Together Again

Prologue: Promises

“Where is she?” A young boy asked thin air. Whenever his best and only friend was late he was afraid that she had abandoned the dirty half-breed child. But that thought left his mind as quickly as it came when he heard a familiar voice.

“InuYasha-sama!” came the unusual call. “InuYasha-sama! Where are you?” Had he abandoned her? Was he not coming? No! He was coming! InuYasha would never leave Kagome.

“Kagome! Kagome!” He frowned at the young girl when she came around the corner of the Well.

“Inu...” She began excitedly but was cut-off.

“What took you so long? I’ve been waiting for a thousand hours out here!”

“Ha! It has NOT been a thousand hours since we met last night! But if you’re gonna be like that, maybe I’ll just go home and not give you my surprise.” She teased.

“Surprise!? Really!? Where!?” The hanyou asked as he began sniffing his friend. Kagome giggled. She knew how much InuYasha loved surprises. It was getting him to wait for it that was the trouble.

“Keehee! Stop it! That tickles! Keehee!” The young boy backed away a few steps obediently. Kagome reached in her pocket and slowly pulled out a small green box. “It’s a memory box. We both put somethin in it, but we can’t know what the other put in it. I’ll keep the box and you keep the key.”

“But I wanna keep the box.”

“NO” Kagome shouted.

“But...but...” InuYasha protested but stopped when he saw the oh so familiar look on Kagome’s face. “Oh no...Not again...”

“SIT BOY!”

“Ow...” InuYasha groaned. “I’ll...” he unconsciously twitched “...keep the key.”

Kagome put a happy smile on her tiny face. “Good. I knew you’d agree. Now, we both put somethin in the box and lock it and when we meet again, we can open it and see what’s inside.”

It took InuYasha a while to figure out what Kagome meant by ‘when we meet again’.
“What do you mean?”

Kagome wasn’t prepared for this. She didn’t want to have to tell her young friend the news, but it isn’t like she could just keep it a secret. “InuYasha-sama...?” She began. “You know how my mommy is a actress...and uhh...you know how the mericans pay more and stuff...well...mommy she says...it’ll be good for me to...go to Pramerica. But I promise I’ll meet you again! I mean it’s not like there are many people with dog ears on their heads! I’ll just look for the dog ears, and then we can open the box and be together again. I promise!”

“KAGOME! Kagome where are you!?”

“Oh no! Mommy’s coming! Quick...put somethin in the box!” He did and gave it back to Kagome. She also put something in the box and then she locked it. “Here. Take the key.” She said as she placed the small silver key in his hand.

“Kagome!”

“I haveta go now. But we’ll be together again. I promise!” Kogome hid the green box in her coat and gave the Hanyou a small kiss on the cheek. InuYasha was surprised and his face went red. “Keehee. Bye bye InuYasha-sama. Bye bye.” And with that she was gone leaving InuYasha standing alone.
