Kagome stopped suddenly. “What is it, Kagome?” her hanyou companion asked, turning to her in concern. “I sense two jewel shards and they're coming our way!” Inuyasha smirked and unsheathed his Tetsuiga. “Perfect. This day has been pretty boring so far.” Kagome sighed and turned toward her friends. Sango was already in her demon exterminator outfit, standing beside the transformed two-tail, Kirara. Miroku stood ready as Shippo perched on his shoulder. “Die, murderer!” came a cry from above. The group looked up to see a violet blur descending quickly. As a clawed foot connected squarely with Inuyasha's face, the quick-tempered hanyou dropped his sword and fell to the ground. “It's time, murderer. Time I get my revenge.” Inuyasha looked up at his assailant. Violet swirled around her face as fierce blue eyes stared down into his amber ones. “Amber eyes, long silver hair, and the unmistakable scent of the great Inutaisho in your blood. You are the one I've been searching for. It's time you die, Sesshomaru!” The rest of the gang fell to the ground. Kagome stood quickly, stifling a laugh. “You think he's Sesshomaru? Come on, even I'm not that dense. This is Inuyasha, Sesshomaru's brother.” “Half-brother. I'd rather have as little to do with that bastard as possible.” A confused look spread across the attacker's face. “You mean… you… you're not Sesshomaru?” “Nope. Looks like you've been tracking the wrong guy.” The girl, in a mix of anger and confusion, lashed out at Inuyasha. He quickly dodged her punch and allowed his own fist to connect with her skull. Almost immediately, she blacked out and fell to the ground.
The female awoke to see dark brown eyes staring at her. “Oh good, you're alright. We were beginning to worry Inuyasha had hit you a bit too hard.” She smiled slightly at the girl's concern. “I'm okay. It's just… I'm a little weak from… something I did earlier.” “Well, I guess it's lucky you have those jewel shards. Otherwise, I think you would've woken up with a bit more than a bump on your head.” The woman gasped quietly. “She can see the jewel shards?” “By the way, my name's Kagome. The girl over there is Sango and the man next to her is Miroku.” Without warning, a young kitsune leapt into the girl's lap. “I'm Shippo. The two-tail cat with Sango is Kirara. And I think you've met Inuyasha.” He gestured to a red lump sitting in the corner. “Feh,” came the only reply “Sorry. Inuyasha's kinda mad `cuz Kagome `sat' him a lot after he knocked you out.” “Sat?” “Yeah. Kagome's a miko and, because of the rosary around Inuyasha's neck, anytime she says the word `sit', he fall face first into the ground.” The girl raised an eyebrow and glanced over at the grumbling hanyou. “Feh.” Kagome spoke up once more. “You never told us your name, you know.” The woman turned back to the smiling miko. “My name is Mika. I'm sorry for troubling you all like this. I was almost certain that I'd finally found Sesshomaru, but I was mistaken.” “Why is it that you are searching for Sesshomaru anyway, miss?” Miroku asked suddenly. “I need revenge. That… that foul youkai murdered my father.” Suddenly, Mika turned away as tears formed in her eyes. “I'm… I'm sorry. I have to go.” With that, Mika leapt out of the hut and bounded off into the night.
Mika ran as fast her legs would allow before collapsing near a small rock. “I can't keep running like this. I have to tell someone…” “Tell someone what?” She turned sharply to face the spying hanyou. “Why did you follow me?” “Cuz something's wrong and I wanna know what.” Mika sighed and turned away from him once more. “I… you… I would have thought you'd have figured it out by now. Sesshomaru killed my father. My human father, Inuyasha.” “Wha… what are you saying?” “I'm a hanyou, Inuyasha. Just like you.”
