Trouble
Chapter 1: Change
"You're such a JERK!"
"Am not, you're the one who keeps using excuses to get away from me! If you don't want to stay with me anymore, just fuckin' say so!"
He was pointing at her with a clawed index finger, as he barked at her. Her cheeks were flushed from all her own yelling and feelings of anger. She silently wondered how many 'sits' it would take to break his spine. Dark brown hair was fluffed up around her heart shaped face, like a cat when hissing or scared. But she was far from scared. Kagome was pissed.
"How dare you! I want to find all the shards as much as you do, Inuyasha, but I have another life too! And that requires me to go back every once in a blue moon, to try to keep it steady! And if-" She took a deep breath, and blinked at his form standing in front of her, red haori flapping in the fall breeze. Colored leaves floated down from the heavens and landed on the green grass. His doggy ears twitched in agitation at her pause, "What?!"
"And if you can't understand that, then I suppose you never will," she spoke softly, and turned on her heel to walk to the wooden well only a couple of feet from her. She gripped the side, knuckles going white at how tight her hand held on. She waited for him to say something, anything to keep her here, and to allow her hope still.
But birds chirped in reply and she heard his retreating footsteps which caused a knot to form in her throat. She swallowed, hard, and forced herself not to burst into tears. 'It just can't be helped,' she thought, and then jumped over the side to the world beyond.

The tears came forth as soon as the blue light faded and she could hear the distant sound of the school chime. Her head fell into her hands, as she sobbed, "Why? Why doesn't he ever say anything? Gods, he's such an asshole!"
"Sis?" A boyish voice called from above, as tiny footsteps came closer. She quickly dried her eyes and put on her best smile, then climbed up and out. Souta was there, holding her fat cat Buyo, with a grin on his face, "I'm taking 'em for 'Show and Tell'."
She nodded and winked, "Trying to impress someone special?"
"No!" He cried out, "I just thought a cat would be cool!"
She giggled, "Yeah, I'm sure Souta. Am I late for school?"
"Nope, just in time. Mom's inside, if you wanna grab something to eat," he pointed in the direction of the house, then looked up at her, "well, gotta go! See ya later, Sis!"
He trotted off, the cat mewling in protest, and she watched him go. Kagome sighed, ran a hand through her thick strands of hair, then went into the house to grab her extra bookbag, since she had left her yellow one in the Feudal Era. She gave her Mom and Grandpa a quick kiss, before going off to school.

"He's looking for you!" Eri told Kagome, gleefully, after classes had let out for the day. The young girl knew exactly who she was talking about, and it caused her to blush as said boy walked up to her and Eri.
He gave a tooth-filled smile, "Hey Kagome. How are you?"
She smiled back, sending a glance at Eri before answering, "I'm doing good. How about you, Hojo?"
"I'd be wonderful if you agreed to go out with me tonight."
"Tonight?" She repeated, surprised, but Eri nudged her a little, and whispered in her ear, "Come on, Kags, you need a break."
Kagome's thoughts quickly turned to her hanyou friend, but then she shook it away. She would never feel guilty about this, "Sure."
"Really?" Hojo asked in disbelief, a light pink staining his cheeks. She nodded and he almost jumped in joy, but then just shook her hand akwardly, "great! I'll pick you up around 7pm?"
She nodded, once more, giving a sweet smile, "7 would be great."
He let go of her hand and ambled off, a skip in his step, waving at them both. Eri squeeled in delight, giving her friend a hug, "Time to get you an outfit!"
Kagome laughed, as they both yelled in unison, "Mall!"

Mrs.Higurashi finished the rest of her daughter's makeup and gave a motherly smile, as she stated, "Perfect."
Kagome bit the inside of her cheek, nervous and anxious, as she stood up from the living room couch to go look in the bathroom mirror. What she saw took her own breath away. It was a natural look, so all the lipstick, foundation, and eyeshadow did was eccenturate (sp?) her true beauty.
She smiled at herself and wondered why Inuyasha didn't see her like this. 'He just doesn't love me, as I do him. He loves...' She couldn't finish that thought, no matter how hard she tried to, so she went back out to the living room to wait for her date.

She was giggling, still tasting the sake and popcorn inside her mouth, as they walked up to her front door. The lights were all off from what she could see, so she looked at Hojo's lips as they parted to speak, "Well, I guess this is goodnight, then."
Kagome swallowed down her laughter then replied, "I still can't believe you got me to drink sake! Besides that, Hojo I had really wonderful time. Thank you."
Hojo blushed and nodded, "It was no problem. I know you don't get a chance to go out all that much, so I thought it would be good for you."
She grinned, "You were right. I feel a lot better."
He chuckled, a couple of fingers on his right hand fidgeting, then he cleared his throat, expression turning serious, "Kagome, may I?"
She looked confused for a moment before nodding shyly, closing her eyes. Hojo's lips were amazingly soft and warm, as he pressed them against her's gently. She pressed back, arms wrapping around his neck. The chaste kiss lasted only a moment, but to Kagome it was a moment to always treasure, because it was her first real kiss.
Hojo said goodnight and left, leaving Kagome wanting a little bit more. Of what? She really didn't know. She entered into the silent house, as quietly as she could, then shut the door. She tiptoed upstairs and caught Grandpa's loud snoring, which caused her to giggle again. She quickly put a hand over her mouth to shush her laughter, as she went into her room and closed the door.
She kicked off her high-heels in the darkness and sat down on her bed, laughing behind her hand. She pushed down the giddiness and began to undress, but her giggles returned when she realized she couldn't remember how to undo her bra. So, on that note, she gave up and laid down, pulling the covers up to her neck.
Oh, she was tired after walking around downtown Tokyo with Hojo and talking about everything with him, excluding her travels. He was a really cool guy and Kagome silently regretted not realizing it before. 'I should go out with him more often. He's so sweet and caring! Plus, that was so fun!' Her honey orbs fluttered closed, a grin plastered on her lips, as she whispered, "And such a nice kisser, too."
Her eyes shot back open when she heard a semi-loud crash in her closet. She immediately got back out of bed and walked, cautiously, towards the closed closet door. 'It's probably just the damn cat. He always gets stuck in there!' One shaky hand paused before gripping the handle, "Buyo?"
She opened it and watched in horror as Inuyasha tumbled out. She shrieked, "Inuyasha?! What in the hell are you doing in my closet, of all places?!"

As soon as he straightened himself out, since he had fallen on the carpet, he stood up and growled, "Why did you get home so late?"
Hands over her hips in a stern stance, she snapped back, "That's none of your business!"
He approached her slowly, his nostrils flaring and the unmistakable sound of him sniffing filled the room, "Why do you smell like that Hojo guy?"
She blushed, and looked down to avoid his pirecing glare, to only notice she was wearing just her bra and panties. 'And they're Snoopy panties at that.' She "eep'd" and ran back to her bed, covering herself with the comforter, "Why won't you just leave?"
He scoffed and moved close to the bed, "Did you fuck 'em?"
Her eyes went wide at his bluntness and gasped, "You're so rude! Get out!"
"No. Answer me."
"I don't have to do anything, Inuyasha!" She yelled, her ears catching Grandpa still snoring loudly. The hanyou's amber orbs glowed in the moonlight flowing in through her window, as he sat down on the mattress. She stared at him and he glared right back, "Just go."

He pounced on top of her, grabbing the hands gripping the blanket and holding them above her head, then pushed her down onto the mattress, making it squeak in protest. She gasped and was about to scream, but her voicebox froze when his lips slashed across her's. She fought against him, her brain trying to comprehend what the hell was going on, as he pressed himself against her body.
His warm lips moved against her's rhythmically, the tip of his tongue running across her bottom lip. Her eyes were wide, heart pounding in her ears, as she watched his eyes close. Her lips parted, granting him entrance and he took it greedily, running his tongue along the sides of her own. She could hear and feel the low growl coming from deep in his chest. Her stomach flipped and imaginary butterflies flapped their delicate wings in a frenzy. She half-noted the tingling in her toes, as he nibbled at her lip, then finally broke away for what she hoped was air.
Kagome was shocked and confused, as her mouth tried to form words. He breathed heavily as his eyes opened to look at her, "Did you fuck him?"
His voice came out husky and deliciously raw, which caused her heart to skip a beat. She cleared her throat, her voice barely a whisper, "No." He leaned down, capturing her lips once more and setting her soul on fire, but he suddenly broke away and let go of her hands. She laid there stunned, when he got off her bed, opened the window, and jumped off into the night.
