A/N: Here we go… oh yes, most of you are probably wondering what this little guest has to do with Arc finding Kagura, well, it may not seem like important now but it will be, just give it time okay? Also, it's because Arc is Kagome's and Inuyasha's son remember? So he has inherited his mothers stubborn side to help those in need, so he can't just ignore all these people, he is too soft hearted for that and like his father always says: You're so horribly predictable. LOL. Oh yes, to those who are wondering: Yes, Kagura will be in this story but not until much later on, first we will follow Arc through his journey in the feudal era, we get to know the moon priests and the current situation on the land better not to mention meeting some old friends as well *Wink wink* and he will also make new friends, you know, build his own pack: Like father like son they say, hehehe… so I hope that answered some more questions, now enjoy, since even though this is the 11th chapter, this fic has barely even began yet!

So, I hope that cleared some questions, now let's continue!

Disclaimer: I don't own anything that's related to Inuyasha, I do own Arc though and if someone intends to copy him without my permission I'll F*** you up!

Chapter 11: =Secret Revealed…?=

It wasn't until after sun was setting that Arc had woken up, his head had been hurting like crazy which wasn't a surprise since using holy powers required a tremendous amount of both physical and mental energy and yesterday he had not only used them to ease the curse inside Renko's body but also injured one of the Moon priests… no wonder he had passed out, it was even more amazing he had woken up before the day was over… both Renko and Sumira had an idea about what Arc was, only Chizu didn't know which was better, she had her mother back… for now at least, unless Arc could find the source of the curse it would only be a week or two before it would start acting up again, though Arc had somehow `devoured' it, he should be able to smell it's origin soon enough but who knows when that will happen.

Right now, the sun had set and nightfall had come, Chizu was fast asleep and Arc was sitting outside the hut to look at the sky… the night sky here in the feudal era was so different from the one back home, the sky was so clear, nothing was covering it tonight, he was still contemplating about what he had seen from the Moon priests:

`Alright, those guys are not of this continent… they are clearly from Europe and are very much like the inquisition was, fanatics who believe their cause is just and righteous, a very dangerous combination, they must have been taught about the things they follow all their lives and telling them it's wrong will result in anger, I mocked the way they did and believed in things and as a result one of them blew the fuse and attacked me, those two are nothing but idiots, bullies with minimal powers and swords but… their leader, Jei… he is something else entirely: Cool, detached, calm, coordinative and skilled, he did mention he was 1st class while the other two were 3rd class, so there is a massive difference between classes and not to mention he had a mystic sword with him, that could prove to be trouble because I am not even close to mastering neither Tetsusaiga or Toukijin, which means that if I fight him now, he will kill me… with my current skill it would be like trying to stop a train with a tea spoon.'

`Jei… how can a human have such cold eyes? They held absolutely no emotion in them… until they saw Renko up and well, I swear I saw surprise and disbelief in them, it must have been the last thing any of them expected to see, odd… something just doesn't fit into the picture, my assumptions are practically certain now but I can't jump to conclusions, if I do I might make the wrong people my enemies and that is the last damn thing I need right now, so unless I can confirm where the curse is coming from and who cast it, I need to keep my suspicions to myself.' With that, he leaned back and his back came in contact with the wooden wall of the hut where Chizu and Renko lived, he hadn't left the hut for the night because quite frankly he didn't want to face any of the villager's nor did he feel secure enough to leave the two of them alone, even though the Moon priests had promised to leave them alone, it didn't mean the rest of the village would. His dad had given him rather harsh facts about cases like these, just because someone leaves a person alone doesn't mean the others will… so he stayed behind, besides, he felt relaxed and comfortable around those two, listening to them earlier that night as Renko put Chizu to sleep made him think about his own mother…

He sighed as the feelings and memories played in his head, he could still remember very clearly all those nights when he was a little kid when his mother tugged him into bed and told him all those stories… stories about a legendary hanyou and a priestess who travelled all over Nippon (Japan's original name in the old days), fighting evil demons and helping people… who would have thought she had actually been telling him they're own life story without he himself realising it?

But… the memories about his home… damn, he hadn't been gone for even two days and already he felt like the last time he had been home was years ago, man, these Youkai things about home and instincts are really a pain in the ass at times.

Right now, he was simply leaning against the wall and couldn't help but feel rather… anxious because now that he thought about it, this is the first time he was spending the night without anyone he knew back home and not being able to feel his mates bond to him… it made his heart beat a bit faster, he was nervous… and for a good reason, he was now in the middle of something big and he had no idea where his mate was and the appearance she made in his dream did not make him feel any better either, her words just kept echoing in his mind, she had said she had been to weak to fight back, fight back against who? The ones who took her?

Then she had also said that her bond to him was fading, what was making it fade? Who was making it fade? She had also said that if they met again, she wouldn't be herself anymore, what did that mean? Was that the reason his bond to her was cut off? Damn… he just wanted to feel the bond between them again! Yet now, all he could feel was the mark on his neck but that's about it, it was like he was isolated and it made him feel anxious and nervous… like he was having a drug addict who was cut off from it's drug… he closed his eyes as his breathing was starting to come out in pants, his body started to sweat and his mind kept telling him to find his mate, yet what could he do?! Shit…

Arc began to hit his fist into his forehead to stop this feeling and after the 7th hit, it finally settled down… only to leave a void like feeling behind it, he was holding his fist onto his head as he said with a low, barely a whisper like voice to himself: “Kagura… why? Why can't I feel you…? I need you…”

It wasn't until a few moments later that he heard someone approaching his spot and with his Youkai vision and sense of smell he picked up that it was Sumira, he let out a breath and slumped back against the wall, silently grateful for the distraction, he really needed to focus on anything but this way thinking… anything at all.

Sumira walked next to him and asked with a curios tone: “Can't sleep?” Arc just nodded and answered: “Yeah… to many things keep coming to mind at once, can't figure any of them out either.” With that said, she sat next to him and gave him an apple, he took it with a small bow of his head and began to chew on it. Sumira watched him eat the apple and wondered how to ask him what she wanted to know… was Arc really a Youkai? If he was then what kind of a Youkai was he? She hadn't ever heard of any kind of a Youkai or a hanyou that could use holy powers like that, not to mention he looked and felt completely human, no traces of You-ki or Ja-ki were anywhere around him… (You-ki = Demon energy, Ja-ki = Evil energy)

All in all, Arc was a normal human but… his abilities, recovery and strength weren't that of a human, unless he was a celestial being or something then he was a Youkai with pretty damn good disguise, VERY damn good disguise, since it seems like even the Moon priests couldn't pick it up.

After Arc had finished with the apple, he felt a bit more at ease for some reason… he felt a little, light-headed and… loose, yeah, that's the word: loose, like all the tension he'd felt all day was simply washed away. He looked at Sumira with questioning eyes and she said with a small giggle: “Well, seeing how stressed out you were all day, don't think I didn't see the way you were always deep in thought when you thought I wasn't looking at you… (He blushed) and so, I dipped that apple with some crushed relaxing herbs and a small relaxation spell I know off, how do you feel?”

Arc looked up first, then at his palm before saying with a small smile: “Very loose and at ease actually, I feel like I did back at home… when there was nothing to worry about.” He then took a deep breath and said: “I didn't notice it at first but… the air is rather nice tonight, very smooth and calming.”

Sumira nodded and then sighed before thinking: `Just like I thought… well, let's see what he has to say about it then.' She then said to Arc with a bit more serious tone: “Arc, the relaxing herbs and spell have one little flaw though…” He looked at her, now a bit worried and asked: “What…? Are there side-effects?” She shook her head, and thought: `Well, here goes nothing…' and said with a bit hesitant, yet at the same time serious tone: “Well, you see Arc… those herbs and the spell aren't really meant to work on humans, only Youkai or those who are partially Youkai.”

The world froze around him… literally.

To Be Continued NOT! You thought I'd stop there right? Well good news: This chapter is a bit longer than this! Hehehe… sorry about that, couldn't resist! :)

Arc was beginning to sweat like crazy as the remains of the apple dropped to the ground with agonizing slowness, well to him it was slow at least because his mind was going for 100 miles a second, countless thoughts and self berating was what they mostly consisted off but one question kept ringing over and over again: Say something clever, say something clever…

What should he do? He had just trapped himself… or more like she had cornered him about his secret and now he had a few options: Either come up with a suitable lie, which would not work and he knew it or tell the some degree of the truth… he made up his mind, or more like just decided to face the music since there really wasn't a choice left and asked while looking down from his sitting position: “When did you start suspecting it?” His voice was low, defeated, this woman had driven him into a corner and all he could do now was to wait and see what would happen.

Sumira raised an eyebrow, she hadn't expected him to say something like that… she had expected him to deny it, or try to lie about or even try to threaten her to keep her mouth shut but this? He simply asked how long had she been suspecting it? Arcerdo was indeed something else, completely different from what she had thought.

So she said while looking up in thought: “Around the time when you could get up after being near dead from exhaustion, or in other words around the time I first met you, the way you recovered simply wasn't normal but I wasn't sure until now.” Arc nodded, so that's where he had made a mistake: He was so used to being able to get up and recover so quickly he didn't think she could tell from that… but then again, this was the feudal era, here people would suspect you being a Youkai for simply having different eye colour than most people.

He berated himself yet again, he should have been more careful… but now he could do nothing about, so he replied with that some voice as before: “So… now you know, I'm a Youkai… what now?” Sumira really didn't know how to reply to that one, because frankly she hadn't expected him to be a Youkai! Now, he was and well… she hadn't really planned this to go this far. So she said after a small moment of silence: “Well, for starters… what kind of a Youkai are you?” Arc was a bit relieved, maybe he could tell her, just maybe he could tell her about himself… after all, she had been trained by Kaede herself and she must have taught her firmly about not judging a Youkai immediately because of being one… just maybe.

So Arc answered while lifting his head slightly: “Well, that's rather hard to explain, but basically I'm a quarter Inu-Youkai (Dog Demon) which is why I appear mostly human, only 1/4 of my blood is Youkai blood, so my traits won't come out so easily.” Sumira nodded, that made sense… though this is the first time she had even learned there being a quarter Youkai… so that meant either his mother or father was a hanyou.

She then asked: “Alright, that makes sense, though… who are your parents? I haven't heard there being a hanyou anywhere ever since the war ended, no offence.” Arc nodded and said with a bit more firmer voice: “None taken. As for my parents, my father is an inu-hanyou and my mother is a very powerful Miko, as you might have suspected… their love wasn't easy to achieve, mostly because of the world around them but they did it, I'm the result. If you are wondering about my holy powers, it might have something to do with my mother being a Miko, I inherited them from her which are the reason my You-ki is completely undetectable to those around me, you could say that I'm a wolf dressed up as a sheep or something, minus all bad intentions.”

She chuckled at that one a bit, she then asked with a bit more warmer voice: “Alright, I can believe you don't have any bad intentions… though I am a bit sceptical about your parents, since there weren't many Inu-hanyou anywhere even before the war, but I won't ask you about them, I'll trust you to tell me when you feel like it, so instead tell me this: Why are you here? It's dangerous walking around these parts, especially because of your Youkai blood, no offence meant.”

Arc shrugged and said with a smirk: “And none were taken this time either.” He then sighed and moved his Kimono enough for her to see the mark on his shoulder, Sumira knew what that mark meant but didn't quite get what he was trying to say but before she could ask, he said with a voice that was almost void of emotions: “My mate… she was taken from me.” She gasped and said: “I'm sorry to hear that…” Arc covered the mark again and said while looking up at the night sky with a sad sigh: “It was about 4 moths ago, back home we were happy, we had met under quite depressing circumstances but when we met we never would have thought that just one day later we would become mates… and not just any mates either but SOUL mates.” She looked at him with wide eyes, soul mates? Wow… she had heard about that, two people born for each other and the bond they would share would be enormous and strong, so that's why Arc was here, he was looking for his mate… she found it quite romantic, a lone warrior searching for his soul mate who had been taken from him.

Arc then continued with a far away look in his eyes: “We were so happy, for a whole year we were the most happy people in this entire world… everything was simply perfect, nothing could make us feel down, nothing at all. Then, four months ago… she vanished.”

Arc looked down again, he really didn't want to remember that day or the days after it, it hurt more than enough to simply remember even a little about them. Sumira saw this and said while placing her hand on his shoulder: “It's alright, I know it must hurt to remember it, believe me, Kaede gave me very thorough lessons about Youkai's and their mating rituals so I can imagine what kind of a hell you're going through right now.”

He was slightly shaking from the tears he was holding back, Sumira… it seems like she really was Kaede's pupil, her words and the lack of disgust, hate and fear from her touched and feelings… it felt like he was talking to his own mother… he forced back the unwanted feelings and while wiping his eyes he said: “Thank you… I'm sorry if I seem weak but whenever I think about my mate and my family back home, I just can't help it, I need to have her back and I want to go home as well… yet, I have no idea where to begin my search or anything at all…”

Sumira just patted him on the back and said: “Don't worry, you'll find her eventually, soul mates cannot be torn apart no matter what happens, right now you are just lost in the dark, just don't give into despair or fear and eventually you'll see where the light is…” After Arc nodded, they shared a comforting silence, just staying there under the night sky.

That was until Arc yawned, he felt at peace right now because he could tell someone about what he felt and because of the apple he ate… Sumira noticed this and said: “You should get some sleep, even if you are partially Youkai, those herbs and the spell will make you drowsy, so get some sleep now, okay?” Arc nodded and while getting up and walking into Renko's and Chizu's hut he turned around to face Sumira and said with smile: “You really are Kaede's pupil alright… if everyone in this world could be as open minded as you are... well, good night, I have a feeling tomorrow will be a busy day.” With that, he entered the hut and after setting his swords next to him, he leaned against the wall and after folding his arms and legs, he dozed off, feeling completely at ease for the first time in a long time.

Sumira smiled at herself after starting to walk back to her own hut, Arcerdo… a Youkai with a heart of gold, even if he was looking for his mate he still had stopped here to help Renko and Chizu, that's something really rare these days… even if he hadn't said it, he just seemed like the kind of a person to help those in need, as she entered her hut, she thought to herself as she looked into Renko's and Chizu's hut's direction: `Arcerdo… it's ironic, a quarter Youkai has a heart that every human should have, a part Youkai is more human than most humans are… yet, I have a feeling that he is someone who will change the way the world thinks, he has that kind of an aura around him, one that will make you believe there is hope for us all even in this era of utter chaos.' Then she entered the hut, tomorrow would be a busy day indeed, she too had that sort of a feeling.

To Be Continued… For real this time.

“My secret is out, yet I know I can trust the one who knows it…

That person is right, even if I cannot feel my mate's presence, I will find her…

Yet for now, I must do what I can for these people, no one should feel the same feeling of despair and loneliness I felt, I know what being separated from those you love is all about and I will not let it happen to those around me if I can help it…

… For that is the way I am, it is my nature and it is why my mother could meet my father, this path won't be easy, yet I will walk the walk no matter what.” - Arcerdo Higurashi
