Kagom e walked with no direction. She admitted long ago that she was lost, and now she just looked for the nearest village. She needed names, news, contact! Demon if not human.

If some one could assist her as in to where she was, she could calculate how far apart she and InuYasha were. The miles that separated them were only a physical thing. She would walk a million of them if she could just see him once more.

And then the thought dawned upon her, that they may never meet up. they could be traveling in totally different directions! She may never see him again. She may never...

The possibility to that sentence were endless, and all of the had the potential to break her heart. Should she just go back to her own time?

She could finish out school as a normal woman. But her thoughts would far too easily roam to this era.

She spend more time with her family. But she would miss the one she has aquired here just the same.

She could lead a normal life. But she didn't want one. She wanted to stay!

She could have a boy friend, get married, start a family... Her heart wouldn't be in it. She belonged to InuYasha, heart, mind, body, and soul. All of her was in his clawed hands.

The only family she wished to start consisted of her playing the role of the mother, and InuYasha as the father. She would rather live a life where she had nothing, than one where she had every thing but him.

As the young miko let her thoughts wonder into the possiblitys that may never occur. She continued to walk as the day began to set into beginning of the night.

In the distance, hidden behind the shelter of trees, barely visible, Kagome saw a village. Her heart jumped in her chest with the excitement that it caused. She was one step closer to the hanyou.

Suddenly she burst into a run, trying her hardest to make it to the village, as if she was afraid it would disappear on her.

When she reached entrance to the village, she noticed its interior. It was not terribly old, yet not modern. She could tell that they would have what she needed, but she was unsure of how to exactly ask for it.

The miko suddenly felt afraid. She had never before had to be alone in a strange place. Especially that of a villaige. InuYasha was constantly there to protect her, to watch over her. When the head master and the villagers saw that she was his, not to be touched, they followed that instinct.

But now, she had no one to look out for her. She was easy pray for both demons and humans alike.

Kagome began to think about how much they had in common. Both had needs, sexual and other wise. What honestly separated them other than looks?

Kagome walked into the village, its occupants laxed as the days work was slowly coming down to an end. The workers in the field were first to notice her. Their heads turned up to stare at the oddly dressed woman walking as if she belonged. The men were in a state of shock and happiness, while the woman were in a trans of jealousy.

The raven haired woman was unsure of what to do. All eyes that she passed seem to fall upon her, and she could feel the heat of them on her body. she immediacy began to feel uncomfortable, and wished more than anything to turn back.

But she continued on. She had to. The one name that replayed itself over and over again was her reminded to keep walking straight.

She then stopped mid way through walking to ask for help. She turned to a young man standing near the field. He appeared to be over seeing the others, watching as they worked. He was of about twenty or so, and by all means he was handsome.

Taro was the heart throb of all the woman, married and unwed. The eldest son of the head master, he was everything that one could dream of. He held the face of a man, a strong chin and a kind smile. He had a boyish charm, yet a manly strength to him that left him looking beautiful.

His hair was chestnut brown, and unlike any of the other common people that he lived with. But what made him special, was his grey eyes.

No one had ever seen such a color for eyes. They were mysterious and yet, some how, if you gazed into them, you swear you had been there before.

Taro had a flirtatious side. He would flatter even the most unattractive woman just to see her cheeks turn red.

The young head master had turned, quite annoyed that he had to be interrupted. He was in the middle of talking to a woman twice his age, yet her laughter lines made her all the more attractive. He turned his head and caught eyes with the miko. Taro lost his breath.

He had never seen a more beautiful woman in all his years. Her flawless face was pale, and her deep chocolate eyes met his own. He tried to hold them in his possession for as long as he possibly could.

Kagome began to feel uncomfortable. She wanted to speak, but she was unsure why she felt the sudden urge to turn back. She tried to push the voice inside of her deeper down.

Kagome played her part in the staring competition. She studied his for a brief moment. They in truth were beautiful, deep and compassionate. Yet, they were not what she wanted. The only thing Kagome craved was amber.

The miko broke the awkward silence by talking first.

"Excuses me, but, where am I?"

"You mean you do not know?"

"I'm sorry. No. Can you help me?"

Taro lead Kagome into his hut. It was large, one befitting the soon to be head master. He gestured for her to sit down, and a woman came instantly and offered her tea. Kagome nodded her head and took the cup thankfully.

"Where do you come from?" He pryed.

"I- I come from... I travel." She decided at last.

"Travel? Where to? Why?"

"Yes, my friends and I are on the hunt for the Shikon No Tama."

"Who are your companions?"

"InuYasha, Miroku and Sango. Oh, and Shippo and Kirara."

"Demons hold most of the fragments of the jewel. How is it you acquire them?"

"Well, InuYasha is a half demon. Miroku is a monk, I have the powers of a prestist, and Sango is a demon slayer. We manage."

"Are they near you now?"

"No, I have been... Separated from them. I need to know where I am so I can try and find them once more."

"So that is why you require my help."

"If you would be so kind, i just need to know what villages lie near this one."

"You do not intend to stay?"

"I need to find my friends."

"You do not intend to find them in the dark do you?"

"No..."

"Do you have a place to stay the night?"

"I am afraid not."

"Then I insist that you take board here."

"Thank you, that is much to kind but I do not want to impose."

"Non sense. You will stay here as my guest." He gave her a brilliant smile.

"Thank you."

"I must attend to some thing. Please make your self at home."

Kagome nodded politely.

With that Taro left the room.

Kagome did not know why at the moment, but she felt a certain unease about the young head master, and a instant fear was placed in the back of her mind.

The miko had never noticed how lonely life was with out her friends. Usually if they stayed in a village, the same routine would take place.

Miroku would be after the woman that surround their residence and Sango would be out putting a stop to that. More than likely a yelling match to take place, the yelling all directly coming from Sangos part.

Shippo and Kirara would wander around, looking at the people, taking in the scenery. Becoming educated in the skills that they could pick up from just watching the many different trades that each village had to offer.

And she and InuYasha... They tended to stay together mostly. In the early hours they would lie down a blanket and take residence on it until the later hours of the day.

All the while they talked. Usually none of which revolved around Naraku or his evil. Nor Kikyo or the Shikon No Tama. When they were alone like that, it was their care free period. It was as if the rest of their problems flew away, and all that remained was the memories they shared.

Kagomes favorite memory of such times had actually taken place in the hut of a large village.

She had been tired, and afraid. A few nights before a dream had terrorized her, leaving her sleepless for several days. She had finally broken down, and lets the dream land start its process in claiming her.

It had not taken long for the traces of blood to show, or the nail marks to burn into her flesh. InuYasha gathered her up from her dream land, and held her close to him as her body went through the intervals of both waking up and recognizing pain.

She let out a series of battered cry, and she finally became aware of her self.

"Inu... Yasha..."

"Shh. Its okay Kagome..."

Her breathing was still labored.

"Inu... Yasha..."

He picked her up, holding her like a bridal style. He pressed his hand to her hair and began to smooth it back. He moved his way down to her pale cheeks and began to stoke them lovingly. He held the constant song of his "shh...".

"Its okay Kagome. Don't worry. Your safe, what ever it is, it cant get you now."

"Why? Why is it after me InuYasha?"

"I... I don't know Kagome. But I wont let it get you. I swear I will always be here, I promise you."

The miko couldn't help but smile, a tired smile.

"Thank you InuYasha. You have no idea what that means to me."

InuYasha could feel a blush burning away at his cheeks and he nodded.

Kagome fell asleep in his arms. One with out a nightly visitor.

As Kagome came out of her memory, she could feel the hot tears begin to pour from her eyes.

"InuYasha..." she said as she wiped them away.

"Please find me. Please InuYasha.... I need you..."

InuYasha ran, even as he realized the day grow to night. He had no intention of stopping for that matter either. He just continued on with out end.

He needed to find Kagome. He refused to give her up. Especially to Naraku.

The thought of that monster loving her made his stomach turn.

But what about Kikyo? Would he go through the trouble of finding Kagome, only to say good bye? Could he tell her so?

His last attempt had ended in a kiss, a dangerous thing to do. How would she react to him now?

He had wanted to stay so badly, yet he fled like a coward off to a woman who wanted him to die rather than live.

As InuYasha ran, he realized he had to decided. The past, or the present?
