Last time:

"Here." taking Kimiko's necklace and handling it to Sora. Sora took the necklace from Kurama, looked at it and back to the dent on the cover. She placed the necklace on the dent, reciting the writings around the cover. The book flew open. And a small figure of a lady appeared. She was dressed elegantly.

"My QUEEN!" Sora gasped out.

Chapter 24: the reason

"My QUEEN!" how is this possible, aren't you supposed to be…"

"Dead?"

Sora nodded dumbly at her. As the others stared at their interaction with shock and confused facial expressions.

"I am dead. When I created this book, I locked some of my essence inside. The necklace that Kimiko is always wearing holds my last breath."

Walking towards her unconscious daughter, she placed a hand on her forehead, but went through her. She smiled weakly at her.

"I have no form, I can't even touch her." she replied sadly. Turning depressed eyes on the group.

"Well, what is it that you wishes to know?"

Koenma took the honor of relating the questions that have been troubling them for a long time. He himself was curious as to why the deceased queen sealed an essence of herself in the book and the necklace.

"Your doubts will be cleared as soon as all the problems are resolved." Having to read his thoughts, she assured him.

"Now, the spear of white is left to be forgotten because it is the only item that can destroy the seal, that had darkness sealed for centuries. The sealing place of darkness was left to be forgotten, and believed to be only a myth. But it seems that Prince Yume, did not believe that it was a myth. I remember that time when he and Kimiko studied the myth of the dark wars. They were a remarkable pair, through their abilities, they managed to research the resting place of darkness."

She paused to allow them to ask questions and to clear their doubts. Seeing that they have none to ask, she continued.

"Yume wanted very much to see the seal, but Kimiko disagreed to his idea. So he dropped the idea, what a cute couple they make. But anyway, if you want to stop him from unsealing the seal, you need to go to Crest Realm. Since the downfall, I seriously think that the location has changed. You will need the power of a strong sorceress or sorcerer to relocate the location. But I think, only Kimiko or Yume knows how to locate it, since they had recognized its energies."

"Take care of my daughter for me. She had gone through too much." She bowed slightly to the others and faded away.

"My queen!" but there was no answer. The book separated back into two.

"Should we go to Crest Realm?" Yusuke asked.

"The door to the Crest Realm will only open when there is a full moon. Which is, another month."

"Great! We take the month to rest and prepare ourselves for a hard battle." Koenma piped out.

Botan opened portals to take them back to their respective places. Kurama and Hiei stayed beside Kimiko. Sora went with Koenma to do research on the location. The shikon group stayed behind at the Reikai. Inuyasha and Kikyo went back to the federal era, to search for more shards.

Two days passed~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Kurama POV

Kimiko has been unconscious for two days. I held her hand, which has turned so cold. I placed a hand on her stomach and felt the second heartbeat in her. This heartbeat is getting stronger and stronger, while Kimiko's heartbeat is getting softer and softer. I did not like this at all.

`She is getting weaker.'

@The baby is feeding off her energies. @

`I think we should get rid of the baby….'

@ HN, but she will never agree to it. @

`What are we going to do? She can die any moment, the baby might not even be bornt then.'

@ We have to force her to get rid of the baby. @

`You agree you don't want to keep the baby?'

@ HN, what's the point? If she died in order to keep the baby. I don't think I will look at the baby twice. @

`…. So. We have to get rid of the baby?'

@Yes. @

# I agree. As long as she is alive, we can have another baby. #

@The fox is right. @

I held onto her hand tighter as she began to move. She opened her eyes and shut it quickly, to avoid the bright light. After adjusting to the light, she turned to look at us by the side. She smiled a weak smile at us. We helped her to sit up. She leaned wearily on the pillows.

@You tell her. @

`Fine.'

"Kimiko…."

She focused her eyes at me, giving me her full attention.

"Kimiko, you are pregnant."

She looked away from me to her stomach, placing a hand on it. Giving us a small nod.

"You can't keep it."

"Why? Because of the curse?" shooting up to look at Hiei.

"Ya. We can't afford to lose you." I climbed into bed beside her, pulling an arm around her waist as she rested her head on my shoulder.

"And you can afford to lose this child?" she asked with a soft voice, that held sadness. Both Hiei and I nodded our heads. She closed her eyes, her hand still resting on her stomach, she began to glow blue.

"No, I want to keep the child." She replied just as soft, without opening her eyes.

"You cannot. You will die."

"Don't make me disappear from you both forever." She opened her eyes to look at us defiantly.

Both of us went quiet from that threat.

"But Kimiko you will die."

"Then so be it, I will keep this child and you can do nothing about it."

"We will not love this child if you died giving birth to it." Hiei retorted.

"You will, because its our child." She answered back confidently.

"So, it's the child of you and Hiei?"

She shook her head and told us it's the child from both of us. She fell asleep before we could ask what she meant.

"What was that supposed to mean?"

"How would I know?" placing her back to the bed, we laid and rested beside her. Making sure that no harm comes to her when she is asleep.

Two weeks passed~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"My lord, the princess is with a child."

"I see. Tell the others who are interested, they may hunt for her child. But I want the mother to come to no harm."

"Yes my lord." Yume sat on his throne; his energies have already been half recovered. Smiling to himself, by the end of this month, he will be returning to where the seal was, and release the darkness within.

At Reikai~~~~~~~~~

Kimiko's stomach is showing that she is two months into her pregnancy. Both she and the child are well. She assured the others that when she gets back to Crest Realm, she will be able to get a full remedy to the curse. And as long as she doesn't use her energies now, she will be able to live through this ordeal and give birth to a healthy child. She was able to come up with a counter curse. She managed to alter the curse to only take her energies away if she uses her powers.

They were relieved, but wanted to make sure no harm comes to her. They made sure that she has plenty of rest, eat well. And that at least one of them is with her at all times.

Today, they were going back to the ningenkai to show her ningen mother that she is going to be a grandmother soon. Kurama also wanted her to meet his mother. When we got to Kurama's house. We parted to meet later at the Sunset shrine.

Hiei POV

Kurama held her by the hand and brought her to meet his mother. She was wearing loose fitting tops with tight skirts, and high boots. When Kurama's mother saw her, she started exclaiming how beautiful she looked, and that her son finally has someone to be with. She went on about how the girls from his school will try to get to him, but he totally ignores them.

Kurama was blushing, Kimiko was giggling to the new information that his mother was giving her. I smirked in amusement.

"Hiei, is here as well?"

"Ya, he is my husband." Taking my arm into hers.

"You are married?" she asked confusedly. Kurama took her inside and explained things to her.

It took a while for her to completely understand and fully accept our relationship. She was just glad her son is happy, and doesn't care more.

"Well, she took it quite well." we made our way to the Sunset Shrine. It appears that the others were already there. Keiko was also there, she was hitting Yusuke with her bag.

"Hi, Keiko!" Kimiko waved an arm to her. Keiko saw her and rushed towards us, engulfing Kimiko into a hug. She tackled Kimiko too hard, causing pain to shot through her stomach.

"What's wrong? Did I hurt you?" she fussed over Kimiko, who was rubbing her stomach to lessen the pain. Yusuke took her away as both Kurama and I growled at her. We were getting more and more protective of her, even though she assured us that she will be fine, we know that we cannot risk for her to get hurt in this condition.

We were about to take her into the shrine to rest when a group of people appeared.

"Give us the Princess." Creating a weapon out of thin air into his hand. The other three stood behind him, chanting something.

I passed Kimiko to Kurama and confronted them.

"Hn, why should we."

"We want the child. Get out of our way, youkai."

The gang took their stance behind me.

"Don't even think of using your powers." I directed this to Kimiko, who looked like she was going to use one of her powers. I could feel her glaring at me from behind.

`Fine. Just be careful.' She said in my head.

"Hn." I unsheathed my katana and using my speed to slice up that insolent guy before me. I sliced him into halves, and made my way to the three behind. Before I could bring my katana down, something struck through me.

I stopped to find blood spilled out of a hole in my shoulder.

"Hiei!" Yusuke shouted and aimed his spirit gun at one of the three guys. Successfully taking a shot through him.

Then, shortly after, Yusuke was flying to the trees. He coughed out blood. I did not see anything attack him, how did he get thrown off.

I was about to hit the other guys when something connected to my jaws, sending me flying back to where Kimiko was standing. I looked to see her pushing Kurama away from her. She raised her hands up to block something. Raising her palm she released a ball of power. Bright light appeared.

When we could see again, we saw the body of the man that I first sliced a few meters away from Kimiko. She was breathing heavily. Catching her, before she hit the ground.

"They are using the air as bodies, make them visible." Trying her best to calm her breathing down.

"Hn, then what are we waiting for?" handling Kimiko to Keiko.

Yusuke POV

"Ready? 1…2…Go!" I shot my spirit gun on the ground, creating dust to form all around us. Watching closely for the fine outline of a figure, we attacked him. Finishing him in few seconds. Closing on to the next one. We destroyed them all in matters of minutes. I must admit, if Kimiko did not point this weakness out to us, we would have been seriously hurt.

I suggested taking her to Genkai. They all agreed. Using his speed, Hiei carried Kimiko to the temple first, with Kurama closely behind him. I explained things to Aunt Aikko and left to the temple. Keiko came along with us.

At Genkai's temple~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Her spirit energy is very high, but it is decreasing rapidly as we speak, why?"

Kurama told her everything that had happened as I sat beside the sleeping Kimiko. Hoping that both mother and child are well.

Our child. The child of both Kurama and mine. Kimiko explained to us the reason why she wanted to keep the child so much. This child is very special. It is created by the three of us. It will grow up to be a very powerful being, inheriting powers from all of us. A unique child that is rarely created and bornt to this world. A child that will be bornt in just nine weeks time, instead of the normal nine months. A child that will have the genes from Kurama, Kimiko and me.

That night~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It was about night when Kimiko woke up, she stretched and yawned lazily, complaining that she is hungry. Kurama went to make her something to eat. I had my arms around her as she leaned on me.

`You should tell Yukina, that you are her brother.'

@Hn.@

`Tell her.'

@No.@

`Tell her now!' sitting up and staring at me. The rest looked at our interaction with confusion.

`Kimiko is right, you should tell her.' Kurama added his two cents into this conversation.

`Tell her, or else!'

@Or else what? @

"THIS!" pushing me away, and stomping over to where Kurama was, and settled down on his lap, glaring at me. Together with the others, we blinked in confusion. Kurama only chuckled and brought the food forward for her to eat.

"Hn. Fine!" standing up to go find Yukina.

"What's wrong with shrimp?"

"Telling Yukina that he found his brother."

"Who is he?"

"Hiei." Kuwabara fainted after hearing that.
