~~Chapter 5: Beautiful~~

After a very pleasant lunch, InuYasha suggested they go around the city.

“Are you crazy? My sensei would kill me if I just left the trip!”

InuYasha snorted, putting his car in `reverse' as he stepped on the gas to leave the restaurant's parking lot. “Feh! I could just call Kagura and have her make something up for us. She would have no problem you know…” He glanced at her when he started forward towards the streets of Tokyo. She looked hesitant. “Doesn't it sound tempting in the least?”

`He's giving you a puppy-look, Kagome.' Kagome blinked as she stared at his honey eyes. She sighed. `Can't resist his eyes?'

She frowned. `Apparently not.' “Okay…but only this one time. Besides, Morikami-san, spending time with you sounds much more appealing than school.”

InuYasha chuckled. “Is that the only reason?”

Kagome shrugged. “Would you really like to know?”

“I think I would…”

She rolled her eyes. `Like putty in his hands….'

InuYasha did call Kagura and informed her that he took Kagome away. The wind-sorceress had yelled at him for a whole three minutes before agreeing to tell Sesshoumaru to explain to the head-mistress that Kagome was interviewing with Kagura. InuYasha had held the phone away from him as Kagura yelled in to it. Kagome had giggled softly. After careful consideration, Kagome had decided she would like to go to the brand new mall Tokyo opened only four days ago.

“Really? Should've expected that from a girl.”

Kagome frowned. “If you don't want to go, it's okay. I'm not ma---”

He snorted. “I haven't been there either. Might as well. It doesn't bother me, Kagome. Really.”

“Oh! Look at this!”

InuYasha glanced up from the book he had been leafing through to see Kagome holding up a colorful covered book. “What the hell is that?”

Kagome giggled. “It's a scrapbook, silly. You put pictures in it. Like an album, only much neater.”

InuYasha dropped the book back on the shelf before strolling towards Kagome. “Oh? You really need one?”

Kagome shrugged. “I have pictures lying around. Maybe I should get this one. It's pretty isn't it?”

InuYasha stared at the large scrapbook in Kagome's hands. The front was hard-covered, a black color on it with gold and silver designs around it and a space in the middle to put a picture in it.

“The pages are black to?” He asked as he picked up the book. She blinked.

“No, the pages are white and see? This one even comes with stickers here and picture holders.” Kagome pointed to the plastic pouch the length of the book sitting neatly between the cover and the first page.

“Alright,” He allowed, taking the book with him and walking towards the cash register of the large bookstore.

“Wait!” She ran after him, grabbing his arm. “I-I can get it. Y-You don't need to pay for it.”

He snorted. “I want to, Kagome.”

She looked confused. “Why?”

“Because,” He gulped, looking down at her. “I-I just do. Just let me, okay? It'll take a helluva lot more to break my bank account.”

“Okay,” She grudgingly agreed. Satisfied with her approval, he paid for the book and a few other little trinkets to add to it that he picked off the shelves.

“So, where off to next?” He whispered behind her, his breath puffing in her ear. She shivered.

“Wh-Wherever you want to go. We've already looked around.” She blinked quickly, trying to not think about how close to her he was. He nodded.
“Okay then. Come on, I'd like to take you somewhere by my house.”

She allowed him to take her hand and lead her away from the very beautiful mall.

She grinned. `Kagome, I really like him…'

Kagome looked at him, looked at the way his long silver hair moved with a certain lethargic elegance that astounded her. `Yeah…me too.'

`I know there's something going on between Kagome and that bastard.'

Hojo glared at the Taishou Inc building growing smaller as the bus moved away from it. Inutaisho Sesshoumaru had informed the head mistress his wife wanted to talk to Kagome about her design sketches. The head mistress, knowing about Kagome's talent, had gushed over the fact that Kagura Inutaisho had noticed. With Sesshoumaru's assurance Kagome would be returned home safely and he would drop her off personally, the head mistress of the school had no qualms about leaving Kagome in Taishou Inc.

Of course, Hojo didn't buy that for a second. Kagura Inutaisho had been no where near Kagome when he had walked in to Morikami's office. On the contraire, Kagome had seemed flushed and too close to Morikami for his liking. Hojo couldn't believe Morikami had, had the audacity of holding Kagome's hand. He had seen the man holding her and Kagome jumping back when he had said InuYasha's name.

`She's with him. I know it! That little two-timing tramp…'

Curse Kagome's luck. Hojo wasn't the most tolerating person on the planet. Actually, there was very few things he did tolerate. When he wanted something, he got it. He had wanted Kagome and chased after her for eight months before she actually agreed to be his girlfriend. He thought Kagome hadn't had the bones to defy him when he chose everything and dragged her along. Lately though, Kagome was talking back, and she had the impudence to slap him across his face.

Of course he hadn't forgotten. The problem was, he hadn't had Kagome to himself since Saturday. Therefore, he couldn't punish her for daring to raise her hand against him. `You'll see Kagome…you'll be just like Mother. Obedient, loyal, and never questioning me.'

He had seen the way Kagome glanced at InuYasha Morikami while he was on stage, her eyes saying what she didn't voice. Her staring at him; like he could do anything in the world. `When did Kagome get so defiant? She never questioned you. She was like a little puppy, just following its master.'

`Damn straight she was. Of course, until he showed up to lecture. I don't know how Morikami has a role to play in Kagome's attitude, but he does…and I intend to remind Kagome just exactly who she belongs to.'

Mind set, Hojo just needed a way to grab Kagome by herself…

This is your house?” Kagome gaped at the mansion InuYasha was driving towards. Golden gates were in front of the house. He pressed a button near the radio and the two golden gates opened up. He drove in and pressed the button again to close the gates.

“Yep.”

“And you live here by yourself?”

He nodded. “Yeah. When I built it, I was kinda hoping I had my wife by now.” He grumbled. Kagome was supposed to be living there with him already. She was supposed to be with him when the well disappeared, she was supposed to be with him from five-hundred years ago.

`But…since fate hates me, now I gotta do this all over again! Her mind forgot me, but had her heart? I know I still an effect on her…that's about it though.'

“Why haven't you gotten married?”

He shrugged. “Haven't found the right woman yet.” He sighed.

When they had left the mall, they went in to the forest and towards a clearing. They had sat by the pond and just talked. InuYasha let a few things slide about Shippo, someone he told her that he cared for like a son. The name hadn't struck a bell in Kagome's mind. Neither had `Kouga' or `Ayame' or `Shiori' or even `Miroku'. Nothing.

He told her he used to have a very close friend named Miroku and he had been a lecher. She had only giggled. When he mentioned his friend had married a woman named Sango, who he had rubbed her ass countless times, she had laughed. But he hadn't sensed anything. It was like he was telling her things she never heard before. `She really did forget.'

`Or maybe the Shikon Jewel had just locked away her memories so securely, you're going to have to work like hell to get her to even remember the kotodama rosary she makes you eat dirt with.'

He shuddered as he stepped out of his car. Kagome looked around the garden and let her eyes roam the outside of the mansion. “Big house. You want to have a big family?”

He nodded. “Of course.” `I've been lonely all my life, only two years are filled with happiness with you, Kagome. Another five-hundred are lonely again.'

He opened the front door and let her inside. She bit her lip as she looked around. The semi-spiral staircase was a few yards in front of her. To her left, she could tell it was the living room. The floor looked like marble and the colors of his house were extravagant. She bit her lip. “So, you going to give me the grand tour?”

He grabbed her hand. “As you wish.”

She giggled as she lead her in to the living room. He had large windows there and a few feet in front, leather couches. After seeing the many things in the living room, he led her into a very large kitchen. From there, he told her there were two guest bedrooms on the first floor before leading her through a small hallway and in to the equally fancy dinning room. One more room caught her attention and he said the room wasn't decorated yet because he was saving it. For what?

Kagome hadn't asked as he led her up the stairs. The second floor was purely just rooms. “How many rooms does this place have?”

“Bedrooms, seven. Useless rooms, `bout three.” He stated with a snort. She chuckled.

“Useless rooms?”

He nodded. “Sure. Three empty, useless rooms. One of each floor, basement included.”

Her eyebrows shot up in surprise. Clearly, the second floor had five bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, and one of the `useless' rooms. Only his room was decorated, the rest weren't. “Do you get lonely here?”

He sighed, leaning against the door of his bedroom. “Absolutely.”

She winced, wrapped her arms around his waist. `Does he deserve to be lonely?'

`Of course not. You want to fix it?'

`I don't know. Somehow, I know he's been lonely for a long time.' Kagome sighed when he wrapped his arms around her, rubbing his cheek against her temple. “H-How long?”

He understood her question. He closed his eyes, brought his arm tighter around her as his free up came up to hold her head against his chest. “Too long, Kagome. Much too long.”

`Mine' He youkai blood rumbled. `Mine…mate…make her…our mate.'

Kagome closed her eyes against him. `Mate' a very deep low mumbled against her. She felt something warm flow through her body, frenzying her senses more.

`No more…no more.' A little voice in her head chanted. She held herself on his shoulders as she leaned on her toes to reach him. “InuYasha…”

He dipped his head towards her, eye sparkling with something Kagome didn't understand. “K-Kagome.” He murmured, trying to reach her half way. His arms tightened, she pressed her body tighter against his.

`Our mate'

`No more…no more loneliness.'

A sudden vibration shocked Kagome as she blinked. It was against her chest, coming from his chest. InuYasha blinked before realizing it was his cell phone. He snarled, dropped his arms away from Kagome as he reached in to his front pocket to dig out the phone. Kouga's name appeared on the LCD screen and InuYasha snarled.

“What the fuck do you want, damnit?” InuYasha growled---loudly. `Twice in one day? Damn, next time I'll just fucking kiss her! Double damned wolf and that little bastard from earlier.'

Kouga snickered. “Did I interrupt something?”

InuYasha snorted. “Damn right you did. Now what the hell do you want?”

“Actually, I was just calling you because Kagome left her portfolio on your desk. Thought she might want it.”

“Feh!” He flipped his cell phone and glared at it. `I fucking hate him and this phone.'

Kagome tried to control her raging body. `What the? What was that? That voice.'

`I don't know. Wasn't mine…it was something else. Like…I don't know.'

`Rats, my luck sucks.'

`Yeah it does! Seriously, he's tried to kiss you twice today and twice someone interrupts. Talk about bad luck. Maybe next time you should just grab him and kiss him, I'm sure he wouldn't mind.'

Kagome felt her face shoot up in flames. `Like I'd really jump on him. I'd be embarrassed to death!'

`Where's your feral side Kagome?'

Kagome scowled. “Come on. You left your portfolio in my office. We should go get it.”

Kagome followed InuYasha down the stairs. The car ride to Taishou Inc was quiet. None of them dared to break the silence between them. Finally, when they got there, InuYasha sighed. “Stay here. I'll go up and get it and then drop you home.”

“Okay.” She agreed easily. It only took a mere five minutes to go up, grab the portfolio, smack Kouga, and come back down.

`I swear, I'll kill him!'

`Right. Anyway, try to kiss quickly next time…since apparently everything is against you kissing your mate.'

His grip tightened on the steering wheel. `Damn.'

“I-I live at the shrine…” Kagome blurted out, a dusty pink touching her cheeks. He nodded once.

`I know where you live. Feh! Like I'd forget.' InuYasha sighed. He didn't have a right to be irritated. This Kagome didn't know him, this Kagome didn't know what they did together, the adventures they shared…the way she fell in love with him and him with her. This Kagome…she just didn't know. It wasn't her fault.

`Feh! It was her fault. She used the jewel to forget.'

`Why do you think that? She thought you were going off with Kikyou all the time…since you never bothered to explain why exactly you weren't around.'

`Feh!'

He stopped in front of the shrine and Kagome played with the hem of her green uniform skirt a few seconds before taking a deep breath. “W-Would you like to come in? I-I'm sure Mama wouldn't mind a guest.”

He grinned. “I'd love to, Kagome.”

He smoothed away her raven-black hair from her face before getting out of his car. She took his hand, led him up the seemingly endless stairs to the shrine. Once there, she dropped her portfolio on the couch before leading him in to the kitchen.

“Mama?”

Mrs. Higurashi turned around at the sound of her daughter's voice. “Kagome! How was the trip, dear?”

Kagome kissed her mother's cheek. “Mama, I brought a friend over.”

Mrs. Higurashi's gaze landed on InuYasha, who had his hands in his pockets. “Hello.”

“This is InuYasha Morikami.” Kagome introduced. Her mother gave him a curt nod and he returned it with a bow.

“Thank you, for having me over.” He said in a quiet voice. `Damn, if Kagome forgot, did her mother forget to?'

`I don't know. Be on your toes though. Just in case.'

Dinner went smoothly. Though it seemed to InuYasha, Mrs. Higurashi and Souta were starring at the top of his head more times than he felt comfortable with. Humans couldn't see through a youkai's concealment spell…

`So why the fuck are they starring at the top of my head?' He took another sip of the water bottle Kagome had handed him. He twitched his right ear and Souta's eyes shot up to his head. `Okay, I wasn't imagining anything. He looked up when they twitched. C-Can they see my ears?'

“Kagome, why don't you give InuYasha a tour of the house while I clean up. Souta, darling, help your grandfather to his room.”

Kagome jerked her head, motioning InuYasha to come with her. After a thorough tour of the house, which he already knew, she made it to her room. “This is my room.” She stated before opening the door.

`I know it's your room.' He sighed, going inside. His own scent assailed his nostrils. The fresh scent of the time he'd been in her room before she closed the well. `M-My scent…five-hundred years ago. The last time I was here…'

“Feh! Come on Kagome, we're going to be late.”

Kagome huffed, throwing cups of ramen in to her yellow bag. “I'm going as fast as I can. You'd do well if you learned some patience, dog-boy.”

He snorted, lying down on her bed again, popping his cheek on his open palm. “I gave you three days to be here. Should've used `em to prepare your monstrosity.”

“InuYasha, be quiet.”

“Oi, you can't tell me to `be quiet'! Now hurry up, I've got stuff to do.”

Kagome shot him a dark glare. “Oswuari!”

“InuYasha?”

Kagome's soft voice broke through his train of memories. He blinked to dispel the reminiscence before glancing at her. “Yeah?”

“I said, if you'd like to talk about something.” She sat on the edge of her bed, looking at him through her bangs. He sat besides her.

“Not particularly. Just thinking is all.”

Solemn eyes stared at him, eyes that had stared at him when he had been running off building her hut. “About?”

He shrugged. “Just stuff…memories. Things I did wrong.”

“What did you do wrong?” She pressed.

`Be careful' He sighed. “I-I…nothing important.”

“If it hurts you then it is important.”

“I-I just made a few mistakes and well…the consequences weren't something I expected.”

“What did you do?”

`She just wants to know.' “I-I didn't tell someone I loved how I felt…and I lost her.”

Kagome stared at her lap. “Oh…I'm sorry.”

“It's okay. I'm okay now.” He gave her a small smile. `Because you're here with me again.'

He glanced at his watch. “I should go. I've got work tomorrow and I don't want to hear Sesshoumaru's rants early in the morning.”

She shot up. “Okay then. I-I'll go with you…t-to your car anyway.”

“I'd like that.”

He said goodbye to Kagome's mother and her brother. She led him all the way to the stairs before he sighed. `Kami, I want to kiss her.'

`Then do it! Fast before something interrupts!'

He turned towards her. Kagome looked up at him, watched as his arms snaked around her waist to bring her against him. She gasped when his free hand cradled her head and he leaned down towards her. Her eyes fluttered closed, her pulse quickened, and her body cried out for his touch. The shocking feel of his lips upon hers drew a whimper from her. He gently coaxed her mouth open, feathering kisses on the outline of her lips.

`Remember me, Kagome…' His arms tightened around her as her arms cam around his neck. She leaned on her tip toes to reach him better. She sighed against him, opened up to him. He tasted her, ravaged her as their kiss deepened. She tightened her arms, giving herself up to the sensations he brought on her.

“I-Inu…Yasha…” She mumbled between kisses. He didn't relinquish his hold as his mouth claimed hers again. She moaned softly; he growled. His hand teased the skin of her sides. For a second, she thought she felt claws against her. `T-That can't be right…'

`Shh, just focus on kissing him…'

She did just that. She fought against his tongue, running hers along his teeth. She felt him nibble on her bottom lip, felt something graze against her jaw when she let her head fall back for him. Before she could think much of it, he gave her a final sweet kiss before releasing her.

“Goodnight Kagome.” He whispered.

“G-Goodnight.”

He grinned before going down the stairs and in to his car. When the car sped down the street she sat down on the top stair. “Wow” she murmured.

`Who'd'a thought he'd be such a good kisser?'

Kagome swallowed hard, placing her hand over her racing heart. `That was…'

`Amazing? Wonderful? Beautiful? Mind blo---'

Kagome giggled. `All of the above.'

`Oh, most definitely.'

She touched her lips, a wide smile spreading across her face. Dazed, she went back in to the house and got ready for bed. Once she was under her covers, she bit her lip. She could feel his mouth against hers, his breath against her, his body. She sighed, closing her eyes.

`Sleep well my beautiful Kagome.'

`I-I will…I-Inu---'

Dream state took over as her consciousness left her. `---Yasha'
