InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ To Love Him Or Not ❯ War Of Words ( Chapter 3 )

Disclaimer: I don't own InuYasha. I only own the plot and the original characters.
Thanks to my reviewers! Please don't review me and tell me that I made a typing or spelling error. I spend a lot of time looking through a dictionary and a thesaurus so my writing isn't too boring. I also spend a lot of time thinking about new characters and looking for names that suit them. Review and let me know what you think of the story or if you have a question. Thanks!

“My, my look who's out here.”
“Go away, Akia.”
“Now, now is that anyway to speak to a guest of your lord's home? You wouldn't want me to tell him that you were disrespecting me now would you?”
“Please, leave me alone.”
“Why on earth would I do that? What are you doing out here all my yourself?”
Rin could hear the falseness in her voice. It bothered her to no end that this demoness had such power over her. She was a potential wife, or mate in demon terms, to her lord and master. She didn't care for the hawk demoness. Aki seemed to have power over her lord and she felt no guilt in using it to her every advantage.
“Leave me be.”
“Who are you to order me around?” Akia yelled grabbing Rin by the hair and pulling her face towards herself. “I assure you that once I have won Sesshomaru's heart, you will be thrown out faster than you can beg for forgiveness for annoying me!”
“Lord Sesshomaru would not allow that to happen! Lord Sesshomaru will watch over me!”
“Silence you little bit-“
“Let her go Akia.”
Akia turned around to see Yasishiku. She was slightly shocked to see him of all people. She knew that he and Rin were close, but the look in his eyes spoke of more on his part.
`It couldn't be…is he in love with Rin?' Akia gave her forehead a mental slap. That couldn't possibly be true, could it? No of course not. He was one of Sesshomaru's top soldiers, the general of the armies, he was Rin's personal bodyguard. So maybe it wasn't so unbelievable. It was possible that their relationship had grown more serious. This could be used to her advantage. She wasn't stupid and she sure as hell wasn't blind. She noticed the looks the lord shared with his young ward. She wasn't going to be pushed aside by some human. She'd be damned if the lord's spotlight was taken away from her.
“Why should I?”
“You are not Lady of the Western Lands-“
“Yet.”
“You are not Lady of the Western Lands and therefore you do not have power over myself or Rin. You do not have as much power as you think you do. If Lord Sesshomaru had seen the way you were treating Rin you would not be breathing at this moment.”
“Lord Sesshomaru is very fond of me. Who are you to tell me my place. You should think before you speak.”
“And you should think before you act. Now go back to your rooms. You aren't even supposed to be out at this time of night.”
“And what of her? Is she allowed out her? Are you saying that she has privileges I do not?”
“No I am not saying anything of the sort. She is not to be out her at this time of night either, but she is not causing bodily harm to another.”
Yasishiku noticed the look of defeat that found home on Akia's face. The feeling of victory did not last long as the evil gleam in her eyes came back from its hiding place. She always had a way of making one feel insignificant at times. He often wondered how his lord could stand the wench. He convinced himself that his lord had not spent a lot of time with her. If he had she would have been thrown out long ago.
Yasishiku feared what she was going to say as she put on one of her devious smiles.
“Oh, I see now. You have feelings for this girl. Correct?”
“She is under my care.”
“Yes, but you have personal feelings for her.”
Rin had kept quiet when Yasishiku had come to her rescue. She had silently been watching the exchange of words between the two. She knew that eventually the hawk demon would take a cheap shot at her beloved friend, but she had not quite prepared for the type of cheap shot she would take.
Yasishiku stole a quick glance at Rin from the corner of his eye. He noticed the shock he was hiding written all over her face. Akia's statement had taken them both by surprise.
“What do you mean by that?” He knew how stupid his question must have sounded to her and his suspicions were confirmed when she let loose a laugh that would have had even the mightiest cowering in fear.
“What do you think I mean? You hold personal feelings for this human girl. It is obvious to everyone, well maybe only obvious to the wise.” She said this as she looked over at Rin.
Rin scowled at the implications. She hated this woman! She was such a wicked person. It was as if she were miserable and felt the need to make others unhappy just to put a little joy back in to her life. Rin finally found her voice and decided to speak up.
“Our relationship is that of friendship, that is all. Right Yasishiku?”
Akia looked from Rin and then back to Yasishiku with an all-knowing smile plastered on her face.
“Yes tell me Yasishiku. It is that of friendship, right?”
Yasishiku narrowed his eyes at her. He knew what she was getting at. He wasn't going to fall in to her trap.
“That is correct.”
“Very well, as you say. You are right. I really must retire for the evening. I must always look my best for Lord Sesshomaru. It would be a pity to disappoint him. Good night.”
Rin frowned at her retreating form as Yasishiku looked down at Rin. He adored the faces she made. True they were friends…but could they ever be something more?
A/N: I hope this chapter was long enough. I'll try to keep up with all of my stories. I'm currently writing five. I can't help it I always get more ideas before I can finish a story. Don't worry I won't abandon them. I decided that I am going to continue writing Summer Plans. I like it too much. Anyway, review and tell me what you think!
