Soon, Mika heard Kirara utter a low growl. Quickly, she looked down below them and saw a small, pale girl with white hair. The girl was carrying a mirror and appeared to be talking to herself. “Guys! Kanna alert! She's directly below us!” No response came and Mika turned to see both Sesshomaru and Inuyasha were asleep. To herself, she thought, “How the hell can these two sleep at a time like this? I wonder how I can wake them up? Hmm… maybe if I send them a disturbing mental image, it'll shock `em awake.” Mika chuckled and sent an image of a naked Kaede to their minds. “AHHHHHHHH!” Both males were now fully awake. “Heh-heh. Sorry guys, but I had to wake you. Kanna is down below.” Both growled and looked down. “She is correct. Naraku's reincarnation is heading towards that cave, but why?” “Hey, I think that's the cave that Kikyo carried Onigumo to, the same place where he sold his body to the demons and became Naraku! But, I've been to that cave before. There's nothing there. Why the hell would Naraku want to go there?” “I don't know, but we're about to find out!” Mika thought. Then, aloud she said, “Kirara, land here, please.” The two-tail obeyed and made a quick landing. As they climbed off her back, Mika said, “Stay in this form, please, Kirara, we may need you to help us fight.” Kirara nodded. Slowly, they watched as Kanna entered the cave and quickly followed.

Inside, they saw Kanna speaking to an image in her mirror. “I am here, Master Naraku. What is it that you desire?” “Excellent, Kanna. You shall be greatly rewarded once I am free from this mirror. I sealed a piece of my soul in this mirror, your mirror, just before I was sucked into the Wind Tunnel. However, it seems I sealed the monk and taijya's souls as well. Hopefully being released here, at the focal point of my demonic power, will kill them instantly and allow me to carry on as I did before without their interference.” “You'll never get away with this, Naraku! We will break free, do you understand?” Mika gasped as she heard Miroku's voice coming form the mirror. “Foolish, monk. What is it that you are thinking, that Inuyasha will come and save you, that he will realize you are not dead? I doubt it. He will be too busy trying to convince Kagome to return to him, instead of staying in the future where she thinks she belongs.” Inuyasha growled at Naraku's mention of Kagome. “Naraku, you'll get what you deserve! You'll pay for killing Kohaku!” “Which time do you refer to, slayer, long ago or just recently when Kagura extracted his shard and added it to my fragment of the jewel? In either case, you cannot kill me. If you do, you shall die here, inside of this mirror, unable even to see Kohaku in the afterlife.” Sango seemed to glare at Naraku, as Kanna spoke once more. “Master, shall I invoke the chant?” “Yes, Kanna, chant and bring me to life once more!” As Kanna began to chant in a hushed tone, Inuyasha sent a message to Sesshomaru. “Hey, Fluffy, can we attack now before she resurrects the bastard?” “Yes, Inuyasha. Mika, are you ready?” “Yes. Now, come on, let's get him.”

 

Inuyasha unsheathed Tetsuiga and cried out, “Wind Scar!” His attack hit Kanna square in the back, causing her to break the chant and fall forward, nearly breaking the mirror in the process. “Kanna, do not become distracted! Resurrect me, then we shall deal with them!” Quickly, Kanna said the rest of the chant and a great dark cloud enveloped them all. “Inuyasha? Sesshomaru? Where are you?” “I have no idea. I can't see anything in this damn dark cloud!” “Whatever you do, watch your backs. We have no clue if and where Naraku is lurking in this darkness.” “Okay, Sessh, I'll-” Suddenly, a scream pierced the males thoughts. “Mika!” they cried, finding themselves unable to contact her mentally. Suddenly, the cloud vanished and they saw they were alone in the cave with Kirara, Mika nowhere in sight. “She must be unconscious, Inuyasha. I think Naraku attacked her.” “No shit, Fluffy. But, where the hell is he and what did he do with Mika?” “I don't know, Inuyasha. I just don't know.” “Hey, Inuyasha!” Inuyasha raised his head and saw Miroku and Sango running towards him. “What the-? I thought Naraku said you guys would die if he was released here?” “I guess you thought wrong. I'm more alive then ever, and, aside from this damn Wind Tunnel, healthy as can be.” “So am I, physically at least. Did you guys get the Naraku's jewel fragment? Is it complete?” Inuyasha rummaged through his haori and found the nearly complete Shikon no Tama. “Almost. Mika still has the shards we took from Kouga.” “Where is that lovely female hanyou, anyway? And, is it my imagination, or is that Sesshomaru standing next to you?” “It is him. After he and Mika fought, Mika told Fluffy that he had to help us complete the jewel and he agreed. As for Mika, we think Naraku kidnapped her.” Sango gasped. “Kidnapped? That's terrible. We have to go find her!” Sesshomaru nodded. “I agree. We must search for Mika at once.” As they climbed atop Kirara, Miroku commented, “Well, we are still alive and the Shikon Jewel is near completion. That a couple steps in the right direction.” “Feh. Yeah right. As long as Naraku is alive again, it'll always be two steps forward, one giant leap back into a bottomless pit.”
