InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Touzoku no Kon ❯ Prologue: Unexpected Visit ( Chapter 1 )
A/N: Here we go again, this is totally random and I got the idea out of nowhere (well, just a lot of daydreaming). This story probably won't be updated for a long time but enjoy the beginning and I'll try my hardest to come up with stuff. Feel free to send me ideas in reviews or my email (go to my page to get it). The chapter is kind of short but I'll come out with better stuff later.
Summary: Something is stealing from the richest and most powerful beings in Sengoku Jidai...and getting away with it. Only this thief isn't stealing gold and gems...but souls? The thief takes things too far when it decides to infiltrate the home of Sesshoumaru...

(Prologue: Unexpected Visit)
It was late. The moon had reached its highest peak in the sky. Its heavenly light shone through the thick forest. The wind breezed through the trees, making everything seem all the more serene. All was silent, the world slept.
But it was not so.
A shadow shifted among the thicket though it was not a shadow, but a person. The figure dashed off into the darkness with inhuman speed. Atop a hill, was a small village, and at its center a beautiful manor. It just so happened that this rich little village was holding a grand festival, which meant everyone would be in an uproar; the perfect time for some thieving.
The mysterious individual crept up to the outskirts, where the poor lived, and shot behind a small wooden hut. Not that they needed to, the place seemed to be deserted. The dark clothed person peered out from behind their hiding place.
No one.
Not a single human. Or demon for that matter.
It stepped out from behind the hut and began to walk suspiciously towards the lights and noise, clinging to the darkness all the way. `Old habits are hard to break.' Its shoulders shook in brief, silent laughter. The music and idiotic chatter of humans was getting louder and the lights grew brighter. `Hmm, this is going to be more difficult than I thought.'
It jumped soundlessly onto a rooftop to get a better look. Its feet were met with extremely weak wood and straw and the roof nearly gave out under it.
"Shimatta!" it hissed before leaping to the next one, which seemed to be made out of the same materials. The same effect occurred. "Note to self," it muttered, while back on solid ground, "Never again."
Its keen ears picked up a slight sound and it dove back into what dark area it had left. A drunken, flustered man came stumbling by, muttering incoherent things under his breath. `No threat.'
It slunk out and drew a long pointed dagger. The man continued to amble on stupidly, nearly falling into random objects. It came up behind him and ran the blade through his neck. He gave a dying gurgle, blood spilling forth from his mouth. The figure smirked, wiped the bloodied dagger on the dead one's clothing, and threw the soon to be corpse into the place it had been hiding in earlier. `Fool.'
Quickly, the being made for the inner most part of the town. Feet moving swiftly across the dirt ground, the thief's eyes scanned the immense, outdoor quarter in which the festival was being held. Many scantily clad geisha were dancing in front of men. The rest of the women were dressed in beautiful and elaborate kimonos with intricate designs and sashes. Some held fans and were batting their eyelashes suggestively at men and others were sipping ale, sake, or some form of liquor. The men simply ogled the women and drank.
At once its nose was assaulted with an array of scents; human perspiration, sake, sickening human foods, and the musky scent of arousal. The demon thief shuddered in disgust before setting eyes on the captivating manor. It smirked. `This is what I've been looking for.'
It slipped through the crowd, unnoticed before moving past the front entrance which was, of course, heavily guarded by powerful-looking, demon sentries. Each held a halberd of sorts. The youkai touzoku could probably take them out but had neither the energy nor time to do it. Dawn was approaching fast and it still had one more place to go.
The demon walked along the east wall before coming to a small balcony with both windows wide open. The thief smiled in a sinister fashion.
`How nice of them to make it easy for me.' It scaled the tall wall before hurtling from its current position to inside the manor. The sheer curtains swayed in the wind, giving the demon an almost strangely ethereal appearance.
It surveyed its surroundings. `This room belongs to a yasha kodomo…' Its eyes rested upon a small child slumbering in a futon much too big for her size. Her gorgeous, golden crown of hair was splayed across the many pillows that surrounded her. Her breathing was ragged and was clutching in her tiny hands, fistfuls of the sheets that covered her.
"Poor, pure, little child…" The youkai touzoku whispered, drawing near and reaching out to stroke the demon child's hair. "So pure, so perfect, you'll be mine for eternity." It pulled out a bluish glowing jewel attached to a chain from its hood. It glowed brighter as the demon placed it over the girl's body. "So perfect…" It murmured again.
"The nightmare you have in your dream realm now is nothing, not compared to the nightmare you face in the waking world; me."
It placed its hand over the child's body along with the stone. A blue light began to emanate from the young one's chest and suddenly, an orb shining white and blue shot out of her chest in a wild frenzy.
"Gomen ne, my otome, but I must have what is yours." The gem flashed brilliantly and the glowing orb as if lulled to sleep, hovered over and in rapture let itself be absorbed by the jewel. The being turned to step out into the dark hall, but not before looking back one last time.
"You don't mind do you? I mean, you aren't going to tell anyone?" A hint of sarcasm in its quiet, cruel voice. The golden-haired one simply sat up and stared on with a blank stare.
"Good…"
