Prologue
Inuyasha and Kagome had enjoyed so many wonderful years together. They had finally collected all the Jewel Shards, and after giving the matter careful consideration; Kagome decided to give these to Inuyasha as the shards would transform him into a human. However, there were still too many demons and evil humans who wished to possess the shards.
Inuyasha and Kagome agreed it would be safer to keep these in Kagome's era, because they would be near impossible to sense there. If Inuyasha consumed the shards; there was a very real possibility somebody might try to remove them from his body. As a human; Inuyasha would be defenseless, and Kagome an easy target. This was a risk neither of them were prepared to take.
As for their friends, things couldn't be better. Shippo had grown into a handsome young man and Miroku and Sango's relationship had blossomed. The latter's so-called 'friends only' relationship had evolved into one of deep love and fiery passion. The entire group had decided unanimously to stay in Kaede's village. Kagome had completed high school and chose to live in the village with Inuyasha; she would only return home to bring back fresh supplies.
Their life had been a happy one. They grew closer with each passing moment, for their love burned with a fervor transcending time and space that no one would ever extinguish.

Meanwhile, in a far off village; the sound of fiendish laughter echoed throughout a small settlement nestled amongst a series of hills shrouded by dark woods. Towering above were a series of steep rocky crags that cast dark shadows across the peaceful valley as night crept ever closer threatening to devour its inhabitants. In a dark corner of this otherwise peaceful village, a nefarious adversary was plotting the destruction of Inuyasha and Kagome's happiness.
