;        The forest seemed to be laughing at InuYasha as he ran swiftly through it. The howeling breeze that pushed against his tender ears seemed more like a hurricane to him. His feet were sore with blisters from running at such a pace, but none of this mattered. He had one goal upon his tired mind that kept repeating over and over again like a broken record would do.

All he kept thinking was 'Kagome... Where have you gone? How could this have happened? Shippo calimed that I took you away Kagome...'

&nb sp;        InuYasha came to a sudden hault when he reached the temporary camp that they had made the night before. He saw Sango sitting by Miroku, her legs bent upward, her hands clasped over them, as if to lock them in place. Miroku studied her face as they talked idly. She gave off a soft laugh. To InuYasha, it seemed so sin full for them to be in such a good mood. Kagome was missing! How could they laugh?

But then he remembered. They had no idea that she was gone. The last they knew, she and Shippo went after him. It was all his fault! Why couldnt she have just stayed here, and left him be? She would be safe, and he... he... He would be in the pits of hell.

He had left Kikyo with out an explination. She would probally find out from Kaeda of his where abouts, but the fact remains that he had left for Kagome. But she is in danger, and to compair this one time where he needed to leave for kagome, to the thousands where it was pointless to leave for Kikyo... It just seemed uncompairable.

When he began to think back, he did not feel so guilty. There was hunderads of occasions where he could have stayed surronded by his friends, either sitting at a camp fire, or laying close to Kagome.

At that point the memories fled back. InuYasha closed his eyes to them, trying not to get lost in its bitter sweetness. But it was pointless. He could almost smell the fragince of her hair, feel the softness of her pale skin, and hear the genatlness in her voice. He could sense the thickness in the air arise as he, for a minute, could almost hear the unspoken words that they had always meant to say, but never found the courage to.

Every one thought him as to be strong. But he wasnt, not where it counted most. In physical matters he could kill off any preditor, make any threat a victum, and protect those he treasured. But when it came to matters of the heart, he was weak. He was never able to admit his feelings, and to think, a demon was not able to over power him, yet simple words were. It seemed surreal.
At night, he would dream of times where he was strong in flesh, and at heart. In those times, he had told Kagome the truth. He had told Kagome he loved her.

InuYasha swallowed hard as he tryed to push the memories aside. He forced himself away from the comfort zone in which he had created and walked on to Sango and Miroku. They seemed startled and surprized at his enterance.

"InuYasha what are you doing here?"

"InuYasha! What a surprize. Where is Kagome?"

&nb sp;  "Kagome... Kagome is in trouble."

         "What?" Sango snapped.

"Shippo claims that I took her away, but I havent even seen her."

         "Who could have...."

"How could some one look like me?"

"Naraku..." Miroku said after a moment.

         "What?"

"He has taken on your shape before InuYasha. He could have done it now."

A look of shock came upon the hanyous face.

'Naraku... If you hurt her, I swear that I will make your death so brutal that you will be feeling it life times over.'

"How are we to even get Kagome back when we dont know where Naraku himself is?"

"Naraku most likly intends to use Kagome as bate for a trap. We will be sure to come across her."

"I cant pick up her scent any where." InuYasha said.

"Where was Shippo when you found him?"

"Actually, he found me. I was at Kaedas, when he walked in."

"Then we best head down to Kaedas." Miroku stated.

         InuYasha nodded in reply.

"Sango, hop on my back, Miroku, you will have to run."

"Right." He said with a nod.

And with all the force in him, InuYasha ran, all the while thinking the same thing- Kagome... Kagome... Kagome...

&nb sp; When Kagome awoke, she was in a world of grey. There was a stench that seemed to ripen the air that surronded her, and the rest of the area. Where was she?

She was laid down on top of a bed, its covers cold and uninviting. She was frightend. More so then she had ever been in her life. She had no idea to where she was, or what was going to happen next. She found herself softly whimpering as she recalled the events that lead her to be in this place.

There he was, sitting under the shade of a tree, not too far from the villiage. His hair was blowing freely as the wind caressed his face. He looked up at her with sad eyes. They seemed not to have a trace of surprize, nor confusion. As if he expected all along that she would follow. Kirara set down, and slowly, the hanyou stood.

         "Kagome..."

          "InuYasha... What..."

"What are you doing here?" His voice was so silently still.

         "I came to get you."

         The hanyou's eyes met hers.

          "Come with me."

         "Where?

"Shippo, go to Kaedas." InuYasha said.

         "Wh... Kagome?"

"Go ahead Shippo, we will come and get you later." She said with a positive smile.

"Okay. Promise you wont leave me?"

         She gave a short giggle.

         "Promise. Now, go ahead."

         "Okay, bye Kagome, bye InuYasha."

They both watched as the kitsune ran off to the old mikos hut. All the while, Kagome held the smile.

         "Kagome?"

&n bsp;       She turned to look at him, and in doing so, she was drawn out from her former state.

"InuYasha... What..." He stood up and turned to meet her eye to eye.

The hanyou extended his hand out to her.

"Come with me." Was all he said, in a whisper almost.

Kagome accepted his hand, cautiously. It felt cold to the touch, and for some reason it didnt seem the same as it did on the nights where he had held her so tenderly, nor the times where he had shown her rare moments of affection. No... it awkward, and... wrong. She couldnt quite place her finger on it... but something was off.

They walked hand in hand, in utter silence, until Kagome was unable to bare it any longer.

"InuYasha... why... why did you kiss me?"

The hanyou seemed taken aback, and enraged. He stumbled for words.

         "I... Wanted too..."

         "InuYasha?"

He suddenly looked at her, his amber met her chocolate pools.

"Why wouldnt I want to Kagome? Your beautiful, loving, smart, powerful... I love you Kagome."

But some how, it just didnt seem as she thought it would. Some how the words seemed to hang there with no meaning. She had waited countless years, months, days, to hear those words. But... some how she wished they were never said.

"I... Love you too InuYasha..." But at the moment, she only half ment it. Some thing was terribly amiss.

He smiled a forced smile. As he did so, he leaned in, and caught her lips. She seemed taken aback.

Why had she not melted into the kiss as she had before? The whole texture of it seemed different. Every thing seemed different.

         She broke away from him.

"Should we go back to camp yet?"

He frowned for a slipt second, then smiled.

         "Yeah."

Kagome began to walk on uncomfortably. She felt like a victum in one of those old movies where her stalker was just inches behind. She had the sudden urge to look back over her shoulder and see if he was there.

         "Kagome?"

"Hmm?" She said, taken a back.

"Come on my back, it will be much quicker."

         "Umm... MmHmm."

Hesitently, she climbed upon his back and they rode. She stayed awake as they past unfamilar scenes. But as time wore on, she fell asleep into the lull of the forset.

         And then... She awoke here.

Kagome huddled herself together, and began to cry loudly, calling out InuYasha's name.

Slowly, she heard the sound of the sliding door open, then close. Kagome looked up.

She met into the eyes of Kagura
