyou said. Kouga looked at Kikyou finally noticing her. Kouga noticed that her scent didn't smell like clay, or death any more. 'She must've been brought back to life as well.' Kouga thought. 'Inuyasha, you better not do anything to hurt Kagome. And if that means I have to give her up to you for her to be happy. Then so be it.' Kouga thought.

"WHAT?!?!" Inuyasha screamed shocked. 'Not now, it's too soon.' Inuyasha thought.

"Yes Inuyasha, I agree with Kikyou. We both have waited too long for your decision," Kagome said stepping forward.

"What? You want me to make the decision now?" Inuyasha asked.

"Yes Inuyasha," Kagome said making her towards her incarnation.

"So Inuyasha, what is your decision? Who will it be? My reincarnation? Or I?" Kikyou asked.

Inuyasha didn't know what to do. Last night he was sure that he would choose Kikyou. But now, he didn't know. If he did choose Kikyou, Kagome would leave the era for sure. And he didn't want anyone to be angry at him for sending her away. And he really wanted to be friends with whoever he didn't choose. Inuyasha sighed to himself, he couldn't take this. Too much pressure. But he did have to make the damn decision.

"Inuyasha, it's okay. Just follow your heart," Kagome said. Inuyasha looked up, he saw Kagome smiling at him. He could tell she was nervous.

"Okay Kagome," Inuyasha said. 'Okay, I know my decision.'

"I really don't want to make this decision. But I have to make it sooner or later. The only thing I ask out of this person that I don't choose. Is that we could still be friends. I really don't want to end the friendship that we've built on," Inuyasha started.

The whole group was getting tense. They all wanted him to pick Kagome. But they couldn't do anything about it, it was all in Inuyasha's hands. And they didn't like that. They didn't like the fact that Inuyasha held the key to Kagome's future.

"I choose… I choose you Kikyou," Inuyasha said making his way towards Kikyou.

Kagome froze. She felt her heart fallen to deepest ocean on earth. She didn't know what to do. Should she cry like a fool because her only love had chosen her incarnation over her? 'I should've listened to my conscious.' She mentally thought to herself. Kagome knew deep down inside that Inuyasha would choose her incarnation over her. But she had hope that Inuyasha would choose her over her incarnation. But she was wrong. 'Why Kami? Why me?' She cried to Kami mentally. She loved Inuyasha so much! But the inu-hanyou only saw her as a friend. 'If I can't have him as a lover, then I can have him as a friend.' She thought.

Kikyou was overjoyed that Inuyasha had chosen her over her reincarnation. But she really did feel sorry for her. When she gave up the rest of her reincarnation's soul so that she would be able to purify the Shikon No Tama, she saw Inuyasha's relationship with her. And she saw the way the inu-hanyou treated her reincarnation. But she knew differently. She really wasn't her reincarnation, she was someone else. Someone very special, and she knew why Kagome was placed in the feudal era now. She knew why. And she intended on telling her.

"Kagome, can I have a word with you?" Kikyou asked.

"Sure Kikyou," Kagome said following Kikyou.

"Kagome, I know your secret," Kikyou said looking at her.

"What do you mean Kikyou?" Kagome asked. She looked into Kikyou's chocolate brown orbs. They were full of life now, not lifeless like she saw them before. 'She can't know can she?'

"I know your secret Kagome. Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about. Because I know. I've known ever since I gave up the rest of your soul. And now I know why you were put here in the feudal era. To protect all of us ne? You always protected all of us. And I wondered why you would do so. Even go to the lengths of protecting Sesshoumaru after all of the times he tried to kill you. And it was because of you and Rin that he is the person he is today. And you know deep down that the inu-hanyou wasn't meant to be your soul mate," Kikyou said.

"You know about my secret? You know my other reason for being here?" Kagome asked flabbergasted.

"Yes I do. And I also know that you are not my reincarnation," Kikyou said.

"Yes. I know that too. The only reason why I look like you was because of the Shikon being in my body," Kagome said.

"Precisely," Kikyou said smiling.

"But what did you mean by Inuyasha not meant to be my soul mate?" Kagome said curiously.

"Because he wasn't mean to be. Your conscious tired to tell you that through a dream," Kikyou said.

"You know about that?" Kagome asked.

"Yes I do know," Kikyou said.

"Oh. Well I knew that Inuyasha wasn't going to pick me. But I had hope, after all I love him. But if this is what the fates planned, then it is what they planned. But how do I know that you won't hurt Inuyasha again?" Kagome asked.

"I give you my word Kagome. I wouldn't dream of hurting Inuyasha now. I do not care whether or not he is a hanyou or not. And I lost my chance at love along time ago, and I don't intend on loosing my chance now," Kikyou said sincerely.

"Alright. I trust your word Kikyou," Kagome said.

"I'm glad you do," Kikyou said.

"Well, I guess that we should go back now," Kagome said.

"Wait," Kikyou cried.

"What is it Kikyou?" Kagome asked.

"I don't want to be enemies with you anymore. How about sisters?" Kikyou asked.

"I think that's a good idea," Kagome said smiling.

"And no matter what is your decision after this, I will support you," Kikyou said hugging Kagome. Kagome was shocked. But hugged her back.

"After this sister, I do not know when I will be coming back," Kagome said.

"Alright," Kikyou said as they made their way back to the group.

When they got back Kikyou went to Inuyasha. Kagome watched as they kissed. Kagome smiled. He was happy, and she was happy also. And that was all she cared about. 'Now it's time to break my decision to them.' She looked around. Everyone was there. Everyone that needed to hear her decision. Kouga, Shiro, Skitari, Shippou, Sango, Kohaku, Shinto, Koi, Koshi, Miroku, Inuyasha, Kikyou, and Kaede. (A/N: Shinto, Koi, are Sango's parents and Koshi is Miroku's dad.)

"I have an announcement to make," Kagome said.

"What announcement is that child?" Kaede asked. Kagome smiled. She took a deep breath and explained the new found closure between her and Kikyou. Everyone was shocked by the fact that they were 'friends'. Kagome looked around again. 'Their not going to like what I have to say next,'

"And, Inuyasha it's fine with me if we stay just as friends," Kagome said.

"Thank you Kagome," Inuyasha said smiling.

"And," Kagome said picking up her pack. She didn't know what to do now. Should she tell them that she was going back to her time? Should she tell them that they were probably never going to see them again?.

"And what Kagome?" Sango asked curiously.

"Brace yourself Shippou," Skitari whispered to her son.

"Why?" Shippou asked.

"Because you probably will never see your Kagome okaa-san ever again," Shiro said.

"No!" Shippou cried.

"What did you say Shippou?" Kagome asked

"Nothing okaa-san, please continue," Shippou said looking embarrassed.

Kouga heard what Skitari and Shiro told their son. He didn't want Kagome to leave. He didn't know what would become of him if she ever left.

"I'm leaving this era. I can't be here in this heartbreak. I can't protect you right now. I need to leave this era. But someday I will return," Kagome said, her eyes brimming with tears.

"What?!?!" was the reaction she got from everyone except Kikyou.

"You have to stay here Kagome!" Shippou screamed.

"I agree with the Gaki!" Inuyasha said.

"Please Kagome don't leave!" Sango begged.

"Kagome-sama why now?" Miroku asked.

"You can't possibly leave," Kouga said heartbroken

"I'm sorry you guys," Kagome said.

"I love all of you! But I have to leave," Kagome said.

They were all at the Bone Eaters Well. They were all crying tears, even Miroku, Kouga, and Inuyasha, even more surprisingly…KIKYOU WAS CRYING!.

"Kagome-chan!" Rin called out running to the elder girl.

"Rin-chan!" Kagome said bending down to hug her.

"You didn't think you were going to leave without saying goodbye did you?" Rin asked sniffing.

"I'm sorry Rin-chan," Kagome said.

"It's okay nee-chan," Rin said pulling away from her.

"Kagome, your going to come back and visit." Sesshoumaru said more then asked.

"Yes I am Sesshoumaru," Kagome said.

"Very well then," Sesshoumaru said.

"Well, bye guys," Kagome said.

"Stupid girl. You know I could come get you whenever I want," Inuyasha said.

"I already thought of that. And Inuyasha, I'm sealing the well," Kagome said,

"What?" Inuyasha asked shocked.

"Yes, so only I can get through," Kagome said.

"Bye everyone!" Kagome yelled. And she jumped into the well. Never to be seen again.

``End of what happened 7 years ago``

"That is so sad!" Kagome said tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Yea! That is sad!" Hime said crying as well.

"Tis your past my dear child," Kaede said to Kagome.

"Yeah, I guess so," Kagome said.

"What I don't get child, is what secret my sister was talking to you about," Kaede said.

"Oh, that secret," Kagome said.

"Well, mama do you plan on telling us?" Shippou said.

"Yes I do," Kagome said standing up.

"What kind of secret is it?" Shippou asked.

"I prefer to show you, rather then tell you," Kagome said.

"What do you mean child?" Kaede asked confused.

"You'll see," Kagome said winking.

Kagome was lifted up into the air. White light shining through her body. All the villagers came out to see the sight. Kaede gasped. 'She can't be one can she?' Kagome started chanting an ancient spell. Suddenly pink light engulfed her whole entire body. Then the pink light faded as well as the white light. Kagome was now floating back to the ground. But Kagome didn't look like Kagome. No! She looked different. She long midnight blue ebony tresses. In the middle of her forehead was a dagger (A/N: Sort of like Sesshou's moon on his forehead). Her fingernails weren't fingernails anymore they were claws. And her ears weren't normal, they were pointed just like Kouga's and Sesshoumaru's. And in Kagome's back, were wings.

"Kagome! Child, you're a fate youkai?" Kaede asked shocked.

"Yes I am Kaede-baba," Kagome said smiling.

"Okaa-san you're a fate youkai?" Shippou asked shocked as he stood up to move closer to her.

"I never thought I'd see one," Hime said also moving closer.

"What kind are you child?" Kaede asked.

"I'm an ookami fate youkai," Kagome said.

"I see," Shippou, Hime, and Kaede said at the same time.

"Yes well, I plan on telling Miroku, Sango, Inuyasha, Kikyou, Kouga, Rin and Sesshoumaru. And I need people to come with me," Kagome said smiling.

"I'll Come!" Shippou said excitedly.

"Yeah me too!" Hime said.

"I can't go. I need to rest these old bones," Kaede said smiling.

"Alright then! Hime, Shippou, we'll leave in the morning!" Kagome said smiling.

Kouga was sitting on a boulder near his cave. He was thinking of Kagome.

"Come back to me Kagome," Kouga whispered as one tear escaped his eye.
