Helping Others

Miroku sat at the foot of Sangos unmarked grave. Kaede had insisted that she and Inuyasha be reincarnated, together. And as much as he hated to admit it he had been enraged with them both fro being so close when they had died.

He had been expecting Kagome to break down and cry at the site of the brken body of Inuyasha. But again she had surprised him.

~*~*~*~Flashback~*~*~*~

"Oh no!" Kagome cried at the site of her friends lying dead on the cold ground. "Miroku go check Sango there may be a chance!"

But there was no chance. Both Inuyasha and Sango had gone into the cold only the dead can go into. Still Miroku reached to touch her face. Then he had notice her hand firmly in the hanyous and snatched his hand away from her face with a barely audible hiss.

"SHIPPOU!" Kagome cried out wioth relief at finding her adopted son still alive. Yet even that could change for he too was injurd severely.

"We must get Shippou to Kaede.." She paused and looked over at her only remaining friend, "Miroku?"

The priest sat above the two friends and stared at there clasped hands, feeling the first wave of anger as it swept over him.

"Miroku!" Kagome called louder snapping him out og his thoughts.

He looked up to her to see her standing with the young kitsune in her arms.

"We will take cre of them LATER, but now whe MUST get him(sher means Shippou) to Kaede! Now come on!"………

~*~*~*~End Flash Back~*~*~*~

"Miroku? Miroku. MIROKU!!!" Kagome screamed in his ear. Wincing at the volume of her voice Miroku turned to face her. It did not go unoticed that she held the Shikon no Tama around her neck.

"Miroku, Kaede needs to speak with you." She said softly. The monk only nodded and and stood up. `Poor guy, he is going to pieces.' She thought sadly as she watched him walk by.

Kagome turned her attention to the two unmarked graves that held the ashes of Inuyasha and Sango. Smilling sadly she bent to place the flowers she had brought onto her grave. Silently she whispered a prair to Kami. "We got `em," was all she said to the mounds of earth before silent tears overwhelmed her.

"I'm so sorry," she sobbed, "I couldn't protect you, either of you." She smiled again at the irony that it was usualy them who protected her. "Miss you already."

Miroku entered Kaede's hut to fin d the old priestess meditating. "You asked for me?" He said not caring if he disturbed her for he was far beyond caring now.

"Miroku-chan, please" she smiled "sit."

Miroku took a seat across from her and waited for her to speak.

"How is ye arm fairing child?" She asked him. He blinked at her in surprise.

`My arm?' he thought, "Oh! MY ARM!" He said in a daze. Looking toward Kaede he said, "I cant open it here lest I still have the curse."

She nodded at his wisdom, "Then perhaps ye should take a walk in Inuyasha's forest hmm? I here it does great for ye dispositon."

`Nani?.. Nevermind" He said as he walked out of the hut. `She is right though, I need to get under controll.'

He walked out of the village and decided to go to the river to check if his curse had gone. The fact that he nolonger felt it ment nothing, there was always a chance that something could happen.

Kagoem glanced around and saw Miroku leaving the village. "Now where do you suppose?" She said to no one in particular.

Making up her mind she decided to follow him. It did not fail her to notice that she was heading into Inyasha's Forest.

She followed him to the river where she found im sitting on a rock and looking for all the world like he was going to cry.

"Miroku-sama?" She called out tentivly. He looked over at where she stood among the foiledge and his stomach did a spin. Her face showed concern for him and, pity, the one thing he did not want or need right now.

When he failed to answer her she lost all trace of pity and now felt angry. Kagome knew he felt bad but she needed his help with things around the village.

"Miroku," she said firmly causing him to glance up once more only to regret it. Flesh met with flesh as her hand connected to his face, HARD!

"Baka," she said, "Stop this Miroku, yu cant go around like this anymore. You have responsibilities and obligations (AN: aren't those the same thing?) to uphold! You have to…" As suddenly as she began she stopped because tears were now flowing down his face as well as her own.

"You're cold Kagome." He whispered as the tears corsed down his cheeks only to fall onto his clenched fists.

Kagome sat down next to him and looked out toward the river. "Am I?" She thought aloud. It was a sobbering thought indeed. `Am I really so cold to him?'

She stol;e a glance at him and realization came with it. "Oh hell no! Miroku!"

Miroku turned to face her in time to see her fear and sorrow.

"It was not your fault! She died and it wa.."

"No!" Miroku said feverently. "It was my fault, I groped her, I pushed her away and so she turned to that, that"

`Hanyou?"

"Yes!" He cried out in frustration.

`Your making excusses." She said coldly her face showing no emotion. That above all else scarred him because Kagome's features always showed how she was feeling.

"You can't stand the thought that she didn't love you like that!" kagome spat out disgustedly.

Miroku shook his head, "you can't even begin to understa.."

"SHUT UP already!" Kagome cried in anguish. "I loved him! I LOVED him and then he turned to HER! How do you think I felt hu? Now, while you were out there beging for some slut to bear your child you forgot avout her!"

"No I nev…"

"You did! Fine! Fine! You pushed her away! Now you need to act like you lover her and let her be happy! She died in love! He died in love and now …" Her face softened as did her voice.

"And now we have to move on. It is what they would want. I know you think I am cold but that is only because I have those who are living to take care of."

Kagome shook hger head slightely. "I don't know if this help but one good cry never hert anyone." She said and for the first time in the weeks since the final bttle… He smiled.
