Chapter 2: Reality in things




Kagome opened her eyes and found herself looking at a harsh looking face of a demon. He had long white hair and fiery golden eyes that seemed to glow in the dark. On the top of his head he had two fury ears. She would have laughed and cooed at the ears if it weren't for the claws and fangs he had. Or the fact that he looked extremely angry with her.

Her pain in her ankle was forgotten when she saw that look on his face. It was the look of distain. The look she always got in her prep school, the look she would get from the snobby friends of Hojo. She was tired of that look. She lowered her head in slight defeat unsure what to do.

"Are you going to answer the question?" He asked talking slowly as if she were a child.

"I was skiing got lost and I fell." She quietly said.

"Do you know what time it is?" He roared shaking his head. "What is with your bratty newbies, why don't you stick to the beginners...."

"I know how to ski.. I am not a beginner.... I just got stuck in the Avalanche and got lost." She replied firmly making sure her voice wasn't shaky.

“What avalanche and where was it?”

“I don’t know I was at my ex’s private retreat. Near the ski resort…. I don’t know the name of it though.”

“The hell what sort of idiot doesn’t know where they are staying?”

“I told you I don’t know. I’m sorry I lost my sense of direction, I got confused.”

He seemed to calm down at her honest statement. She looked frightened and so little. She couldn't be more the 18 years of age. Someone has to be worried about her. Pampered kids always seem to think they are invincible.

"Well it looks like you hurt yourself in the process, let me take a look at it." He said as he began to inspect her injured leg. She then realized how dependent she would be on him, and it scared her. It's not everyday she finds herself in the middle of nowhere with a man that she doesn’t' know. He could do anything to her and know one would even know or care. That thought made her blush.

He was tall with long strong legs. He had the body of a god from what she could tell. Broad strong shoulders a sensual mouth. He also had a dominant face to match. Hojo could never look like him. Even in tattered jeans and a half buttoned red shirt made this man more superior to Hojo's three-piece suite.

The man's eyes narrowed and as if reading her mind he said " I'm not going to do anything to you, so don't worry. I also can smell your emotions, so just keep them in check ok kitten?"

Kagome blushed even more realizing what he meant. 'He could tell I was checking him out.'

"I am not a ki... Ouch that really hurt." She complained looking at the foot that he was rotating.

"It's not broken, but it looks pretty bad. I'll wrap it for you after you bath all right? I'll be back I think I have some painkiller's because I am sure you are now in pain by now.

When he came back he was carrying a medical box and a pill bottle. "How long were you traveling on it?" He asked

"About a half hour." She replied

"How long were you lost?" He asked her now sounding concerned.

"The sun was still up. What time is it now?" She replied trying to ignore her pain.

"It's now 8:30 p.m. just relax ok?"

"So uh ...well are you a doctor?"

"No"

"Oh, who are you and what are you?" She asked

"Look Kitten since it's my house, I'll ask the questions. First things first, your clothes are soaked and I started a bath for you. In the bathroom are some clothes for you to wear. Do you want me to help you in there?" He asked after handing her some water and painkillers.

"No, but I'd like at least a name to go with the face. You did help me, and you are continuously doing so. What's your name? Mine is Kagome."

"Inuyasha, and for the record, I am a half dog demon. Now go. The water is ready. I'll wrap them afterwards" He said looking away from her.

Kagome shook her head and he motioned her to go. She slowly took her wool hat off. Her dark raven hair tumbled down her back and stopped at her waist. She felt really fatigued so she started to struggle with getting up.

"Don't be to proud to ask for help. Here." He said as he carried her upstairs as though she weighed like nothing. His hands that were supporting her were large and strong, unlike the men that she hung around. It felt good to be carried by him. Too good, if she didn't pay attention and focus, she would let him bath her. That thought caused other naughty thoughts run through her head.

"Focus kitten." He reminded her as he placed her on down and left closed the door.

"When you are done, I'll wrap your ankle then we will talk." He said behind the door.

While the woman was bathing, Inuyasha sat in his chair sipping on some brandy. He didn't know what to make of the girl, but he knew he might find himself in trouble. He knew that he couldn't just let her out in the cold, but he didn't want her to be there. This was his sanctuary, his favorite place to be alone. This is the place he would go to clear his head.

He sighed and waited for the girl to come out of the bathroom.

Kagome stepped out of the room and hobbled into the wrong room. She found herself in a bedroom. 'Good, so tired' She thought looking at the bed longingly. She clutched her towel that she was wrapped in and hobbled to the bed. Once under the covers she quickly found sleep.
