Promises and Discoveries

Summary: Inuyasha and Kagome are in high school together, the perfect relationship ever. Inuyasha gets an offer to study at the best school in the world, literally. Kagome wishes him the best of luck and promises to await his return. After a month Inuyasha moves without telling her, leaving her with a secret. Four Years later he returns with a fiancé. How will she react? Will she tell him her secret? Or will he be kept in the dark about his own son?

 

A/N: There is another story that will be coming by gbanshee2005 I believe, not to be confused. She started hers awhile back but hasn't posted yet. SHE DID NOT GET THE IDEA FROM ME! Just to make that clear. Thanks all!

 

 

 

 

“Last call for flight 1189 service to Germany, now boarding.” The woman called over the speaker in the crowded airport terminal. Inuyasha looked from the lady to Kagome reaching up with his hand to brush her cheek with his thumb.

 

“Oh Inuyasha, I'm going to miss you so much.” Kagome said letting a few tears fall. He smiled and embraced her with his free arm.

 

“Don't worry I should be home in about three years. It will go by fast just you wait.” He whispered. Pulling back he kissed her lightly.

 

“I promise Inuyasha, I will wait for you to return.” She whispered.

 

“I will return soon love.” He said assuringly squeezing her hand and not letting go until they were to far apart to reach and walked down the ramp not looking back. Kagome would never forget that day. Watching the back of his head slowly slip away from her. It constantly wandered in and out of her mind for the weeks that she sat by her telephone and watched it pathetically hoping he would call soon. For the first two weeks he called constantly, every hour it seemed. Since then he seemed more distant. She had gotten ill with what she thought was the flu and wanted nothing more then to talk to him, even though he insisted she rest. She had a doctor appointment two days from now, since the symptoms had just worsened. Now Kagome only heard from him once a week if she was lucky. He assured her school was tough and he had a hard time getting free time. She understood and didn't hold it against him at all. Still she selfishly prayed he would call more.

Kagome sighed as she sat on the table in the doctor's room watching her feet swinging as she waited for him to return. They did a couple of tests and she had been sitting there for about an hour now waiting. Her thoughts drifted to the day they said goodbye. It was now about a month and a half and she hadn't heard from him yet this week. The door opening brought her back.

 

“Hello Kagome, I have your results here.” The doctor said holding up a folder. Kagome smiled a little and nodded.

 

“So what is the verdict doc?” She sighed.

 

“Well congratulations Kagome, You're pregnant.” He said happily. Kagome stared in shock.

 

“What? How…”

 

“You're about a month and a half, you should be due around the beginning of summer. If you have any questions see the front desk.” He said happily and left the room to her own thoughts. (nice doc huh? Just ditches) Kagome didn't know weather to be happy or sad. She would have to get another job and finish as much school as she could, maybe even home school. What would she tell Inuyasha? What would she tell Sango? God, what would she even tell her own mother? Putting on her jacket she went up to the front desk and paid the small amount due before getting on the bus to go back to her apartment. She stood holding onto the handles as the bus neared her stop. `How did this happen? Well I know HOW but still. Should I tell Inuyasha? No, I mean he has a good thing going for him, he can still attend college, I don't want to ruin that for him. But he IS still the father and deserves to know. I have to tell him, after I talk to my mom. OH God…how am I going to tell him?'. Reaching home she closed the door behind her and leaned against it. She already had saved up some, Inuyasha might be able to come out and see her and the baby in the summer. She walked over to the phone and dialed his number. It rang 7 times before going to the voice mail.

 

“Hey Inuyasha it's me Kagome, call me when you get this message.” She said quietly and put down the phone. She didn't know how she would tell her mother. She knew she wanted to have grandkids, but she didn't know how she would take it with her daughter being18. Kagome waited by the phone into the night, never leaving it. Her chin laid on the cold hard wood, just watching the black object, waiting.

A week passed and he had failed to call her, despite her calling him every night. Her mother didn't take it as well as she had hoped either.

“Hello?” Her mother's voice sounded from the other side of the phone.

 

“Hi mom, its me, Kagome.” She said shakily.

 

“Oh hello, Kagome how are you?” Her voice sounded sweetly happy, like always. Kagome took a deep breath.

 

“Mom, I'm pregnant.” She said softly wanting to get it over with as soon as possible.

 

“Kagome… how could you disgrace your family's name like this?” Her mother sighed.

 

“Mom, please it wasn't my intention to end up…”

 

“Is the father there with you?” She interrupted.

 

“No…” She said sadly.

 

“Don't call here again, I no longer have a daughter.” Her mother said hanging up the phone. Kagome looked at the phone as it shook in her hand beeping. Tears streamed down her face as she buried her face in her arms. She was alone for the next 9 months.

She had lost many of her friends when they found out she was pregnant. The only one who stayed was her friends Sango and Miroku. For that she was thankful. Sango had always been there, and even wanted to help with the baby. Weeks passed by and every day that passed Kagome's heart grew heavier. When she was three months along she knew in her heart he was not going to call her back so she stopped trying. She felt like she had been tricked by a handsome face. His words meant nothing. Nothing at all. Sango moved into the apartment with her and helped with the bills and homework. For what she lost, she gained in her best friend, Sango.
