Chapter 3: Losing All Control

Inuyasha looked up from his imprisonment on the ground, his eyes went blank and started to glow a menacingly white color that seemed to pierce right through your soul when you looked into them.

“Inuyasha?...” Kagome had quiet concern in her voice; she had stopped her struggling and looked, not sure what was happening to him.

The wind picked up around him and his irises appeared, but turned a striking green color, his whole eye was engulfed in a blood red color, his fangs grew longer, claws elongated and grew even sharper, a blue stripe appeared on both sides of his face, on his wrists, as well as his ankles, a growl escaped his throat as he lunged against the chains that confided him to the ground.

The brothers merely laughed, enraging him even more he lunged over and over again, straining at the chains that bound him, until- “Kagome, Inuyasha!” Sango, Miroku, and Shippo jumped off of Kerala and landed on the ground next to were Kagome was, still chained to the building.

Onlookers gasped and backed away, while Kagome greeted them happily “Miroku, Sango! How'd you guys get through the well?” Sango used her sword and cut through the chains, taking a step back as her friend gave her a hug.

“It grabbed us and pulled us through, what's going on here, who are they?” Sango pulled Hiraikotsu from her back and prepared to attack.

“They call themselves the Hell Brothers, they are after me and Inuyasha, they some how got through the well to.” Kagome rushed, shivering at the thought of what they could possibly want with them.

“What do they want with you and Inuyasha?” Sango focused on her then watched as Inuyasha growled louder, lounging at his bindings.

“I don't know, all they said was that we would find out soon enough.” Kagome was worried and anxious, I don't think there here to have a picnic that's for sure, her faced turned to Inuyasha, I wonder what's going on inside his head right now that turned him into this.

“You two are very strong, I'm sure whatever happens you wont die or anything.” Miroku tried to comfort her, as his left hand rubbed his cheek while he smiled mischievously, it appeared that Sango had slapped him for there was a really big red hand mark on the side of his face.

Jinome and his brothers attacked, the orbs of energy they held in their hands glowing red, they aimed for the little group and gave them a toss into the air.

It was so powerful that Kagome was thrown right next Inuyasha, who was lunging out at nothing in particular, and hit her head on the cement road beneath.

She sat up, and rubbed the back of her head trying to make the pain go away, Inuyasha turned and started to lunged at her. She backed away, he watched at her with sudden horror, and quickly looked at the ground, he seemed to realize what he had almost done. What's going on, why am I acting like this, I don't want to hurt Kagome; the question plagued his mind and filled him with worry. His eyes flashed golden, for just the quickest moment, as he abruptly turned away, punching the ground in an attempt to control himself. He turned back around, and stared at her, as if waiting for a command.

His ears pointed towards her, listening, waiting. Kagome reached out to his hand, his calm look faded and he went berserk. She touched his arm to calm him down, abruptly he stopped everything he had been doing, and out of no ware, he sat down like a dog, tilting his head, and watched her face with interest.

“Did she actually, I mean did she just so what I think she just did?” Miroku pulled himself up from where he had landed after the blast, and walked over to Sango, extending his hand to help her up.

Sango looked at his hand skeptically before shrugging and grabbing it with her own as he pulled her up.

“I don't know.” Kagome laughed inwardly at the sight before her, Inuyasha had somehow mustered up a cute little puppy face and look adorable sitting there. He looks like one of those puppies in a window you see in stores, to bad he isn't in his right mind, if he knew what he was doing he would probably freak out, and try covering it up with some excuse! She did the best she could of holding her laugh in as she imagined his face growing red and flustered from the embarrassment.

Sirokol threw a blast of acid at Kagome; Inuyasha pushed her aside and grabbed it with his hand just before it hit her, throwing it back with such force it knocked all the brothers over.

The orbs Mikolen and Jinemy had thrown flew through the air and went straight for Kagome, again Inuyasha blocked them, grabbing them out of the air as best he could with his arms bound so tightly to the ground below.

He growled menacingly as they dissolved in his hand, leaving nothing behind, the brothers looked at him with disbelieving faces, Kagome was doing the same, it didn't even burn his skin! I wonder how he managed to do that without leaving a mark of some sort.

Sango and Miroku, fallowed by Shippo and Kerala, came running over. Inuyasha raked the air trying to slice them apart with his claws, Kagome put her hand on his shoulder to calm him but it made him even more enraged, his eyes shut tightly as he grabbed his head.

Kill them, do it, Kill them all, they are all deceiving you, they don't want to help you, they want to destroy you!! Ripe them to pieces, do it NOW!” his demon inside was screaming.

Inuyasha eyes went wild as he thrashed the air over and over again until he hit Kagome. She fell onto the hard pavement and lay there motionless.

No don't, he is the one trying to deceive you, he wants to be released so he can kill everyone, remember what happened last time?!” the half that was his human soul spoke up, trying to over throw the demons evil intentions.

“Would you both just SHUT UP! I'm tired of your constant quarreling, it's driving me insane!” his mind shouted.

“See this is why he should listen to me, I try to point him in the right direction when you always butt in!”

“Only because your version of *right* direction is killing anyone and everyone!”

“Na uh, my idea's are good ones, besides who needs these useless mortals anyway?”

“Oh ya then what about Kagome, huh, you just going to kill her to?!”

“I would never kill Kagome, just everyone else, especially Koga, and that, what was his name again?”

“I think it was Hobo?”

“Oh ya right, and that Hobo boy that's always trailing after her like he doesn't have anywhere else to go.”

“Ya he gets to close to Kagome, and Koga as well, I'll agree with you on that, but what about Sango, Miroku, Shippo, and Kerala?”

“Eh, who cares about the demon slayer, she'll turn her back on us at some point in time, and Miroku is not trust worthy to not touch Kagome, Kerala I guess I can deal with, but Shippo! That little runt is always stealing away Kagome's attention and plus he gets us into a lot of trouble with her, making him look oh soooo innocent!”

“But they're our friends! You can't just go and kill them all!”

“And why the hell not, mortals are disposable, its not like anyone else would miss them!”

“Kagome would!”

“Oh ya she has kind of gotten attached to them…”

“Exactly”

“Well I guess I could keep them around, but if they come near I am not responsible for any injury I inflict on them!”

“Well I guess its better than flat out killing them… but it will still make Kagome upset.”

“Oh well she will learn to get over it in all good time.”

“Maybe, but probable not, she has too kind of a heart to just forget about it, she'll always be worrying about her friends safety around us and might even return to her own time!”

“Then I'll just tie her up and block her way home for good!”

“You tried that before remember, except without the whole tying up part, and the out come was a broken back!”

“Ya but this time she wont be able to talk, I'll put a rope in her mouth so she cant speak!”

“But then she would resent you and probably hate you for the rest of her life!”

“I can make her get over that easy.”

“So you wouldn't let her have any free will?!”

“I didn't say that, well I'll maybe give her a little.”

“A LITTLE?!”

“You got a problem with that?”

“Ya I do! You can't just take her away from her family and make her stay with you and do as you say!”

“Your right, Kagome wouldn't be able to live like that, she's to free spirited.”

“See Kagome is a frail human being, and is even more fragile than most because of her kind, and loving heart.”

“What was I thinking, though I'd still keep her from everyone else as mine and not let anyone come near! When people come near it spells out trouble and Kagome usually gets hurt, so I wont let it happen.”

“But she is a social human, she can't live with only one person as her company, she would be stressed at not having someone else to talk to, and besides, your not much of a nice conversational person anyway.”

“Your right, I'll let her brother near her and that's it, he's nice as well as trustable around her, anyone else would just drive me crazy.”

“Ya but what about him, he also likes the company of others, thought of that?!”

“That's his problem, I only care for Kagome and her alone, if he wants to whine let him, I'll just kill him later.”

“Your hopeless.”

“No I'm protective.”

“Your intentions are good for keeping her safe, but who's going to save her from you?”

“I can easily control my powers, and she will not get harmed in anyway by me.”

“This is why I should be in control more than you, you care less about everyone and only care about Kagome, which isn't a bad thing it just calls for mindless killing, and brutal stupidity.”

“Ha, don't make me laugh, if you were in control we wouldn't still be alive!”

“Yes we would because we wouldn't have been in those situations in the first place, I would be avoiding them so that Kagome had less of a chance to get hurt.”

“Are you implying that I go looking for danger and willingly put Kagome's life at stake?”

“I am saying that maybe you should stop trying to run head first into a fight without a plan, and start thinking before you act!”

“I can beat anyone who challenges me, so it doesn't matter, you on the other hand have to run from fights because you're so weak.”

“That may be so, but the only reason you can defeat all of your enemies is because of Kagome and my kindness making us stronger!”

“Huh, ya right like you could help me out! I understand how Kagome makes me stronger but you, you're so weak you can barely stay alive by your self, without me you'd be dead!”

“I may be weak but my kind nature is what gives me strength, and without me you wouldn't be able to harness the power that Kagome has over you and turn it into strength.”

“Oh ya?”

“Ya!”

“Are you challenging me?!”

“Maybe I am!”

“I'd like to see you try!”

“Really? I thought you didn't have enough brains to see my challenge!”

“Thinking only causes you to pause, and when you pause in a fight, you die. Besides I don't need brains to see a challenge, its in my instinct to know.”

“Oh ya, well at least if you think you might actually have a plan as to how your going to kill an enemy, you'd have more of a chance at defeating them!”

“So, if you fight your bound to win, power overcomes everything, you just have to be more powerful than everything else!”

“Erg, you'll never learn will you?”

“I guess not, so you still want to settle this?”

“Ya”

“Good, but I must warn you I don't go easy on woman!”

“WHY YOU!!!!!”

“Would you two just SHUT UP!!!!” Inuyasha yelled at them in him mind, his angry features showing.

“Temper, temper Inuyasha, having trouble gaining control of your self? I can tell we are going to have LOTS of fun with you.” Jinome's faced was marred with a twisted smile, they don't know what their in for.

Inuyasha's eyes rested on Kagome's unconscious body, not even realizing that he had been flailing about. What have I done, none of this was supposed to happen, the half of his soul that was human silently wept, as the demon half was furious with its own actions.

“Is she ok?” Shippo jumped off of Miroku's shoulder, when he reached the hard ground he landed with a thud and started running towards Kagome's body without thinking.

“Shippo, no, wait-“ Miroku yelled as he made to grab the kitsune as he scampered away.

Inuyasha slashed out at his side as best he could, Shippo was about to turn tail and run, but it was already to late, with his mind clouded he didn't know what he had done, Inuyasha cut into his right shoulder, leaving a gaping gash in it.

The wound bled freely, the sleeve of Shippo's kimono was shredded, slowly it glided to the ground where it lay, the young kit was almost thankful Inuyasha was in restraints, otherwise he wouldn't still be alive right now.

Still oblivious to what he had just done, Inuyasha sat there next to Kagome's body and seemed to wait as Shippo struggled to get up, his shoulder was starting to heal but it stopped at where his claw had dug in and made no inclination that it would heal any further.

Wincing at the pain he managed to get up and race back to Miroku, her clambered painfully up his arm and perched himself on the monks shoulder, “Are you alright Shippo?” He was worried about the little kitsune, knowing how attached he was with both Kagome and Inuyasha, yes even Inuyasha, he admitted to himself, even though he yelled at him sometimes, and hit him over the head a lot, he still looked up to Inuyasha for courage, strength, and safety, he even seemed to adopt him and Kagome as his foster parents.

Kerala let out a little sad mew, and hopping onto the monk's shoulder she walked over to Shippo, and tenderly licked his wound as she tried to comfort him.

Shippo was on the brink of tears, he couldn't get to Kagome and Inuyasha had cut his shoulder deeply, he sniffled and bit his lip to hold them back, “ya I th-think I'll be ok-k” he sniffled again.

Kagome still hadn't moved a muscle as she lay on the hard rock surface, Inuyasha's eyes were locked on her, he hadn't moved an inch, towards or away from, her seemingly lifeless form, he just stared blankly at her as though trying to concentrate on something that wasn't there.

“You said you wouldn't hurt her!”

“I didn't, the girl is merely out cold. I have done her no harm.”

Inside Inuyasha was fighting with the demon half of his soul, which had taken control over his body, furious at himself for letting this happen, how could I be so weak.

Sango gathered her nerves and readied herself incase Inuyasha decided to strike out at her, “Miroku, don't you think it's a bit odd that Inuyasha will attack anyone of us, but not Kagome in this state?” she pointed at him, once her finger had moved to where he was, he started to snarl and snap at her, his mood had changed so quickly that Sango had been startled after being ready for it.

His mood didn't only affect Sango, Miroku, and Shippo, but the people in the crowd as well, people started coming out of their confused state and were now backing slowly away from the group, the news crews were following suit, but they still kept filming, not wanting to miss anything that was happening.

Souta watched the news with his grandpa and mother; they were all sitting at the edge of the couch seat now, their eyes glued to the screen.

Souta's stomach started growling, his mother smiled, stood up, walked to the kitchen, and began to prepare dinner for her family.

Grandpa and Souta's mouths were watering; Mama was cooking steak and cheesy mash potatoes. They were hungry before, but now they were ravenous, the food smelled soooo good!

Miss. Higurashi smiled, at least they like my cooking, I should make extra so there will be leftovers for Kagome, Inuyasha and her other friends, I'm sure they'll all be hungry after such a harsh battle as this.

Souta and gramps waited on the couch, until the aroma finally got to them and they quickly made their way to the kitchen table to eat.

Mama laughed softly, “Souta would you mind making the table?” she brought out the silver ware and plates for them to eat on.

“No problem mom, I can handle it.” He went to work setting out the forks, knives, and plates for three people along the table.

Mama set the bowl of cheesy mash potatoes in the middle, and the steak plate next to it, she went into the fridge and pulled out some diet cokes and handed one to each of them, setting hers next to her plate.

Grandpa said grace and they hungrily started to eat; Souta was eating his steak drenched in cheesy mash potatoes, he ate it so fast he almost couldn't catch his breath in between chews.

Grandpa wolfed down his food, not caring what was on it, and opening his soda he took a long drink before grabbing another steak and repeating it.

Mama ate slowly, savoring every bite; she cut up the pieces into little cubes and dipped them in the juices left over in the pan she had cooked the steak in. She shook her head as she watched the two eat; it looked like they were trying to swallow without chewing (sorta like what I do sometimes!!! XD).

“So how was school today Souta?” she asked between sips of her diet coke.

“Eh it was so, so” he shrugged, he had soccer practice in gym that evening and he had made a total fool out of himself by slipping and falling backwards on his back, trying to kick the ball farther.

“So nothing new?” she questioned further.

“No, nothing new…” he looked at his food with distaste while he twisted his fork in some of his potatoes.

“Ok, so how about you grandpa. Anything new around the shrine today?” she finished off her soda and put it on her plate so she could dispose of it when she cleaned the dishes.

“Well I did find a new scroll in the basement, it was our great great great great grandfathers.” He looked pensively at the ceiling trying to remember all the details; Souta groaned under his breath, great another one of his stories about the past, better get out of here quick before I fall asleep on the table again.

“Mama may I be excused?” he looked at her with pleading eyes.

“Put your dish in the sink and then yes, you may be excused.” She nodded as he quickly got up and disposed of his plate in the sink, he ran out of the kitchen and back into the living room to play more video games. That was until, he saw his sister.

His eyes widened, “Mama come quick I think something happened to Kagome!” his eyes never left the screen as he yelled for them.

They came running into the room and over to his side before sitting down on the couch again.

“Its tragic, a girl has been struck and doesn't seem to be getting up anytime soon.” The reporter talked into the camera at the many viewers, she put on a serious face for them as she spoke.

“Mama do you think she's going to be alright?” Souta looked at his mother, his eyes filled with worry for his sister.

“I don't know Souta, I guess all we can do is hope and pray for the best.” Her eyes were full of sadness and fear for her over worked daughter that was now lying on her side in the middle of a street, next to a raging Hanyou that was out of control.

“Inuyasha will take care of her, he's kept her alive so far, I don't think he's going to give up on her that easily.” She stated, she sat straighter and watched Inuyasha with proud eyes, Kagome is lucky to have such good friends.

Souta nodded his agreement “Yeah your right there's nothing to worry with Inuyasha around to protect her.” He lifted his chin and smiled smugly, he's practically my brother, or at least adopted brother anyway, he wouldn't let us down, not now.

Grandpa also nodded his head sage like, closing his eyes as if thinking. A smile tugged at the corners of his mouth.

Inuyasha was almost sweating, fighting with his demon soul was taking a lot out of him, but he kept trying, determined to win the battle.

Shippo looked up, he could feel Inuyasha's pain, even from the distance, it was so strong. His eyes saddened as he watched his adopted foster parent shake and tremble, trying desperately to win the fight he was in.

The whole group could only watch Inuyasha with amazed, yet sad eyes, he had never been through so much pain, but he still kept fighting back, even though he was being eaten away form the inside, out.

“I wonder if he's going to be ok.” Sango placed a hand on Hiraikotsu, and looked at her friends as they struggled, Kagome, to wake up, Inuyasha, to win against the demon half of his soul, both had their work cut out for them.

“Inuyasha is strong willed, he should recover in no time, so long as Kagome is ok that is.” Miroku brought a hand up to his chin as he spaced out for a moment, thinking of all the possible out comes after this nerve-racking event.

Shippo straightened up “Of course he will, and Kagome will be just fine, you'll see.” He looked at them determinedly, I'm going to make sure that it does, and that's a promise.

Inuyasha looked up in time to see Jinome shift his position and prepare himself.
