Chapter 6

~*~*~*~*~*~*~Meetings-Part 1 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~

She saw him again. She heard the sound of him breaking the gun-man's arm to release the device. The bloody wound in his chest, right by his heart, was still steadily bleeding through the white shirt.

“Call the cops, and I'm sorry I could not help your friend,” he started to walk from the room.

“Wait, who are you?” Destiny spoke quietly. `Why did I ask that?'

She remembered that she never saw his face, why?

“You can call me your Guardian. Do not say that I was here. Oh and, here take this, a reminder of our meeting.” she wondered…if he was suppose to be her guardian…why had he never showed himself? Why did he not want her to see his face? And the fang, were did he get it?

“It's almost time…It's almost time…It's almost time…”A female voice whispered as the dream faded into darkness. The voice, Destiny knew she had heard before. “Help us, save us, save us all. Help us, save us, save us all,” the voice sounded again, it seemed to drift in and out. The darkness quickly flashed bright, white filling everything. The darkness once again took over as the woman cried bloody-murder.

Destiny sat up gasping for breath, the dreams came every night now a day. The fang around her neck pulsed and let off a low light, she grabbed the fang and studied it `Why the fuck is it doing now?' Destiny jumped, Pyro had leaped up on the bed to sniff at the glowing fang. He started to purr then rubbed against Destiny. She quickly glanced down at the black kitten, returning her gaze to the fang, but it had returned to its original state. `Damn it, not again,' she shook her head, to clear her head of the woman's voices. Her loose black hair covered her face as she did.

Destiny looked over at her bedside clock, 6:30am. She still had an hour before she was suppose to wake up, today was the benefit concert at the Hyama mansion. Funny thing was, today would be the first time Destiny would be seeing Kira's family in her entire life, other then on the T.V. Kira had always been a little mysterious about his family, all that Destiny knew was that his father had died when Kira was a couple weeks old, and his mother was hardly ever seen. Kira and his mother had lived with his grandparents at the mansion for all of Kira's life.

Pyro's soft fur on her leg brought Destiny out of her thoughts. She patted the cat and rose off her bed. Walking over to her closet Destiny pulled a pair of gray shorts and a black bikini top and put them on. As she walked around the room she idly turned her earrings, five on each ear. Destiny paused at the large mirror reaching for her hairbrush she pulled her silky black hair into a ponytail.

“Come on Pyro, I'm not going to get back to sleep and I know your probably hungry,” Destiny said quietly to the feline. The cat looked up at her with his golden eyes and meowed.

“Well, come on then,” Destiny walked out the door and down the stairs. As they strode into to kitchen, the phone rang.

`Who the hell would call at this hour?' she thought.

“`Ello'? Higurashi residence, Destiny speaking,” she placed the cordless phone between her ear and shoulder as she opened the cupboards to find some food.

“Why can't you always talk like that all the time?” Kira answered jokingly.

Destiny pulled the phone out in front of her and blew a raspberry at it, pulling it back she explained, “Because I have a reputation to uphold, and my grandma would whack me upside the head if I answered the phone like I talk to you guys.”

“Fine then. You couldn't sleep? Excited?”

Destiny snorted. “Me? Nah, I had another dream again and I knew I couldn't get back to bed. So why are you up so early?”

“Early? Honey, I slept in. My family wakes up at the crack of dawn.”

“Kira, Kira, Kira. Your family is…different…I think,” Destiny could hear Kira chuckle over the phone.

“Different is an understatement. So what was this dream about?”

Destiny thought about how to explain her dream/memory to him. As she looked at the calendar on the fridge, Destiny stopped breathing for a moment as she realized the date, and took it into consideration.

“You know that…today…” she paused at force the words out, “Today was the day that Phoenix died.”

“Yeah…” he said grimly, “did that have something to do with your dream?”

“Yeah, it did. I…I dreamt of the night that she…you know,” her hands shook lightly as she pulled a pack of bacon from the freezer.

“What was it about this time?”

“It had that guy again, and this time I heard a voice, a woman's voice.”

“Do you recognize the voice? Maybe that could be a clue.”

Destiny shook her head and reached for a frying pan. “Yes and no, I know the voice but haven't heard it in forever and I don't know who it is.”

“Weird, could it be the woman in your other dream, from the field?”

“Maybe, but I never heard the voices in that dream, they have always been muffled and monotone.”

“Have you ever really thought about why you have that dream?”

“No, not really…but…OUCH…DAMN BASTARD WORTHLESS PIECE OF SHIT!” Destiny stuck her finger in her mouth and then under cold water, she had burnt herself on a hot splash of fat.

“What happened? What did you do now?” his voice sounded worried.

“I burnt myself on some flying bacon fat. That shit hurts. Anyways as I was saying, no, but I think that in some past life of something I had seen that. What do I know?” Destiny shrugged, returning to her cooking.

“Have you ever thought you could have been there in this lifetime? When you were little maybe, and the people there could be your parents?”

“I don't know…I just don't know anymore…”

“You don't believe that?”

“No, it could be possible, but so can anything at this point. So, what's on today's plans, Mr. Manager?” she said trying to change the subject.

“Well A) don't ever call me that again, and B) I told my family we could play like four or five songs for them, not too much. Hey Dest?”

“Yeah?”

“I was wondering…if you would want to sing a song…for Phoenix…since today is-.”

“Yeah, I will, if I can. Well, I'll call you later Kira. I'm getting ready to eat. Bye.”

“Bye, Dest.” he hung up the phone.

Destiny knew that by know she should be able to talk about that night, right? Still, she could not get over the sights, feeling. Destiny knew it was three years past, but it still hurt like it happened yesterday. The dreams hadn't helped, they made her remember that night, and it wouldn't let her forget.

Maybe if I sing her song, it will help me move on…she did ask me to,' Destiny thought. `Just maybe.'

Kira placed the phone back on its base, letting his head fall against the cream coloured wall. `Why isn't she talking?'

“What's wrong dear?”

Kira looked up and smiled at his mother. Kimi Hyama was a woman in her late thirties, her face and skin showed that of a woman a decade younger. Clothed in beige shorts and a green tank-top, which showed her mid-drift, completed the very young look. Short brown hair was tied in a messy bun with chopsticks as usual. Her deep brown eyes met her son's.

“Destiny, she's having a problem and she ain't talking,” Kira turned to face his mother completely.

“Have you tried gagging her and whacking some sense into her?” Kimi asked with a slight joke behind it, just slight. Kimi Hyama was always one to do things with force, top of her classes in marshal arts, sword classes, and anything else. It was always the joke of the family that she did actually bind and gag all of her younger sibling's dates, to see if they were worthy enough. Very little passed her tests.

“She'd kick the crap outta' us, and you know it,” he replied.

“Destiny sounds like my kind of girl,” she smiled widely and put an arm around her son. “So, are you going to introduce me to your kick-ass chick you like so much?”

Kira's mouth opened and closed. “Mother! I don't like her like that! She's my best friend, nothing more, nothing less,” he glared at her to show he meant it.

“No, of course not. But might I remind you that is exactly what both your father and I said, well until we got married of course. And I'm your mother…call it my super-mother power. The way you talk about her, you like her,” Kimi poked the blushing teen in the chest. She giggled and headed for the study in the large mansion.

“You do know I have never heard much about father,” Kira followed her into the room.

“Of course, he died before you two weeks old. Hey, there's another angle,” Kimi smacked a closed fist into her other opened palm.

“Angle for what?” Kira looked at her curiously.

“An angle to talk to Destiny about, no one else has gone through losing a mother or father, just you two, so you could relate to her.”

“A bit I guess, but she did lose both her parents on the same day, not only that, she doesn't know if they died, some people believe them to still be alive. And if they are, why haven't they come for her? Because people still think they might be alive, they tormented her, said she was unworthy, they hated her and she would never be loved, that she was cursed, losing parents and a friend who was like a sister, and even as we speak her great-grandfather is in the hospital dying. I can't relate to her in the-.”

Kimi's cell had started to play and she answered it, motioning for Kira to leave with a wave of her hand.

Kira turned and walked from the room to get ready for the concert.

“How are you getting to the Hyama's Destiny?” Mrs. Higurashi asked as she watched her granddaughter running around the house getting ready.

“Kira said that he would be sending a ride to pick me up,” Destiny replied, shoveling her way into the closet on a mission to find her best boots. “Here they are.” she said out loud. Pulling on the knee length black boots, she opened the back door to the top of the shrine steps to wait for her ride. Mrs. H followed suite. After a couple of minutes a black limo pulled up in front of the shrine steps.

“Bonjour and Hello!” a beautiful voice called, as a young woman stepped out of the limo. She was dressed in a light pink strapless dress which from her left mid-thigh sloped down, diamonds traveled in a spiral from the top to the bottom of the gown. Her perfect skin colour glowed in the early July heat. The woman wore her hair down and long, very long, the silky blonde waves of hair reached down to her knees. A simple necklace full of pink gems fit perfectly with the outfit. She turned her perfect head towards Destiny and her grandmother as the walked down the many steps.

“I am Sakura Hyama, owner of Love Goddess, and Kira's aunt,” she said. Sakura looked at Destiny from top to bottom, “And I believe you to be Destiny Higurashi, no doubt.”

“Yeah I'm Destiny, I'm assuming you're here to pick me up?” Destiny asked as she sized up the woman. She had only ever seen Sakura Hyama on T.V., just like the rest on his family.

“Yes I am, but we must do something about your wardrobe, missy. Tsk, tsk, tsk. What were you thinking this morning?”

Destiny studied her clothes to see why Miss. Hyama believed them for rags. `Well you're a total air-headed bitch,' she thought but said to Sakura.

“What's wrong with my clothes?” She had picked out her only clean pair of jeans shorts, and a black `Demon Children' t-shirt. Sure the shirt was way too big, but that was how she liked it. On her feet she had her knee length black boots on with a 2 inch heel; well she really didn't need the heel considering she was taller than all the girls and most of the guys. Destiny had pulled her hair into a long braid, with her signature baseball hat that read `Miss Bitch' on top. Wearing no make-up, Destiny always believe make-up was for hiding your imperfections, basically she didn't give a shit what her face looked like.

Sakura just shook her head again and took Destiny's hand. “Dearie, there is going to be photographer up to your ass, as well as the paparazzi, and news crew. Famous people from around the world, who are all friends of the family will be there. And they will all be looking at you at least once today. Sure there will be more normal people then famous, but still, don't you wish to make a good impression?” She turned to Mrs. H, “We will see you later, Mrs. Higurashi, maybe by then I can make her presentable.”

Destiny looked back at her smiling grandmother as she was pushed into the black limo. Sakura Hyama gracefully sat beside her. Today was going to be interesting.

“HOLY SHIT, DEST? What the fuck happened to you?” Kiro exclaimed as Destiny walked into the practice room were all the boys were waiting. The rest of them all had the same thoughts.

Destiny looked down at her new apparel. Sakura had done a good job in Destiny's opinion, keeping her style but making it neater. She now wore a black tube-top with the bands name in blood red on the front, with claw marks in spots, instead of the male version of the shirts they sold. Designer black jean shorts replaced the old faded ones. Classy black sandals with a pointed toe and skinny heel, shorter then what she normally wore covered her feet. Sakura had even persuaded her to wear red lipstick. Her ebony hair was tied back into a pony-tail, but had countless braids through out. Each braid had a red strip intertwined with it. The only things that she had refused to give up were her famous hat. That she would never go without. It was a birthday present from Kira when she turned 12, and she had never gone a day without wearing it, well, except school. And her fang necklace, she had never taken it off since the first time she put it on.

“What you don't like it?” she asked, and puppy-pouted, with a slight tone of disappointment.

Tora stood up and placed his guitar on the couch, walking over to Destiny he put an arm around her shoulder. “Na, Baby-Girl, we love it. It's just so different, you surprised us.”

She smiled at him then at the others. “Good, because she gave me these things and I wanna make sure I look damn fine in them.”

“You look hot, no, sexy. Wait, that doesn't sound right…that I'm talking about my friend that way, is it?” Kitch laughed at himself.

“Thanks Kitch,” Destiny said while she ruffled his long black hair.

There was a knock on the door and a man and woman walked into the room followed by Kira. The man looked to be in his late twenties, early thirties. Unruly brown hair -very similar to Kira's- with dark brown eyes. He wore tailored dress pants and a white dress shirt. Next to him stood a lady the same age, with long glowing light brown hair and stunning brown eyes as well, she wore a light sapphire dress, similar to Sakura's. Her hair was done up like Destiny's only it had a blue rose on the right side of the pony-tail, with no ribbons.

“Hey guys, I want you to meet my grandparents, Tai and Samantha Hyama,” Kira presented the two. Both of them bowed as the rest of the group did the same.

“I'm very glad that you have agreed to do this. I really didn't want some pompous rich jerk singing,” Samantha said jokingly.

“Excuse me Mrs. Hyama, but I was wondering…if you're from Japan, why do you have a name such as Samantha?” Kiro questioned.

The lady smiled then answered. “I was born in Japan, yes. But my hateful mother shipped me off to Canada were I was adopted and was given this name, and I'm grateful to that family so I kept my name as I returned to my homeland.”

Kiro `Oh'ed' and fell quite again. A man walked into the room to warn the group that they had 10 minutes before they had to go on.

“Well nice to meet you, we'll talk after the show. Bye and good luck,” Tai Hyama said then left the room with his wife. A knock on the door reminded the group they had a couple minutes to get ready.

“Well guys, I have to go. My mom wanted me to help her take of the more important guests. I'll talk to you when you're done,” Kira explained. He wished them good luck and stopped at Destiny. “Here, I have to return this to you,” Kira leaned towards her and kissed her on the cheek. He smiled wickedly then left the room.

“So you wish me to attend this event?” Numair sat in a large wooden chair across from his mother and grandmother, beside him sat an old family friend. Mr. Inunotasho.

“Yes, we have arranged it so you can meet with the young Mr. Inunotasho. Watch out for your charge as well, people will be at the event who might wish harm to her. Mr. Inunotasho has agreed to discus what he will tell his niece. This is an admirable opportunity for you my grandson, do the Royal family name proud,” the Queen of Elements told Numair. She was clad in a white dress suit her light brown hair was placed in a braid with a very large white rose. Her crown shone in the sunlight from the near by window. Each jewel glowed with their own light. Each one of the eight represented the eight elements the Queen ruled over. Earth, Fire, Water, Air, Ice, Shadow, Light, Thunder.

The young prince rose and bowed deeply towards his elders, then to Sesshoumaru. “I shall not let this opportunity lay to waste. You can count on me.”

His mother smiled widely, full of pride for her son. “We know my dear; you have never let us down. Dear Numair, you are always one to count on. Now, go have fun.”

Numair chuckled then glided from the large room. Time to work.

Artemis watched as her one and only son walk through the door. `Why did it have had to be him? What am I going to do when he is gone?' the Goddess felt a warm hand on her lap. She looked away from the closed door to her mother then smiled at the silent support. Sesshoumaru's golden eyes moved from one lady to the other.

Megs (A/N: yes I know this is a wacky name, but I will get to that) saw the demon lord's confusion, deciding he should understand the worry, she spoke to him.

“I am sorry for keeping you in the dark of this knowledge Lord Sesshoumaru. But since this has to do with your family, I believe you should know. Your niece, as you know has never been told of her lineage, but not only that…she is what our people call an elemental.”

“An Elemental?” he asked, leaning his head to the side.

“Yes, elementals are a rare type of people who can control the elements, as well as gain power from them. As long as there is any element near, they are undefeatable.”

“If they are that powerful, why do the gods place them on the earth? Do they not worry that they could take over?”

Artemis let out a snuffle, wiping her finger under her eye to catch a tear. “No, elementals are rare because the gods only place them on the earth if they themselves have made a mistake. But once they correct the balance and set things right they…they…” she broke off at the thought.

“They die…once they complete what they were sent to do. No elemental has ever lived past their accomplishment. The gods do fear they could take there place if there were more then one, so they kill them. My daughter is worried, like your niece her son is an elemental. And like the others, these two will follow the life of an elemental, to fight then die, as simple as that. To lose her mate, then son,” The Queen finished explaining.

“If the lady is a Goddess herself, why can you not see that your son does not parish?” Sesshoumaru questioned again.

“Because I was not born a Goddess but was made one, I do not have the right to.”

“So, once they complete this, they both will die?”

The depressed ladies turned their gaze to the floor, and then nodded.
