Chapter 9
Inuyasha and Sesshomaru glared at each other hotly. The other members of the group looked on hopelessly as the brothers reached for their weapons. Sesshomaru drew his lips back into a fang baring sneer.
“A-3,” he whispered. Inuyasha's face registered absolute shock.
“You bastard!” he yelled. “You sunk my battleship!”
“I believe that's three games in a row, little brother.”
“You cheated! I'm not playing anymore!” Kagome sweat dropped and placed a hand on Inuyasha's shoulder.
“Calm down, Inuyasha,” she said, rolling her eyes. “It's just a game. Strategy is just not your thing. Maybe you should try a card game?”
“Well, I …” Just then Kikyou's soul stealers floated into the clearing, followed by the clay pot bitch herself.
“Kikyou,” Inuyasha whispered, all traces of earlier anger dissipated. Rosa looked from Kikyou to Inuyasha to Kagome then back.
“Who's that?” Estella asked.
“Kikyou,” Kagome said. Her head was forward so her bangs fell into her eyes. Inuyasha cast an apologetic glance at Kagome before heading towards Kikyou.
“Hold up!” Rosa said. “You're really gonna let your man roll up on some trick tryna look like you? Nuh uhh, honey. You betta tell him what's up before that ho gets to him.”
“You don't understand. We're just friends. Besides, he was with her first.”
“Bull!” Estella said. “I see the way you two look at each other, you know he's got a thing for you. What's she got that you ain't got more of?”
“His heart.” Kagome sat down defeatedly and stared at the disappearing backs of Inuyasha and Kikyou.
“Ladies, maybe I'd better explain,” Miroku said. His face was unusually grim, a fact that didn't escape Rosa and Estella.
“Uh-oh, drama,” Rosa whispered as Miroku led them a little away from the clearing (they were still within sight, but not sound. I don't trust Miroku alone with my characters yet, although, Sesshomaru would probably kill him if he did anything to Rosa).
“Where do I start?” Miroku muttered as they settled onto the grass. “Well, it's like this. Kagome is supposedly Kikyou's reincarnation, although two women who are less alike, I've yet to see. Well when Kikyou was alive…
“Wait, `was alive'? She's dead? You mean Kagome just let her man go with a zombie?” Estella asked. “Man, we have got to work on her confidence.”
“ Yes, well, as I was saying, a witch brought her back to life using her ashes, dirt and Kagome's soul.”
“That's sick!”
“That's not the half of it. When Kikyou was brought back, she only got part of Kagome's soul, and the part that she got back was the part full of hate.”
“Ok, so she hates everything, what's she want with Inuyasha then?” Rosa asked.
“I was getting to that. Kikyou managed to convince Inuyasha that he owes her his life. She's trying to get Inuyasha to go to Hell with her.”
“And Kagome's just letting him go?” Estella shouted, jumping up. “Oh, Hell NO! Kagome!” Kagome, Sango, Shippou, Rin, and Jaken all looked up in startled surprise. Sesshomaru just casually glanced out the corner of his eye. Estella and Rosa stomped up to Kagome and each grabbed an arm.
“Let's go,” Rosa said.
“Where are we going?” Kagome asked looking back at Miroku. He must have something to do with this. But he looked just as confused as Kagome.
“We're gonna get your man,” Estella said, glaring toward the place Inuyasha and Kikyou had disappeared. Kagome looked at Sango and Sesshomaru for help. Sango just shrugged.
“I've been wanting you to do something like this for a year,” She said smiling at Kagome.
“If my brother must consort himself with a mortal, I say better you than her,” Sesshomaru said. Rosa smiled and winked at him.
“You heard him,” she said, tightening her hold on Kagome's arm. “And if that heifer tries anything, we'll jump her. In fact, you know what? Sango, you come, too.”
“W-what?” Sango asked, incredulously. “Me?”
“Where we're from, not coming to have your girl's back means you ain't really friends,” Estella pointed out. Sango thought for a second (well actually, a millisecond).
“Alright,” she said, grabbing Hiraikoutsu. “Let's go to work.”
“But…” Kagome tried to protest.
“But…” Kagome tried to protest.
“No buts!” Sango said. “You stand up for your self in everything but this, so now we're going to help you.”
“It's about to be a what? A girl fight?” Rosa said.
