He sighed, `I blew it and she kept her word and trained. Now that I know she is in this time period I wonder where she is and how she is doing. If that was her then she got really good… Oh no not Kikyo! Grrrrr why can't she get it that I don't want her that way. I want my Kagome.' With that thought he stood up and ran deeper into the forest to escape the golem known as Kikyo.
As she made her way north west she heard a rumor for a jewel shard while passing through a village earlier in the evening. Now she was somewhere in the Northern part of the western lands. She was planning on stopping when she came close to the river that she could hear and smell.
While she trained with Itoki her senses were greatly improved, they were almost as good as a youkai. She finally came across the river that she had smelled after about five minutes of running. “You can come out now, I have no intrest in fighting either of you.” Kagome said setting Shippo down on a blanket that she pulled out of her bag.
“So you have noticed us, I am not surpised. Do you not know with whom you speak, miko?” Asked the older of the two youkai. She knew he was inu-youkai.
“Should I? I am new to this part of the land and searching for Shikon shards, because I am the guardian of the tama.” She said as she faced the two youkai that were across the river.
“Then I would guess that you do not. I am Vash mi'lady and this is Sora. I am an inu-youkai and she is a halk-youkai. We know of your quest and wish to aid you. Since I am to old to fight, I reasoned that I could give you and your kit a place to stay, and train him so that he may come into his powers. If you would allow us.” Vash offered sincere in his offer.
“I shall give you my answer when I wake, I have been traveling since dusk and wish to rest for a few hours. If you would like you can join us while we relax. However, if you do I would not travel to far from where you are. In order to protect myself and my kit I will be placing a barrier around this area.” Kagome said as she began to set up the small perimeter around the area where she was setting up camp.

“Kaa-san wake up. There are two youkai here. Wake up.” Shippo said as he shook Kagome awake.
“Mmm okay Shippo, I'm up. What did you say?” Replied a still half asleep Kagome.
“There are two youkai here that wish to speak to you, kaa-san. So wake up.” Shippo said.
“Okay Shippo I'm up. Gimme a minute, I uh.. Have to use the not so local shrubbery…” With that said she dropped the barrier around her, Shippo and the two new, posibly permenant additions to the group.
As she conducted her business Shippo filled up the bottle of water that he had. Kagome had only brought one bottle and something called a `Camelbak,' to hold her water while they traveled. She said that it was easier to drink from than it was to open a bottle of water while running.
She returned to the camp shortly after finishing and washed her hands in the river. “Shippo, how would you like to have a nice place to stay when we rest from finding shards? Where you can train in your powers and become stronger?” Kagome asked looking at Shippo curious as to his answer.
“But, you said that you wouldn't leave me.” Was his response to her questions, he was confused as to why she would ask such questions. He didn't care where they stayed so long as he was with her, she was his okaa-san now.
“I won't be leaving you Shippo, I will be there too. Silly kit, you can't get rid of me that easily you are family and family always sticks together, no matter what.” She said smiling at his slightly shocked face.
“I would like to be able to train but Kitsunes are different than inu-youkai especially when it comes to training.” Shippo said, looking towards the two youkai still siting across the stream, “Will I get the proper training that kitsune's get? Or will I be trained like an inu-youkai?”
“Ah, the young master has questions? Good good, questions are always appreciated. You will be trained in the kitsune fashion. I have a friend that owes me a couple of favors, and I think he will be the perfect choice to train you. You will also be taught in math, sciences, writing, reading, medicine, and history. So that you can become a faster thinker and it will help you in your training. I assume by the way that your mother speaks that you know some of what we are to teach you, so we will have to test you to see how far you are in that aspect.” Vash replied with a kind smile on his face. Watching both the miko and kitsune to see how they would reply. “We will take you to my home and discuss this further there, and show you where your chambers will be if you decide to stay. Please follow us, it is not to far from here.”
Packing up there small campsite, Kagome decided to allow Shippo to run as far as he wanted before she picked him up. It would help with his endurance and burn off his over abundance of energy.

Before they left Vash told Sora to go and find called Han so that he would know that Vash summoned him. Vash had thought of Han not just because of the fact that he was a kitsune, but because he was a master of all things kitsune, and he deemed that Kagome would only want the best teacher for her kit. It was how every mother treated their young, to get them the best that life had to offer so that they could make changes in the world.
He knew that not all mothers were like this, and that some were cruel to their children, but he noticed the way Kagome talked to her son, protected him, and showed him her affection. She would want the best for him, of that he was sure. They were at the castle after about ten minutes of running, Shippo kept up and Kagome was proud of him for that. “Shippo, you did well in keeping up! I am proud! After lunch I'll give you pocky, how does that sound?” Kagome said with a smile upon her face that showed her pride.
“YAY! Pocky! Arigato, Kaa-san.” Shippo said his tail wagging in delight at the thought of his favorite treat. Climbing up her body he came to his customary spot on her shoulder. His tail wrapped around her neck to secure his position while he played with a few strands of her hair.
Looking around Kagome noticed many things some that seemed out of place in the Japanese style house. Instead of the rice paper doors that were seen on the more upscale style homes, she saw western style doors. On the doors there was a beautiful carving that looked like a fire demon surrounded by his flames, who was fighting a priestess. “Vash-sama, the carving on the door, who is the priestess?”
“Ah, yes the doors, that is the priestess is Midoriko-sama in one of her greatest battles. Her opponent that she was against that time was Kagu-Tsuchi the god of fire. He was the child that killed Izanami. A demon who thought to rule the god put him back together and pitted him against her. Instead of killing him as she would against demons who attacked innocents she helped him control his fire. However, before she could do that she had to fight him to weaken him to the point for his flames to die down so that she could get close to him.” Vash explained while they walked through the castle.
Paying attention to what he was saying and the where they were walking she noticed more doors engraved with different battles or demons in there more baser forms. Finally they stopped before a door that did not have any engravings decorating upon it. “Kagome-san this is your room. Your kits room besides yours, you will notice that inside your room there is a door, it leads to his room. When you decide what you would like on your door then I shall have it commisioned. Each room that has an engraving upon it belongs to people who over the years have stayed here, either to train or is a higher lord and is passing through. Each engraving has a meaning to them somehow, and I do not ask, if they tell me then I will listen, and pass it on to the next generation who will take my place.”
“Thank you for your hospitality, before I give you my final answer I would like to meet the person who is to be training my son, in both his higher learning, and in combat. Once I meet them, and get a reading on them, will I tell you my answer.” Kagome said, “I hope that you do not mind the wait on my answer. I would like to stay here, however, I need to know that my son will be well taken care of. However, if we do decide to stay here, how am I to repay you?” Kagome inquired, for she was one who never took someone's generosity for granted.
“We will talk of that later, when you have made your mind. Until then relax, enjoy the hotsprings, wander around for a while. However, dinner will be server when the sun sets please be prepared by then, a servant will then escort both of you to the dinning hall.”
