InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Void ❯ Husband and Son ( Chapter 7 )
A/N: I was really tired when I wrote this and am really unsatisfied with how it came out, but am too lazy to come up with anything better... please just bear with me for now... >_<
I’ve actually tried rewriting this chapter several times, but it keeps coming out either worse, or exactly the same, so I’ve kinda given up hope that it’s ever gonna change... >_< Sorry Tryst if this is going nothing like you expected!
And that reminds me, though I appreciate everyone telling me that this is a very original story I’ve come up with and they’ve never seen anything quite like it, I can’t take the credit for it. This plot belongs to Tryst/Punishment of the Inu and her challenge. She’s the one who came up with this unique and slightly out-there sort of challenge. I’m just writing it for her. ^_^
-inuyashaloverr - Lol, so my AN do have some use other than to get rid of some of my ranting energy! ^_^ -- Lol, I don’t know what’s going to happen when Sess and Inu encounter again-- it hasn’t happened yet in this chapter.
-Tryst/Punishment of the Inu - Lol, yeah I liked the last chapter too (which is more than I can say for this one!) I have absolutely no idea at the moment what Naraku is up to. Probably something devious though, if we know him at all. ^_^ Lol, yeah I noticed both your post and you update! I’m glad you decided to do both! Hopefully you’ll get another person writing out your plot, neh? ^_^
-inuyashas honey - Lol, well like I said up top, I can’t take credit for the plot-- it belongs to Tryst/Punishment of the Inu. ^_^ Still I’m glad you’re enjoying it. Yeah, I know my chapters are shorter than most people’s... Maybe that’s why I update faster. I just don’t have the energy to sit down and write a really long, 18-pager like other people. Or the patience for that matter. Lol, I get that the last chapter was probably a bit of a disappointment, content wise (this chapter’s probably gonna be similar) but I prefer writing stories like that. Dedicating whole chapters to nothing in particular sometimes helps me get a better feel of what’s going to happen in the story. Although, I have to disagree with you slightly on the only thing in that chapter being Inuyasha in Sesshomaru‘s prison. There were some more, minor details in the chapter about Inuyasha, but the are likely things you could have figured out later on, or in a longer chapter.
Oh, and there is a reference to a character from the third movie in here, so if you haven’t seen that... well, then, basically you won’t be entirely sure who the hell I’m talking about, but it won’t really effect anything in any way I suppose...
Anyway, since I’m really unhappy with this chapter, I’m just finishing up another one and it should be posted fairly quickly as well. Hopefully I’ll like that one better... ~*~ Husband and Son
‘You did what?!’ Inu Taisho demanded, rushing to his feet as his only son stared calmly and coldly back at him.
‘I said I brought the hanyou back here.’ Sesshomaru replied, regarding his father evenly. Inu Taisho’s eyes narrowed slightly.
‘You want to tell me why you did a thing like that?’ He demanded, trying to suppress his rage and exasperation.
Izayoi bit the inside of her lip with a sharp canine, watching the exchange between her son and mate, her bright silver eyes darkening slightly, hating how the two always seemed to be at odds with each other.
Her son had never been exactly an open type of person in the first place, but lately he seemed to be pulling even further away, and Inu Taisho, already frustrated with Naraku’s constant assaults on their lands, was now becoming even more so with their son.
As such, tension in the Inus’ household had mounted to a nigh unbearable level. The last thing that they needed right now was another dispute.
Still, she couldn’t help but be slightly intrigued with their new prisoner.
Not, necessarily, because of who he was or how he acted (she had yet to actually see the boy, let alone meet him) but because of what he was and where he was from.
It was rather customary in demon clans (the more aristocratic branches of them anyway) to take their children to a seer shortly after their birth and try and learn something of their future-- how long they might live, what they might become, how successful they will be and other such things like that.
The predictions were vague, and you usually didn’t get more than one answer to those oh-so-vital questions, but it was still something worth going for.
In her case, the predictions had told her she would one day become Lady of the Western lands.
That, in a sense, had answered two questions, since it was obvious she would have to mate with the Lord to accomplish such, but it had been true nonetheless, and ever since then she placed much more faith in the predictions.
Which is why she was so interested now.
Because she just wanted to see her son happy.
And, when she had taken Sesshomaru to get his prophecy read, Inu Taisho had been at war, and had not been able to attend. Since Sesshomaru had still be only a child, he could not remember what the seer had said, and so Izayoi was the only one who knew anymore...
The witch they had gone to had been old and vague (as most of them were wont to be), but Izayoi still remembered her prediction.
And, if it was true, then she may have finally found the mate for her son they had searched so long for.
The hanyou.
She was drawn back into the now as Inu Taisho’s voice raised a notch, taking on an angry note.
‘We do not capture enemies just for the sake of capturing them, Sesshomaru!’ The dog lord snarled at his son. ‘I know you are smarter than that, so you’d better start explaining yourself. Why did you capture the hanyou?’
Sesshomaru never faltered under his father’s harsh words and harsher gaze, his own permanently frozen-over eyes regarding them indifferently.
‘For one, father, he carried with him the scent of Naraku, and revealed to me himself that he is the kumo’s son-- the one that has been used for all of Naraku’s slaughters. For another, he was carrying this.’
And here Sesshomaru raised the blade he had taken from the hanyou, his hand wrapped in a protective cloth to shield it and stop the katana from harming him as it pulsed angrily in his grasp.
A deep silence filled the room, broken only by the dull rattling that came from the three fangs-- Tetsusaiga, Tenseiga and Sounga-- as they trembled within their sheaths, calling out to one another-- this simple tell-tale sign enough to reveal that they were, indeed, the three blades of legend.
‘Is that...’ Inu Taisho said softly, his eyes widening slightly at the sword Sesshomaru held. It was a stupid question, since it, quite obviously, was, but, considering how long the blade had been missing, it was really not all that surprising that the dog would want it confirmed with words.
‘Tetsusaiga? Yes, it is.’ Sesshomaru said simply. ‘The half-breed was wielding it at me.’ Sesshomaru paused for a moment, and then looked up to lock eyes with his father. ‘He managed to tap into the power of the Wind Scar.’
A short silence.
‘I see...’ Inu Taisho said, sitting back in his chair. ‘Yes, I can understand now why you captured him.’ He looked up at his son. ‘We shall have to inquire to the hanyou about this.’ He said shortly, his face still betraying faint traces of the awe that had been there before. ‘In the meantime he shall stay with us.’
Izayoi barely held back her smile.
This was good.
Everything that had happened so far fit in so well with the prophecy... and she hardly wanted her son’s mate killed before they ever learned if it truly was him.
‘Perhaps, koi, since the hanyou will be staying awhile, we should move him to more comfortable quarters?’ Izayoi suggested.
Inu Taisho frowned. ‘He is a prisoner, Izayoi, not a guest.’ The dog said slowly, eyeing his mate with slight displeasure.
Izayoi barely suppressed a small noise of exasperation as she moved around to stand beside him.
‘And do you honestly think he’ll answer anything you say from behind the bars of a dungeon?’ She countered, touching a hand to his shoulder lightly. ‘He is a prisoner either way. This will simply make him more comfortable.’
‘Or more suspicious.’ The Inu muttered, but it was obvious by the expression on his face and the tone of his voice that he had given in. After all, he had had arguments similar to this with his mate before, and he had never won. Why would that change now? Izayoi mentally declared victory.
‘I’ll have a room prepared for him.’ She said, letting her hand linger on his shoulder a moment more before she bowed and exited the room.
Once outside with the barrier of the door safely in place between them, she paused and grinned to herself.
Despite their harsh and cold fronts, she knew that both her husband and her son had soft spots inside of them.
She had found her husbands. Now if she could only unlock her son’s everything would be much better... ~*~
Glossary
Inu Taisho - Inuyasha and Sesshomaru’s father (in the anime/manga anyway) Means either Dog General or Lord of the Dogs. Either way, it’s not his real name, but until I have a confirmation that “Toga” is, I’m gonna keep calling him this.
Hanyou - Half-Demon
Izayoi - Well, in the series she’s the human part of Inuyasha’s heritage and a princess. In this story she’s Sesshomaru’s mother and an Inuyoukai just like him and I don’t think has any real relation to Inuyasha t all.
Inu - Dog
Kumo - Spider
Koi - Love ~*~
A/N: Well, that’s the chapter. Hopefully it didn’t ruin the story later on... ^_^
