&n bsp;            The sounds of morning came quickly flying over head the next day. The sun shone through the small spaces that the leaves of trees had failed to cover. It was such a glorious morning. The kind that even the most bitter person could not help but smile to, even if just on the inside. Time had seemed to have frozen still for this day, as a hanyou and a miko lay asleep, resting together, but in two different lands. Yet the dream, was the same. They dreamed of each others love and unfull filled requests of the heart. In this place, there every will was granted.

It was as if a spell had been cast over them, leaving them in this tranquil state. Nothing could harm them. They couldnt even tell she had walked by, nor could the monk sense any danger. The half breeds senses no longer lit up to her scent, or was on constint alert for it. She was no longer the number one thing that roamed his weary mind. And in that way, she was jealous. Kagome now had taken up her vacency.

'But it was always like that.' Her mind said. 'She was ALWAYS there.'

         'But now, your not.'
Her mind contridicted. 'She took YOUR place. He belongs to you.'

         'Thats right he does.'
She smiled. A rare thing to come from her. 'He promised.'

A women dressed in a loose fitting shirt of white, and elephant sized pants of red walked by, stopping for only a breif moment to look upon the man of her affections features. He had his back rested against the trunk of a thick tree. It was obvious that he had not slept in such a way in a long while. Every so often he would adjust his back to make it more comfortable, the girl that rested against him for support following his evey movement. His long, slender arms were hugged around the girls waist, landing on her stomach. One was entwined with hers. The girls left hand covered the hanyous. Her body was some what slanted, fully relaxed into his. And all the women could think was 'it should be me. It should be me'.

The look on the silver haired mans face was one of pure bliss. And he adorned it wonderfully. Could anything have been more romantic to the naked eye? Could any thing more beatiful to the knowing one? But to Kikyos, could anything have stabbed harder at her already saltly wounds? She looked at him, all the while, her eyes seething with rage.

If kikyo was to be colored, she would look like a Monet painting. She would have dominant green with envy, as well as red for the rage. Blues for her sadness, and pale greys for the parts that she was unable to feel. For only being a shell of her former self, she was full of conflicting emotions. All which concerned her.

And then, as if breaking the spell, the hanyous ears twicthed. Kikyo felt a jump of fear arise in her, but it was only to be covered by the coytoe smile she wore. It was one that seeped many different things. It gave off the apperance that she knew all, yet at the same time, refused to tell. In so many ways, her looks befitted her.

         "InuYasha." She said cooly.

         "Ki...Kikyo...."

"InuYasha. Dont tell me you have become involved with this mortal girl."

"Kikyo... What are you doing here?"

"What am I doing here? How about what are you doing there?"

Ten different shades of pink came sprouting to his face.

         "Kikyo-"

"We died for each other InuYasha. That bond we have can not be broken."

"I dont want it to be, I-"

"InuYasha, I love you. We should be together. We can hunt for the jewel ourselfs."

         "I cant leave Kagome."

"InuYasha-" She said, her eyes showing something of guilt, and sadness.

"When did it happen?" Her voice low. "When did you stop loving me?"

The girl in his lap moved her body to the side, her head snuggling against his chest. Kikyo looked at her, angred. Then up to him.

"When did you fall in love with her?"

"Kikyo I-" He was taken aback when she bent down, and unlocked Kagome and his hands. He had been unaware that they were still holding each other. For a second, he mourned it. Then, realizing who pulled them apart, he got back to reality. Kikyo held up his hand, and inlocked it with hers. She stuided it for a moment before she spoke.

"InuYasha, I will never lose you. You belong to me."

She looked at him, her eyes searching his.

All he could do was turn away in shame.

Kikyo stood up, and walked off into the forest, getting lost in the manifold of trees.

InuYasha looked down at Kagome. She was on her side, laying peacefully. One hand was pressed against his chest, while the other was draped sluglishly over his waist. With a frown on his face, he picked up the loose hand in his own, and interlocked it. With his right, he held her upper arm and began to make an almost rockng motion. The hanyou leaned his cheek against her head, holding her like she was the only connection to the world that he had, and it was done so with care, as if she was fragil and ready to break. But he couldnt resist in holding her. He needed to hold her.

As he pressed a kiss to her head, he closed his eyes and thought: 'I have to make a choice....

         Im sorry Kagome...'

InuYasha knew what he had to do. It was not in his control. He had no choice. The hanyou shook the women softly, and she jolted in surprize.

         "InuYasha? What is it?"

He stood up, and as if on que, she did the same.

"Is something wrong? Are you okay?"

The man wanted to cry. She was so beatiful. So loving, and so concerned. All he wanted to do was hold her, even if for just a moment longer. Her eyes glazed with worry, and he could hear her heart begin to beat faster with fear. He could hear his own pound with lust.

Slowly, he put his hand to her cheek, and stroked it, finally drawing her mouth to his. He closed his eyes in a mix of pain and bliss. She closed hers in happiness and confusion. The same beat that his heart had played not long before, was now drumming on strongly in hers.

He tilted his head in order to deepen the kiss. At first it had begun as chaste, but it was in no time at all, the product of passion awaiting to be full filled. Yet he would never get the chance.

He drew away from her, both breathing heavily. He ran his thumb down her lower lip, then kissed her quickly, yet softly one last time. Looking into her eyes, he uttered out lowly, with more sadness than he had ever had said aloud:

         "Good bye."

And he ran off. He couldnt wait any longer. He had made his promise, and now it was time to keep his word. He would have to go to hell with Kikyo. When all he wanted to do was live, he had a reason to now, a real reason. Yet all he was permitted to do was die.

But he would die with regret. He hadnt planned on kissing her, it had just happned. He wanted to, it was no use denying it. Maybe in his mind, he thought doing so would cure some of the pain he was feeling.

It did no such thing. She was like a drug. He had just kissed her once, for a short moment only, and yet he yearned for more. He was craving her taste that was so unique and addictive. Every thing told him to turn back. Go to her.

But every thing in his brain told him the same. There was just this small part of him that said 'you owe it. You promised it'.

He would never again feel the taste of her, hear her heart race, or fall asleep to the lullibye of her breathing. Never would he feel her hands grab hold of his own, or her riding on his back. He would never touch her soft skin, or hear her happy laugh. Never to see her brilliant smile, or those chocolate eyes. At the moment, he hated Kikyo more than anything.

He ran swiftly, and caught up with Kikyo in an instint. She looked arounf at him, surprized.

         "Inuyasha..."

         "I am ready to go."

         "Go?"

"I am ready to go to hell with you."

         Kikyo smiled and nodded.

         "Hmm."

         "When will we...?"

"I have a urget matter to take care of, and like you, I had given my word. I dont intend to break it. I am sure that Kaeda would like to say good bye."

He hadnt even thought about Kaeda. He would leave her as well.

'And Miroku, Sango and Shippo too. I have to leave every one! It just doesnt seem fair that I have to give up so many for one person.'

But he knew that if it was Kagome he was giving it up for, he would in an instint. Of course he would miss them, but he would give any thing if she asked it. Just thinking about Kagome made his heart rate increase, yet it was brought down with sadness instintly.

"When will you be back?" He asked dryly.

         "By tomrrow."

&n bsp;       With out warning she threw her arms around him.

"I love you InuYasha." She whispered.

The hanyou had one more regret-

' I didnt get to tell Kagome that I love her.'

&n bsp;           Kikyo walked the halls of a castle. It was ridged, and cold. Damp in color, all of solid primary. As she made her way to the room that Narkau was currently in, she could help but have a spring to her step. It all had gone so unexpectedly wonderful, and so according to plan. But of course, she had devised it, so was there any reason why it should not? No. This was a master peice of manipulation and deception. Yet it would get her what she wanted. And it had.

She pushed open the sliding door that held Narkau from her. He looked up at her, awaiting her news.

         "Well?"

         "It worked."

         "Tell me about it."

And she did. Narakus eyes lit with fire and mystery when she retold the tragic story.

"So you will meet him tomrrow in you sisters villiage?"

"Yes. Then this whole matter will be settled."

"You will take care of her tonight then?"

         "Yes. As planned."

         "Good."

&nbs p;  Later that night InuYasha still had yet to return, and Kagome was even more confused than when he had kissed her.

She was sitting up in her sleeping bag, thinking.

'Good bye? Where would he go to? He wouldnt have kissed me if he wasnt comming back... Wait... he isnt.... He didnt...'

         "Sango!"

         "What is it Kagome?"

         "May I borrow Kirara?"

"Of ourse, but what ever for?"

"Thanks, I dont have time to explain."

The fire cat demon made its way to the older mikos village.
