Chapter 20~Kagomes Threat To Naraku
Kagome woke in the middle of the night-*Oh, man I’ve really gotta gotta go.*
She got up quietly-*Better take my bow and arrows just in case.*
She quietly walked past the sleeping boys and out of the hut and found a near by bush and did her thing.
Kagome ducked behind a big bush-*Much better.*
She started to walk back to the hut until- * I sense jewel shards close by.*
A cold eerie voice spoke and hit its target like daggers-“How is my mate?”
Kagome spun around to see Naraku fifty feet away, fear and anger swept over her.
Naraku with an evil grin-“I see you are lost for words.”
She notched an arrow and painfully took aim. Sweat dripped down the side of her face. She shook her head, finding it difficult to release the arrow.
Kagome-*What’s wrong with me?*
Naraku-“You are foolish. You do not have the heart to kill your lover.”
Kagomes eyes flashes with anger-“You’re right Naraku.” she relaxed her bow and removed the notched arrow, as she bowed her head slightly..
She dropped her bow at her side and put the arrow head to her chest-“I can mess up your whole plan with once thrust.”
Narakus eyes squinted-*No she wouldn’t. The curse hasn’t taken full effect of her yet. This will take time to break her.*
Kagome saw the look in his eyes and pushed the arrow into her chest enough to draw blood.
Naraku-“You will kill yourself instead of being mine?”
Kagome- “I would rather die a thousand painful deaths, then to have you as a husband, and for you to corrupt a demon child that will fallow in your foot steps of control and deception. Let alone allow you to do that to me.”
Naraku-.*She believe that we are mated....good* “Without love?”
Kagomes eyes swirled with rage she was in pain her stomach was cramping all because of him.-“At least I have loved deeper than most and I am grateful to have known that feeling.”
Naraku-“Ah, but you do not wish to live... to have it returned to you. To remember the feel of your lover...taking you.”
Kagomes eyes watered as her gut clenched with the threat to dispel itself -“YOU STOLE THAT FROM ME AND I WILL STOP YOU ANYWAY I HAVE TOO” her courage was bottled up and ready to explode in one thrust.
“KAGOME”
Inuyasha jumped in front of her with tessaiga unsheathed.
Naraku narrowed his eyes with disgust-“Inuyasha, you have impeccable timing as always.”
Kagome removed the arrow and fell to her hands and knees panting in pain holding her stomach. Tears rolling freely down her cheeks.
Inuyasha turned his eyes from Kagome back to the hanyou- "What are you going to do for a face when that ape wants his butt back?"
Naraku with a smirk- “She would rather die instead, since she is invisible to you, the loveless flee infestation, that you are. Then to bear a child and raise it beside me, as a queen. And be treated as a lover should be.”
Inuyasha was raging inside he was about to charge-“Who said I was loveless.”
Kagome looked at Inuyasha-*He’s just saying that because Naraku has confronted him about it and he doesn’t want Naraku to be right. Or he’s talking about Kikyo.*
Naraku looked at Kagome and back at the hanyou-“ She’s mine hanyou, she yearns for me, she bears my offspring.”
Kagome darted her eyes up to the top of her eye lids to stare at Naraku-“You'll pay Naraku for all of this.”Kagome whimpered in pain again.
Naraku laughed coldly-“My curse will consume you and you will be mine forever.”
Inuyasha screamed-“Your damn curse will not last Naraku. I’ll see to that.” as he charged.
Kagome was kneeling with a notched arrow aimed. She let it fly. It whizzed passed Inuyasha with great speed and struck Naraku in his hip.
Kagome fell back on to her hands panting heavily.
Her ears were ringing from the loud scream from Naraku.
Naraku-“You will pay for that later.” he winked at Kagome and vanished.
Kagome finally let herself fall to the ground in pain.
Sheathing his tessaiga, Inuyasha rushed over and picked her up-“Are you hurt...are you okay?”
Kagome just panted heavily as sweat speckled her face. Inuyasha picked up on her sent that had thickened a great deal.
Inuyasha rushed her into the hut and laid her down.
Kagome weak voice came -“Inuyasha, would you hold me I..I just need to feel safe. Please don’t leave me.” she started to cry.
Inuyasha pulled the frightened girl into his lap and rapped one arm over her waist. She hid her face into his chest. He felt her completely relax and fall asleep in his arms. He also couldn’t help but feel secure and drifted off to sleep soon after.
~~~~~Later that night~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Miroku woke to an ominous spirit lingering in the area. In a whispered tone-“Inuyasha, wake up there’s something in the air.”
Inuyashas eyes opened as if he wasn’t asleep. He gently scooted out of his sleeping position with Kagoma trying not to wake her.
Inuyasha ran out of the hut to be greeted by kikyos soul gatherers.
Inuyasha-*What are they doing here? I can’t leave Kagome, but I have to find out for myself what Kikyo is up too.*
Inuyasha followed the soul snatchers to the skirt of the forest.
Inuyasha-*Good, I can still see the hut and smell everything that’s going on inside the it. Damn lech if he evens...*
Kikyo appeared in a tree in front of him-“Inuyasha”
Inuyashas eyes narrowed as he scolded at the dead miko-“Kikyo how could you.”
Kikyo with her normal blank expression-“How could I have what Inuyasha?”
Inuyasha-“You help Naraku take Kagome. You knew what they were going to do to her...”
Kikyo-“Yes, and your point is. You are mine Inuyasha did you forget?”
Inuyasha stared coldly at the miko.
Kikyo- “Why should I care if you found somebody new and you look like you’re in love.
And why should I care if she looks a lot like me, and she’s all you’ve ever dreamed of.
I didn’t care enough to keep you around so why should I care now.
I was the one who let you go, I never told you that I loved you, I never promised anything the way you needed me too.
My heart was never really there so why should I care.
I mean nothing in your eyes, what you felt for me is gone.
Why should I feel this way now that it’s to late to change what I did wrong.
Onigumos out for revenge on my behalf. And I fight the future from taking the past.”
Inuyasha-*She is jealous of Kagome. She knows how I feel about her and so Kagome is their target* . “Stay away from Kagome.”
Kikyo laughed coldly-“Or what.”
Inuyasha turned around to walk back to the hut.
He stopped after a couple of steps and calmly said without looking back-“Or I’ll kill you.” and walked away.
Kikyos eyes widened and then narrowed as she watched Inuyasha walk away from her.She turned to leave and paused-"You could never kill me Inuyasha. I know that all too well."
