Tragic Love Triangle
Chapter 20
The War Comes To An End
“Inuyasha!” Kagome said when he came into view.
Naraku grabbed Kagome around her waist and brought her flush up against him, her back to his chest, with her hands held behind her back and he smiled maliciously. “Ah Inuyasha, you seem to be holding up well during the fights.” He said.
“Cut the shit Naraku. Let her go!” Inuyasha growled.
“Things are never that easy.” Naraku ran a claw from up her chest to her throat. “This mark can be easily removed.”
Inuyasha had to use all the control he had not to kill Naraku right then and there. He was touching his mate and wanted to remove the mark. “You'll be dead before you get that chance!” He growled.
“Ah, don't talk that way. Someone may get hurt.” Naraku said and made an inch long cut along Kagome's neck. “She's of more value to you than to me. I could kill her and get the Shikon no Tama.”
“If she's not of value to you then give her back!” Inuyasha growled.
“That would be too easy. I do like her beauty and her body...” Naraku trailed a hand from her neck to her breast and licked the blood that dripped from the cut. He smiled at the hanyou's reaction.
Inuyasha gripped the tetsusaiga. It was the only thing to keep him from seeing red, to keep from changing into a full youkai. If his anger grew enough he would snap and change into a bloodthirsty killer. He didn't want Kagome to see that side of him.
“Stop it!” Inuyasha said through gritted teeth.
“What? Don't like seeing other men touch your mate?” Naraku asked. “Does your blood boil at the sight of her in my arms knowing you can't do anything about it without putting her at risk?”
“Stop it!” Inuyasha said once again. The tetsusaiga wasn't going to be able to restrain his demon blood for long.
“Inuyasha.” Kagome said. She could tell he was holding back from something but she didn't know what. “Don't hold back. Whatever happens happens. I love you.”
Naraku growled before hitting her and throwing her to the ground. “Don't say that!” He yelled.
Kagome laid on the ground not moving at all. Naraku's hit was harder than he thought. “Well at least she won't be a bother for the moment.” He smirked. “I'll take her back with me once I kill you. She'll have my mark by tomorrow.”
Inuyasha's head was lowered. He saw Kagome hit the ground and dug his claws into his hands, blood dripped from his palms. He couldn't do anything to prevent her from getting hurt. He had dropped the tetsusaiga long ago...
Naraku felt the wind change and sniffed the air. Something wasn't right. He looked at Inuyasha. He was breathing deep and didn't smell like himself...Finally it hit Naraku. Inuyasha wasn't a hanyou anymore...he almost smelt like a...youkai...that couldn't be possible.
Inuyasha looked up at Naraku with blood red eyes. Two purple streaks appeared under each eye and his fangs and claws grew. His mind was empty of all thoughts except that the hanyou standing in front of him was the one who injured his mate and posed as a big threat towards him.
Naraku didn't care how it happened. All he cared about was getting rid of him. His hands changed into tentacles and lashed out at Inuyasha. Inuyasha easily dodged the strike with ease. He could predict all of his movements.
Inuyasha smirked and flexed his claws. He charged Naraku and swiped at his chest, making three big clean cuts. Naraku stumbled back and prepared himself for another attack. He was able to dodge his next couple attacks.
The fight seemed to go on forever. Both swinging, missing, blocking. Naraku's injuries weren't bad enough to affect his skills. He was able to fight the same as usual. He was already healing even with the constant movement.
Suddenly out of nowhere a blue light came from behind Naraku and hit him in the back. His body disintegrated and only his head was left to float where he once stood. He looked behind him and saw Kagome on her knees with her hands in the position to shoot an arrow.
“Inu...yasha.” She said before falling to the ground unconscious.
Inuyasha's eyes changed back to its original amber color, the streaks disappearing, his claws and fangs returning to their normal length. The sound of her voice changed him back to a hanyou, his demon blood receding. Kagome had used the time she was conscious to hit Naraku with her purifying arrow.
“Kagome.” He said affectionately.
“Damn you!” Naraku growled at Kagome. “I should've taken care of you when I had the chance!”
Inuyasha growled before doing a back flip to pick up the tetsusaiga. He jumped high into the air, the tetsusaiga transforming during the process. “Naraku!” Inuyasha growled before coming down on him.
Naraku had a look of shock while Inuyasha advanced towards him. He was distracted by Kagome's arrow. He could survive the blow from the arrow but not with Inuyasha's attack.
Inuyasha landed and turned around just in time to see Naraku's head split in two before turning into ash and blew away with the wind. Naraku was finally dead.
Inuyasha dropped the tetsusaiga and ran to Kagome's side. He picked her up and listened to her steady heartbeat. She was still alive. She just overexerted herself with the blast to Naraku. With a smile he carried her back to the castle.
-------------------
Kagura was watching the battle from the air. Sango had long ago given up on attacking her when she noticed that below they needed her more. She was watching with a smile on her face. Things were starting to turn around.
Suddenly she felt a pull at her heart. She gasped and grabbed her chest. The only explanation to that was that Naraku had been defeated. Sure enough she saw Inuyasha walk into view with Kagome in his arms. It was true. Naraku had been defeated.
She flew down above Naraku's youkai. “Naraku has been defeated! You know longer have to fight for him!” She shouted. She flew towards Sesshomaru. “Our people will leave your lands. We are no longer bound to Naraku and don't have to fight for him anymore.”
Sesshomaru nodded and withdrew. He signaled for his people to stop fighting. They all walked back behind him, prepared just in case it was a trick. After a while the youkai were all gone, they had fled as fast as they could happy that Naraku was dead, but also scared of Sesshomaru, in case he might attack anyway.
Inuyasha walked into view with Kagome. “They withdrew?” He asked.
“Their leader is dead. They are no longer bound to him and can do as they please.” Sesshomaru said.
“Bastard should've suffered a lot more.” Inuyasha growled.
“Everyone go inside and rest. You've all lived up to your duties and deserve time off. The people who were evacuated will be brought back immediately.” Sesshomaru announced to everyone. After a shout of cheers they all went inside the castle walls.
“How is she?” Sango asked.
“She'll be fine after some rest.” Inuyasha said.
“How are you?” Miroku asked.
“I'll be fine after she wakes up.” Inuyasha looked down at her.
“Let's get inside and get her cleaned up.” Miroku said. He heard a light growl from Inuyasha. “I meant so you could clean her up.”
“Come on Miroku before he gets angry and kills you too.” Sango dragged him inside. “You can hear his story later.”
“Good work.” Sesshomaru said.
“Shouldn't you get your mate?” Inuyasha asked.
“I think she'll be angry with me.” Sesshomaru said as he hurried to her.
-------------------
Three days later all the youkai were healed. Everything was cleaned up and everyone was already back in the castle. Kouga and his wolves had left after the wounded had recovered. Sesshomaru thanked them for their help and they were glad to have been able to help.
They had spent the second day as a day of mourning. The dead were buried and had prayers performed for them. Fortunately there weren't that many fatalities and the wounded were just a minimal amount of fast healing youkai. Sango and Miroku were the only humans besides Kagome fighting and they hadn't gotten many injuries.
Inuyasha was sitting at the edge of his bed. Three days and Kagome had shown no signs of waking up. She had a bruise on her face, a cut on her neck, and a broken wrist. She was healing quickly but still hadn't woken up. Until she did Inuyasha refused to leave her side.
Things were finally looking up when he heard a moan from behind him. He turned around and saw Kagome's arm rise to her head. “It's too bright.” Kagome moaned.
Inuyasha rushed next to her and moved her into his lap. “Kagome! You're okay!” He said.
“My head hurts.” She said but opened her eyes to look at him. “Inuyasha your alright!”
“Don't get too excited, you're still wounded.” Inuyasha said. It took all of his strength not to hug her. He didn't want to injure her anymore.
“How is everyone else?” Kagome sat up.
“Everyone's fine. The youkai are healed. Sango and Miroku weren't seriously wounded and are recovering now. Kouga and his wolves left. Everyone who was evacuated is back in the castle.” Inuyasha said.
“Naraku?” Kagome asked, fearing the answer.
“I killed him. After you hit him with your arrow his attention turned to you and I used tetsusaiga on him to get rid of him for good.” Inuyasha explained. “His people were no longer bound to him and left peacefully.”
“That's great!” Kagome wrapped her arms around him and kissed him. Naraku was no longer in the way of them.
“I love you Kagome.” Inuyasha smiled.
“I love you too Inuyasha.” Kagome said and they kissed again.
End.
