Tragic Love Triangle
Chapter 1
Announcement
As a young girl, Higurashi, Kagome was taken from her family. The whole village was raided for beautiful young women to satisfy the new lord. Naraku had an insatiable appetite for women. He always chose the most beautiful of the bunch. He accompanied his soldiers on this raid, and found Kagome.
Kagome, at the time, was twelve years old. Naraku saw her and saw the potential beauty in her. The fire in her eyes was sure to grow. He loved the way she looked at him, with such pure hatred in her eyes. Even though she was too young, the new lord thought that he could have her later when she grew up. If she was that beautiful at such a young age, then when she was older she would most certainly be a goddess.
He was right.
Four years later, Kagome had the smoothest ivory skin, the darkest raven black hair, perfect body, and the most beautiful brown eyes. Of course, Naraku was aware of the changes. She was always at his side. Leaving only to take care of personal business, sleeping, or when Naraku had some business to take care of.
Kagome always wore the most unusual clothing. It was a sign that she was the most important to Naraku, and was not to be touched by anyone but him. Most of the clothing was specially made or bought from another country. Now, she was wearing a long sleeve shirt that went just below her breasts, revealing her stomach. She was wearing a skirt that went down to mid calf. The entire outfit was black.
Tonight was special. An announcement of an engagement was to be revealed. Naraku was throwing a ball for all the important lords and ladies. The most important were Sesshomaru and Inuyasha from the Western Lands. They were so close together that Naraku needed them as allies, not enemies. They were staying at the castle as guests until an agreement was made.
The ball had already begun. The announcement was to be made at any moment now. Kagome was sitting in her room waiting, to make her appearance. She heard the door open and knew it was Naraku. He was the only one who didn't knock before coming in.
Kagome was sitting at her vanity mirror, and saw him walk towards her. Once he reached her, he put his hands on her shoulders. "You look beautiful." He said. "I got something for you."
Kagome said nothing and didn't move at all. She never really responded to Naraku. He only thought of her as a prize and not a person. She rarely opened up to him. The only times she talked was when he made her.
Naraku pulled out a box from his pocket. Inside the box was a necklace. It was a gold chain with a jewel on it. He moved her hair and put it around her neck. "It's beautiful." Kagome said knowing he wouldn't take silence for an answer.
"Wear it tonight. Kagura will be in shortly to get you after I've made the announcement." Naraku said. He squeezed her shoulder gently and walked out of the room.

"I wonder what all the excitement is about." Miroku said.
"Naraku is to make an important announcement." Sesshomaru said.
"He should just get it over with. I'm tired of waiting." Inuyasha yelled.
"Patience, dear brother." Sesshomaru said. They were all standing in the throne room waiting for Naraku to show up.
Everyone grew quiet as Naraku walked towards the center of the room. "As you all know, you've been gathered here because I have an important announcement." Naraku said. "I am to announce my engagement."
Everyone cheered but Sesshomaru, Inuyasha, and Miroku. Sesshomaru had the same indifferent look, Miroku had a smile on his face, and Inuyasha scowled. He wasted his time hearing about a stupid announcement that could've been read in a note or something.
With that, his intended walked into the room, and walked up to Naraku. He took her hand and kissed her on the cheek. "This is my bride to be, Kagome." Naraku said.
Everyone gawked at the beautiful woman in front of them. Naraku beamed with pride at the looks on their faces. He knew she would blow them away. After the shock wore off everyone cheered.
Inuyasha still gawked at the goddess next to the new lord. "Don't even think about it." Sesshomaru whispered.
Inuyasha snapped his mouth shut and glared at him. "Think about what?" Sesshomaru just gave him a knowing glare. "Keh."
Sesshomaru watched as he walked away. "Keep him away from the girl." Sesshomaru told Miroku.
"Hai." Miroku said and went on his way to find Inuyasha. From the looks of it, Inuyasha was going to make some enemies. Inuyasha was getting a drink when Miroku found him. "Inuyasha, Sesshomaru would like to have a word with you."
"What does he want?" Inuyasha growled.
"He would not tell me why, just that he wanted to speak to you." Miroku lied.
Inuyasha grumbled and searched for his brother. He was in the same spot as earlier looking around. "What did you want to talk about?" He said gruffly.
"What are you talking about?" Sesshomaru asked.
"Miroku said you wanted to talk to me." Inuyasha said.
"I said no such thing." They both looked to Miroku for an answer.
"I guess I misunderstood what he said." Miroku laughed nervously.
"You won't have that problem when I'm through with you!" Inuyasha growled.
"Quiet." Sesshomaru said to both of them.
Naraku walked up to them with Kagome by his side. She was even more beautiful up close. "Lord Sesshomaru, I hope your travel to my lands was an easy trip." He said.
"It was." Sesshomaru said.
"Kagome, this is Lord Sesshomaru of the Western Lands." Naraku introduced. "This is my bride to be Kagome."
"You've picked a beautiful bride." Sesshomaru said. "This is my half brother, Inuyasha, and our friend Miroku. Please excuse their childishness from earlier. They have yet to grow up."
Inuyasha snorted and Miroku straightened himself. Inuyasha couldn't help but look at Kagome every once in a while. It went unnoticed by them all but Kagome. She caught him looking her way a few times.
"I've noticed that the clothes she wears are not from around here." Sesshomaru said.
"Ah, so you've noticed. I provide her with clothing that no one has seen before. They come from other countries." Naraku said. "Shall we talk business? At least a couple of arrangements before the night is over?"
"Hai. Inuyasha, Miroku stay here. And don't do anything stupid." Sesshomaru glared at Inuyasha.
"Keh." Inuyasha replied.
"Hai, Sesshomaru." Miroku said.
"Why don't you talk to Inuyasha and Miroku?" Naraku said. He leaned down and kissed her on her cheek before leaving with Sesshomaru.
"Ah Kagome-sama, how long have you known Naraku?" Miroku asked trying to start a conversation.
"Please, lets skip the formalities. I've known Naraku for four years." Kagome said. "How are the western lands? Are they as beautiful as the travelers have said?"
"Hai, they are the most beautiful lands I've seen. I have not taken a tour of your land, so I don't know of its beauty." Miroku said. His eyes trailed off as a young woman walked past him. "If you'll excuse me..."
Inuyasha and Kagome watched as he trailed after the young woman. "Lecher." Inuyasha snorted.
"So, Sesshomaru is your half brother?" Kagome asked.
"We have the same father. His mother died giving birth to him. My father met my mother, and here I am." Inuyasha said.
"You speak as if you don't like your brother." Kagome said.
"Of course not. Who would like that emotionless bastard?" Inuyasha said with a light growl.
Kagome giggled and stopped when Inuyasha looked at her. "Gomen, it's just that I don't have any siblings. I find it funny how you despise your brother when you should be grateful to have him."
Inuyasha smiled happy that he could make her laugh. She seemed unhappy the whole night that he'd seen her. She had a sad distant look in her eyes until now. "I'd rather not have any siblings." He said.
"If you'll excuse me I think I'll go somewhere less crowded." Kagome said suddenly aware of all the people around.
"May I accompany you?" Inuyasha asked. "I don't like being bunched up with a group of smelly people."
Once again he made her laugh and his heart warmed a little because of it. "If you'd like." She said. She led them outside to the gardens. The moon was the only light that shown down upon them. It was such a relief to be away from all of the noise and unwanted attention. Kagome could feel their eyes on her and saw some whispering to other people.
"This is much better." Inuyasha sighed, as he could smell the fresh air instead of all the youkai and humans.
"Hai, I'd rather stare at the moon, than get to know all of those people." Kagome said.
"When's the wedding?" Inuyasha asked.
Kagome tensed, not wanting to really talk about it. "Whenever Naraku feels it should be." She said.
"You don't seem too thrilled about marrying him." Inuyasha said.
"I should get back inside. Naraku will be upset if I'm not where he can find me." Kagome said and rushed back inside.
Inuyasha stood out in the gardens wondering if she really did want to marry him. He saw her tense and could hear the nervousness in her voice when she ignored his question. She didn't want to marry him. He could tell.
For some reason he wanted to take her away, make her laugh like she did before. Her eyes were full of sadness, an empty void waiting to be filled. Odd how he just met her moments ago but felt such a strong attraction towards her.

It may take a while to get updates going because I haven't really thought this fic thru. I might change the chapter title too. It won't be too long either. Hope you like it. Let me know what you think. Ja ne.
