Keiko blushed nervously as she walked away from her cousin to follow the children who had taken off alone. Who was that man? There was no way he was human, no human could capture that perfection, that air without stumbling into idiocy. Keiko looked up her thoughts broken by the young kitsune running up to her through the grassy field. “Keiko! I want you to meet Rin! She is kind of like Lord Sesshomarou's daughter! Would you play with us? Everyone seems to be so busy right now!” His daughter? Oh well then that undoubtedly means he already has someone at home waiting for him. Well what else could I have expected, someone so handsome and regal would have no trouble finding a mate in this world. “Keiko will you please play with us?”, her thoughts broken by the children pleading with her. She smiled softly and dropped to her knees. Looking at the little girl she found her so beautiful and she looked so happy to be playing with Shipo, and they wanted her to play with them desperately. “ Well I would be more then happy to play with you guys! So what do you have in mind? How about tag, or hide and seek? Do have any ideas guys?”, Keiko said exuberantly, she had always loved caring for children, her lack of a mother only pushed her more into wanting to be the absolute best to make her own mother proud. “Oh lets play tag Keiko. And you can be it.”, the little girl called Rin said shyly, unsure of whether she could speak to Keiko freely.
”Oh Rin that sounds like a wonderful idea! And please don't be afraid to talk to me, I promise I won't eat you both up, even though you look so cutely delicious!”, Keiko said mischievously as both the kids relaxed at her joke then began to giggle. “Well maybe I won't eat you if you can get away from me!”, Keiko said as she began to stand up. Her ears were greeted by joyful shrieks as the children ran down the hill towards the small patch of Sakura trees up ahead. Oh they are so cute. Keiko thought to herself as she set off after them her hair blowing freely into the soft breeze surrounding her.

Kagome looked back and smiled as she saw her cousin playing with Rin and Shipo. Her ears taking in the sounds of all of their laughter as she saw Keiko hide behind the cherry blossoms laughing out loud as she grabbed little Rin who shrieked in delight as she watched her cousin tickle the little girl. Her eyes widened as she thought how much Rin looked like her cousin. How easily they could have been mother and daughter, how happy the little girl seemed to be held lovingly by Keiko. If I didn't know any better I would have said that Keiko had come back her before now and mothered pretty little Rin. Kagome let out a loud laugh as she watched Shipo and Rin turn on Keiko and begin tickling her without mercy. Kagome held her soon to be husband closer to her as and jostled him enough to look in the direction of the kids. “Well, I'm glad they can make her forget things if even for a short while.”, he said looking lovingly down at his mate. They both looked back up at the playful scene in front of them to see the blossoms now falling around the three their rolling and playing causing the trees to shake as well, seemingly laughing along with their joy. “You're right Inuyasha, I'm glad too. It's good to hear her laughing so freely if even for a short while.”

”Ahem, who is the girl rolling around with the children again?”, Sesshomarou's deep voice interrupting the couple as they gazed happily at their child playing with Kagome's cousin. “Oh, I'm so sorry Sesshomarou, I said she was my cousin, she will be coming along to your palace for our wedding ceremony. Her…her father has just passed away and I wanted her to come along to something a bit more cheerful for a while, so she could forget and maybe she could mend things a bit sooner.”, Kagome said looking up at the tall lord standing near her lover. “ Yea Sess, when we first saw her, she was trying hard not to burst into tears every time she looked out a window or stared off into space,” Inuyasha chimed in as he talked to his brother. “But I see that our Shipo and you Rin have been able to make her laugh a bit more happily.”, he added. Sesshomarou nodded as he heard his brother talk to him about the beautiful girl he gazed at. No wonder I saw such sadness behind those breathtaking eyes. Such beauty shouldn't be covered up by a constant veil of tears. And my Rin seems so pleased to be playing with her. Sesshomarou thought to himself.

He had to fight down the sudden urge to gasp out as he saw the girl walking back, with the children holding her hands as the blossom petals lay captured in the dark locks of her hair. Gods, she and Rin look as though they are an exact pair, mother and daughter as beautiful as can be. Sesshomarou thought to himself as he saw them approaching more quickly. “Master can Shipo and Keiko come play at our home please?”, Rin said exuberantly as she ran up to the silver haired taiyoukai. He looked down at his small dark haired ward and smiled gently, “All shall be coming back to our home Rin, we have a grand festival to plan and everyone will be around for many days.” , he said as he gazed at Keiko as she looked lovingly at the little girl speaking to the yokai. “Heh, I'm sure all of that will come in good time, but right now I think the pressing matter at hand is that the children are hungry and I think its time for them to settle down and eat.”, Keiko said softly as she looked at everyone. She felt a warm small cross her face as she looked at her cousin being held tight by her true love. “Should I go at give them sandwiches out of you're the picnic basket?” she asked quietly as she bent to pick up Shipo and hold him close. “Oh Keiko, that's a good idea, you go and feed them, I think everyone else is alright. Miroku and Sango are down at the village picking up the last things we need and me and Inuyasha and his brother will finish preparing before we leave!”, Kagome said cheerfully as she let go of Inuyasha and walked towards the dragon snoozing softly where Sesshomarou had landed. Keiko smiled shyly up at the taiyoukai still holding little Rin.

“You and your wife must be so proud of your child.”, she said softly her face blushing a deep pink. “Wife? I have no wife, Rin is mine alone to take care of.”, he said slightly surprised. What no wife? Oh gods I'm an idiot. Keiko thought desperately to herself. She giggled nervously running her hands through her hair trying to brush her bangs into her face. “Oh, I'm sorry I jumped to conclusions when I saw Rin with you and Shipo said she was like your daughter”, Keiko stuttered out stopping as she mentally slapped herself. He said like a daughter, not his daughter. Keiko raised her head her face a bright pink and laughed at her mistake, “I'm sorry again, emmm, Lord Sesshomarou”, she said meekly “I think I'll go take Rin and Shipo and feed them now.” She muttered softly as she looked down at the little girl now giggling at the high blush in Keiko's cheeks. Keiko stuck her tongue out playfully at the little girl and took her hand as she walked away hold Shipo and Rin's small hands in her own delicate ones.

Making her way over to the basket she looked down at the little kids holding her hands, both of them trying hard to stifle giggles. She let there hands go as she picked up the basket and brought it nearer to the Sakura trees. Keiko looked down again at the two children giggling at her still pink face. “Hehehhehe I thought you knew Rin wasn't his real daughter! Hehehe, you turned so red!”, Shipo laughed out as he rolled in the emerald grass, overcome by laughter. Keiko's pale cheeks grew redder yet as she heard the little kitsune's words. Wow, Shipo may have been small but he sure didn't miss much. Keiko thought to herself as she shuffled through the basket. She heard the soft girlish giggle coming from Rin, now joining Shipo on the ground. “Shipo's right, I don't even look like master!”, the little girl said playfully.

”Keh, well, I already made a fool of myself,” Keiko chuckled softly brushing her dark hair out of her face, “but you guys have to eat up right now before we have to leave. Then I promise you can laugh at me all you want!” she said softly as she handed the children two small sandwiches. Both of their eyes lit up at the sight of the food and began to munch happily, chattering to each other about what games they should play.

Keiko stood up smoothing the short skirt and blouse she had on, now rumpled from playing with the children. Her gaze slowly wandering to where Sesshomarou stood, handling the dragon he apparently arrived on. A small shiver going through her form as she looked at the taiyokai. She brought her delicate arms around her form, hugging herself tightly, unsure of why she couldn't stop looking at Inuyasha's half brother. She saw his gaze shift slowly to meet hers across the field and let out a small gasp, the deep pink blush returning to her face as she quickly turned back to the lunching children.

Sesshomarou laughed softly to himself, his yokai ears picking up the playful teasing the girl was enduring from his ward and her kitsune playmate. He found himself, enjoying the sound of her innocent voice responding gently to the children quieting them down. He was intrigued by her charming and sweet nature, still showing through despite her tragedy. But he soon found him scolding himself mentally against his growing interest in the human girl. Even though she had been near him for only a few hours he found himself growing intoxicated by the sweet way her form moved, and the delicate smell of innocence that came from her.

He shook his head violently trying to remove the intangible thoughts physically. He rationalized the only reason he wanted to know so much about the girl was simply because she would be a stranger entering his fortress soon. Trying desperately not to focus on the girl, he tended to Ah-Un, cursing himself silently for not bringing Jaken for this, when he felt someone looking at him.

He turned smoothly, his eyes greeting the startled violet ones. He watched the pretty blush rise in her cheeks as her mouth let out a small gasp. He saw her turn quickly around to lean back down towards the children. The soft curve of her back greeting his gaze as he traced it lightly with his eyes, stopping just above the band of her skirt, his keen sense of smell picking up the sharp spike in her sweet smell from her embarrassment. Sesshomarou turned sharply, tearing his gaze from her feminine form, working all the more diligently at readying Ah-Un.

“Ignoring her will be far harder then expected”, he nearly growled, still heady from the sweet smell intoxicating him.
