Rin jolted up in bed panting. She had been having that dream for a week. She was seventeen now and old enough to get married. Not that she really wanted to, but she knew it was time for her to start her own life and family. How she hated the thought of leaving her lord!
Rin sighed and pushed the covers off and stood up. She could always take a walk outside to clear her mind. The flowers always seemed to understand when she was upset.
Rin opened her door and took off a lit torch from the wall and started making her way down the long hallway. The first time she arrived at Sesshomaru's castle she was overwhelmed. There were so many halls and so many rooms. Luckily Sesshomaru had assigned a soldier to her for the first month she was there and she eventually got used to the setup. Unfortunaly for Rin not all the demons in the castle were fond of her, but she managed to make friends who would gladly stand up for her.
One such friend was a kind soldier who always volunteered to look after her when she was at the castle. Yasashiku. His name described him perfectly. He was the most gentle demon she had ever met in her entire life. He was about six inches taller than her and shorter than Sesshomaru. He was skiny, yet he was muscular. He was one of the deadliest soldiers in her lord's army, but he was the nicest. He didn't have much free time, but whenever he had time for himself he spent with her.
One day he took her out to the gardens. She would never forget that day...
"Come on Rin, this way."
"Yasashiku! Come on, let me open my eyes!" Rin said between giggles.
"No, I want it to be a surprise." He answered in his usual gentle voice. His voice was always so soft and caring. She always felt so safe and secure with him.
"Okay, are we almost there?"
"Almost."
Rin could smell the wonderful flowers and deduced that he took her out to the gardens. The only difference was usually she could hear the soft gurgling of the pond or the chirping of the birds in the nearby forest.
"Okay, open your eyes." Yasashiku's gentle voice broke off her train of thought and she quickly snapped her eyes open. What she saw took her breath away. They were in a garden, but one that she had never been in before.
"Where are we? It's beautiful!"
"It's one of the more private gardens. Do you like it?"
"I love it!" Rin then noticed a blanket and food laid out on the ground. "A picnic?!"
Yasashiku couldn't hide his grin. Rin was so easy to please and he loved making her happy. "Yeah, I thought you might like it." He found he couldn't keep in his light blush when Rin turned toward him and jumped in to his arms.
"Thank you it's wonderful!"
"N-no problem." He cleared his throat suddenly noticing how interesting the grass swayed in the wind.
Rin giggled and grabbed his hand dragging him over to the blanket to sit down and start their lunch.
Rin sighed at the memory that was a year ago. It had been his birthday present for her. Ever since then they were practically joined at the hip. Everyone in the castle seemed to notice the forming bond between them including Sesshomaru.
Rin quietly made her way in to the garden Yasashiku had brought her to. Out of all the gardens she found this was her favorite. The fields were covered in Forget-Me-Nots, Roses, Daisies, Tulips, and others she didn't know the names of. The scents in the garden were always strong and comforting.
Suddenly Rin heard the rustle of feet walking through the grass. Rin turned around and sighed. She really didn't want to see her at the moment.
A/N: New character! Review and let me know what you think. I hope this chapter is a little longer. I'll try to write more in the third.
