DISCLAIMER: they don't belong to me I swear… well except for her, points to the dark haired girl chatting with Kagome*.
Keiko followed her cousin up the stairs as they lugged the two brown suitcases with them. Keiko remembered how much she loved coming to visit her cousins, she always felt like Kagome was the sister she never had and was always sad that they didn't live closer. Her father had taught the United Kingdom to be a wonderful place to raise her and she had lived there ever since. But how she had looked forward to her trips to Japan. The way she fit in so well with Kagome and her friends at school and how much she loved playing with Souta and helping her aunt out. Then soon both her and Kagome entered High School and Kagome began her journey through the well with her powers. Keiko had loved all her tales of adventure and had urged her cousin on to find love with her hanyou. She remember how Kagome would call her late at night whispering so they wouldn't get in trouble and listening to her spill the details of her adventures and heartache and successes. Keiko felt the urge to cry again as she thought of how much better this trip would have been if her father had been able to send her off. Just as she reached the door she blinked back the tears and waited for Kagome to open the door.
”Oh Keiko! You're finally here!! We are so glad to see!”, the words all tumbling from Mrs. Higurashi's mouth as tears gleamed in her eyes and she rushed to hug the girl tight. “Kagome's friends are all here and waiting to finally meet you!”
Keiko smiled softly at her aunt's tight hug. She needed the reassurance of her aunts love to calm her and was so grateful to be quickly covered up by the warm embrace.
”Thank you Auntie. It's been so long since I've seen you last. I just wish the circumstances were different. I'm so happy you decided to let me stay here.” Keiko whispered softly. Souta was the next to come up and hug her tightly and wish her his welcome.
”Keiko I fixed up the extra bedroom with some new sheets mom bought! They're all green cause she knew that's your favorite color!” he said exuberantly. Keiko laughed at his excited way of explaining things, a shadow of her former joy sneaking onto her face.
”Thank You Souta. I'm sure I'll love it entirely!” she said to her younger cousin.
”Okay Keiko now it's time to introduce you to everyone you've heard so much about!” Kagome said aloud. “This is Shipo!” Kagome said pointing to the little kitsune. “We found him orphaned and now he is both mine and Inuyasha's adopted son!” The small kitsune approached Keiko and extended his arms in a hug. Keiko smiled at the incredibly cute gesture and bent on her knees to hug the fox demon. “It is so great to meet you Shipo.”, Keiko said softly after hugging the Kitsune.
”And this is Miroku and Sango.”, Kagome said as she pulled her cousin towards the demon slayer and houshi. Sango rushed forward and hugged the girl like they were the best of friends. They both felt like they knew each other so well by the exchange of stories between Kagome and the both of them. Miroku bowed low in greetings and felt a small urge to tell her to have his children as he was surprised by her beauty but quickly surpressed it when he thought of how it would hurt his Sango.
”And finally this is my Inuyasha,” Kagome said proudly as she finally presented her cousin her true love. Keiko couldn't help but smile as she bowed to the hanyou. She remembered the long nights she and Kagome had spent talking about what to do with him and remembered when her cousin finally called after such a long time to tell her that he had chosen her as his mate. She remembered how happy she was for her cousin and wishing she could find that kind of love. “It's wonderful to finally meet you all! Kagome has said so many wonderful things about all of you and I am so glad you all came to welcome me.” Keiko said a bit more happily as she finally got to meet the people her best friend spent so much time with. Everyone soon fell out of the formalities and began chattering hurriedly trying to pry out of her every piece of information they could from Kagome's cousin. Keiko's mood lightened immensely as she was answering all sorts of questions left and right. “Oh daddy, you'd love these people so much. They are all so warm and friendly and welcoming.” She thought to herself. She knew how happy he would be to se her smiling again, something that she felt she hadn't done in forever. Soon late night had come and it was time for everyone to settle in for the night. Keiko went to her room and began to settle down onto her bed slipping into the soft green nightdress her aunt had bought for her. She heard a soft knock at the door and new immediately it had to be Kagome. “Hey Keiko, I have some gifts I still want to give you.”, Kagome said as she wandered into the room and plopped down on the soft bed. “I told Inuyasha to go to sleep because I would be spending time with you.” , she said giggling softly. “Here I want you to open these up.” Keiko smiled at her cousin and gingerly began to unwrap presents. Kagome had gotten her a beautifully intricate hair pin, and a pair of soft silk slippers. “Oh Kagome, they are so beautiful!” Keiko gasped out, as she hugged her cousin tightly. “Thank you Kagome.”
Kagome looked at her cousin for a second then got up and waked to the closet and pulled out a larger box wrapped in red shimmery paper. “Now I want you to open this and then I'm going to ask you something very important.” Keiko nodded her head and began to tear open her final present only to gasp out loud at what lay before her. She pulled out a soft green silk kimono, the back displaying the vivid imagery of a waterfall. She looked back in the box and saw a soft blue obi matching the blues of the water scene on the kimono. “Oh Kagome it's all so beautiful, but I don't think I can accept it. I don't have anything to use this for and it must have cost you a fortune!”, she said as she stared wide eyed at her cousin. “Well, Keiko, we are all leaving tomorrow, we have to travel to Inuyasha's elder brothers fortress, because there me and Inuyasha will finally be wed. I want you to come along and stay there with us for the duration of the festivities. I know you just got here but I want you to come with me, it's been so long since we have been together and I rather you be traveling around occupied then here alone, dwelling on what's happened. I know I don't expect you to forget it all but it's been over two months since the courts have been able to settle the matter and you have spent to long alone and crying. I want you to come back with us and maybe forget the troubles of this time for a while. Will you Keiko?” , Kagome said pleadingly.
Keiko felt her eyes feeling with tears as she realized how much her cousin wanted her near her. How much her cousin wanted her to smile freely again. “Oh Kagome, I would love to come along, maybe this will be good for me. And I've always wanted to know what it was like. Of course I will come to your wedding and I will stay as long as you wish me too!” , Keiko said as tears spilled out from her eyes. She hugged her cousin tightly as they both began to cry, from joy that they knew the other was there for them and for the chance to make Keiko happy again. The rest of the night they stayed up packing what Keiko would need to travel back to feudal Japan. Shuffling back and forth in the room, laughter being heard as Keiko smiled a bit more knowing her cousin was going out of the way to try and make her happy. They fell asleep together in the bed waiting for the sun to rise.

”Okay mom, Keiko will be coming back with us for the ceremony! She said that she would stay as long as I wanted her there so I just may keep here with me forever.” Kagome said teasingly to her mother. A small smile crossed her mother's face as she thought of the trouble the girls would get into together. “Well, Kagome take care of her, and don't let her hurt anymore then she has.” Her mother said sternly, then her parental face softened and smiled. “And make sure you make her smile.” Kagome nodded and ran towards the well house where everyone was waiting for her.
”So Keiko you'll be staying with us for a while then?” Miroku asked her. She looked at the monk holding Sango close and smiled “Hai, I think I will be.”
”Oh wow! This is great, we are going to have so much fun! And I'll show you all sorts of neat things Inuyasha's taught me!” Keiko looked down to see the little kitsune so happy to have her come along. Her heart skipped a bit looking at how cute he was. `no wonder Kagome loves him so.' She thought to herself. She looked up at the hanyou blushing furiously at his adopted son's praises and couldn't help but start giggling. “You must be so proud of him Inuyasha-sama. If he learned to be so exuberant and helpful from you I must say you are a great teacher!”, Keiko said aloud as she watched the hanyou's eyes widen in surprise and he laughed nervously as he felt his ego begin to rise. “Eh , well you can't expect much less from a great teacher huh?” , he said no longer blushing.
”Oh yes Inuyasha, you're such a wise and wonderful teacher aren't you!”, Sango quipped. “Shut up you or else!!”, Inuyasha replied all the more heated now and everyone began to laugh as Kagome walked towards them.
“Okay I think we are all ready to go now, I told mom we'll be leaving now and that will be back again soon.”, Kagome said cheerfully, “Okay everybody lets go.” Kagome said as they all head into the well fading out of view. The next thing Keiko new she was being pulled out of the well to be greeted by trees and blue sky, and a loud yelling.

”Sesshoumoura! What in the world are you thinking swooping down at me on that thing!!!!'' Keiko heard the angry voice of the hanyou behind her and turned to be greeted by the most handsome silver haired figure holding the hand of a small dark haired girl.
”Oh, Inuyasha stop yelling! I'm sure he didn't mean to and besides you're scaring Rin.”, Kagome said commandingly. Keiko giggled as she saw the hanyou set his jaw firm grinding his teeth to keep from yelling.
”Hey Rin! Let's go play!”, Keiko turned to see the little red haired kitsune running to go play with the little girl. She quickly let go of the silver haired yokai's hand and ran after the little kitsune. “Aww, Shipo wait up!” she said as she chased after the kitsune.
”Sesshomarou, I would like you to meet my cousin Keiko, she will be coming to the ceremony at you're fortress.”, Kagome said matter of factly. Keiko looked up startled as she heard her introductions being made. She walked over to where her cousin was standing and bowed at the yokai standing above her. She made sure it was low and deep not entirely sure why but she felt as though he had some regal air to him. Keiko rose slowly to be greeted by the piercing gaze of the golden eyes above her, and she felt a soft blush rising in her cheeks. “It's a pleasure to meet you Sesshomarou-sama” she said softly barely above a choked whisper.

Sesshomarou struggled not to let out a loud gasp as he saw how truly beautiful the girl was, her startling violet eyes gazing up at her. He nodded slightly acknowledging her and cast a small questioning glance to his younger brother who only smirked and walked to hold Kagome tighter. He looked back at the beautiful girl and found himself not objecting at the chance of having her in his fortress for the many nights ahead. He interrupted hid own thoughts to find that she was blushing under his intense gaze and smiled softly. “The pleasure is all mine Keiko-sama”, he said softly. He intended to learn all he could from his brother's mate about her kin. He found himself so intrigued by the small girl, despite the fact that she was human and was determined to learn all he could.
