Chapter 3: Growing Affections

 

 

 

“Come on Koinu. Your mom said she wanted us to have cookies when we were done with our movie!” Kagome took Inuyasha's hand as they made their way to the kitchen where Izayoi was putting the cookies on a plate.

 

“ Right on time!” The woman said cheerily motioning for the teenagers to have a seat at the table.

 

“ Chocolate chip. Yes!” Kagome squealed with delight as she hopped into her chair. The girl inhaled the cookie and gulped down some milk. “These are awesome.”

 

“ They are pretty damn good Mom.” Inuyasha said as he stuffed several cookies into his mouth at once.

 

“ Chew it thoroughly. It's easier for your digestive system.” The teens nodded then smiled at one another.

 

“ After this I've got to go.” Kagome whispered to Inuyasha who nodded with a frown. It'd been a while since he was this comfortable with someone and frankly, it frightened the shit out of him.

 

Despite Izayoi's pleading for Kagome to stay for dinner Inuyasha proceeded to take the girl home. “ Today was fun.” Kagome said as she removed her seatbelt. As if by instinct Kagome leaned across towards Inuyasha and placed a kiss on his cheek. It wasn't meant as really a romantic gesture. It was just a sign of affection. Kagome hopped out of the car, waved to Inuyasha then bolted up the shrine steps.

 

“ Yea..Today was fun.” Inuyasha said to no one in particular.

 

 

 

Inuyasha and Kagome's relationship developed greatly over the next three months though no one except their families knew that the two spent so much time with one another. It was hard for them to keep their strictly friendly relationship secret from everyone they knew. The two teens knew that at some point someone would find out and the media would have a frenzy.. but for now they were happy. At one another's homes they would share chaste kisses and lingering hugs.. but they were just friends.

 

Inuyasha winked at Kagome who huffed and turned to Sango. “ He's such an arrogant prick.” Kagome growled to Sango who glared at Miroku and Inuyasha who were snickering to one another.

 

“ You both are pervs!” Sango said glaring more at Miroku than at Inuyasha.

 

“ My dear Sango what ever have my friend Inuyasha and I done to offend you both so badly?” Miroku smiled slyly at Sango, his violet eyes sparkling. Sango sighed with defeat and turned to Kagome.

 

“ Remind me why we don't knee them in the nuts like they deserve..” Sango said quietly to Kagome who only giggled slightly.

 

“ Because that'd just be mean.” Kagome said rolling her eyes. Sango giggled and turned back to her textbook. While the class waited for the teacher to get to class Inuyasha managed to sneak a note into Kagome's book. The girl opened up the book to find a folded piece of notebook paper. Before opening it up she looked at Inuyasha who nodded and wordlessly answered, `Yea, I wrote it.'

 

 

Princess,

Coming over later? The parental units and Fluffy are out of town.

Kagome refolded up the paper and nodded to Inuyasha who smirked before looking back down at his book. With a yawn Kagome leaned against one of her hands as she began to drift off to sleep. Yuka, one of Kagome's friends who sat to the left of her pulled Kagome's book from under her elbow and Kagome's head began to fall towards the desk. Luckily Kagome wasn't too deep asleep otherwise she would hit her head badly against the tabletop.

 

“ What's this?!” Yuka asked as she found a folded piece of paper sticking out of Kagome's book. “ Who's `I' and why does this person call you `Princess'?!” Yuka whispered loudly causing the girls around Yuka to turn towards Kagome.

 

“ Are you holding out on us?! Who's your boyfriend?” Eri asked as she looked at the paper.

 

“ No one.” Kagome hissed at the girls.

 

“ Come on!” Yuka and Eri pleaded with feigned sadness.

 

“ Shut up!” Inuyasha snapped suddenly. The girls swooned as they looked at Inuyasha then fell silent. Kagome turned her attention back towards her schoolwork. `Why hasn't he asked me out? Am I that repulsive?' Kagome huffed inwardly. Now this was going to bother her all day and it was only first period. `Fuck this shit. I'm ditching after this class.' Kagome took out her cell phone from her pocket and proceeded to text message Inuyasha.

 

 

 

 

After class Kagome cautiously walked out to the school parking lot and made her way towards her car when Inuyasha pulled up next to her. Without a word Kagome looked around and got into the car.

 

“ So where are we going?” Inuyasha asked as he drove from the parking lot.

 

“ Hell, I don't know. I was just really irritated at Yuka and Eri.” Kagome said as she began to fiddle with the radio.

 

“ Why?” Inuyasha knew why, he had meant to ask her to go out with him `officially' tonight since his parents were out of town. In all technicality they were already dating, it just wasn't official.

 

“ Nothing.” Kagome pouted and seethed inwardly about how dense Inuyasha could be.

 

“ Wanna go to my house?” Inuyasha suggested hopefully.

 

“ Why not.” Kagome shrugged and looked at Inuyasha who was smiling slyly. They drove to Inuyasha's and went inside. Kagome plopped down onto the couch and began to watch TV. Inuyasha made some popcorn since he had all the servants take the next couple of days off. He took a seat next to Kagome and she leaned against his arm sleepily.

 

“ What did Yuka and Eri do to bug you?” Inuyasha asked as he kept his eye glued onto the tv.

 

“ It's not really them.. why don't you want me?” Kagome asked brazenly though she turned her head from Inuyasha.

 

“ I do want you.” Kagome turned to face Inuyasha and she nearly melted as he put an arm around her waist and pulled her close to him. He placed gentle kiss on Kagome's lips before turning it into a more passionate one. She moaned as Inuyasha placed a hand in Kagome's hair and pushed her closer to him. Inuyasha couldn't get enough of her taste.. if her mouth tasted this good…

 

RINNNNGGG

 

Kagome groaned as she angrily picked up her phone without even looking at the ID.

 

“ Hello?!” It was Sango and she sounded absolutely frantic.

 

“ Hey, what's up?” Kagome asked stifling a sad sigh.

 

“ Where are you?” Sango asked curiously. “ You weren't in 2nd period.”

 

“ I wasn't feeling too great so I ditched.” Kagome answered honestly, she just omitted the part about Inuyasha. The hanyou smirked and began to attack her neck with sloppy kisses and little nips.

 

“ Where'd you go?” Kagome bit back a moan as Inuyasha's hand snaked its way up the back of her shirt.

 

“ I'm just hanging out at home.”

 

“ Okay, I'll talk you later. Bye.” Kagome said bye and hung up happily. Her arms wrapped around Inuyasha and she smiled happily at Inuyasha. Without words the two locked into another heated kiss.

 

“ So what does this mean?” Kagome asked after they pulled apart for air. The young miko settled herself to sit on Inuyasha's lap.

 

“ I figured it meant we're together now.” Inuyasha said as he tightened his arms around Kagome who buried herself happily in her hanyou's chest.

 

“ Good. Want some ramen? I'm hungry.” Kagome asked as she jumped off of Inuyasha's lap. She took the hanyou's hand as she made her way to the kitchen. As they sat in the kitchen Kagome swore she saw a flashbulb go off outside. “Did you see that?” Kagome asked curiously as she turned away from the windows.

 

“ See what?” Inuyasha asked as he slurped up his ramen.

 

“ The flashbulb outside. I swear I saw one go off.” Inuyasha's eyes flashed and he walked out by the window. Just as Kagome said a flashbulb went off once again. Inuyasha growled and opened up the window out jumped out into the backyard. Kagome stayed sitting as Inuyasha went and chased after the photographer.

 

It took a few moments but Inuyasha was able to catch up to the photographer who was wheezing from the run.

 

“ What the fuck are you doing here?” Inuyasha asked the photographer, fighting the urge to grab the man and shake him by the lapels of his jacket.

 

“ Just..taking..pictures..” The photographer wheezed as he hunched over to catch his breath.

 

“ You're lucky I'm in a good mood otherwise I'd call the cops and have you arrested for going onto my property.” Inuyasha snarled threateningly. The photographer nodded and stood up once again.

 

“ Yes Mr. Takahashi. I was just getting some pictures of you and Kikyou. It's a few hundred a piece for certain tabloids.” The man explained as Inuyasha pulled his wallet from his back pocket.

 

“ This should cover the photos. Just give me the roll of film and take the money. I don't want to catch you on my property ever again. Got it?” Inuyasha said as the man handed him the roll of film from his camera. The photographer nodded as he took the money and ran off.

 

Inuyasha walked back into the house with the film crushed into the palm of his hand. Kagome smiled at Inuyasha as she finished off the rest of her ramen. “Did you find him?” Inuyasha nodded and showed Kagome the roll of film.

 

“ I caught him and paid him for his roll of film.” The hanyou placed the roll of film on the kitchen table then began to laugh, making Kagome quirk an eyebrow. “The guy thought you were Kikyou. YOU. He thought YOU were Kikyou.” Inuyasha began to laugh harder before picking up his spoon to eat his ramen.

 

“ What'd you say?” Kagome asked curiously.

 

“ I didn't tell him that you weren't Kikyou. Can you imagine the scandal it would create? Imagine what the tabloids would say.. `Inuyasha Seen With Kikyou Look Alike.' “ Inuyasha shuddered at the thought and began to slurp his ramen. “You don't mind right? The fact that we have to keep us secret?”

 

“ Of course not!” Kagome assured him. “I have no problem with that.” Kagome lied and smiled to Inuyasha who smiled back.
