Chapter 6: When you wish upon a star

 

Kagome was standing in front of the mirror fixing her hair. When she finally thought it looked great, she walked out to the living room. Kouga once again, was sitting on the couch but with a beer.

 

“ Where you going now?” Kouga asked.

 

“ I um, need to go back to Sango's. Yeah! She's having relationship problems with Miroku.” Kagome replied.

 

“ Knew she work out with a perv like him.”

 

Kagome started to fake laugh. “You're funny. Yeah well um gottagobye!” Kagome ran out the door.

 

“ Bye?” Kouga said. What's up with her?

Kagome walked down the sidewalk. It was warm outside and had a slight breeze. The only sound was from the cars driving by and the leaves on the trees rustling. She finally arrived at the park but the only man sitting on the bench had black hair. She looked up at the sky. The stars shone like diamonds yet there was no moon. Oh right. Well even though he's a human doesn't mean I can't have fun.

 

Kagome walked up and tapped the man on the shoulder, “ Excuse me sir, can you help me? I'm trying to find my friend but I don't see him anywhere.”

 

Inuyasha turned around to see a young lady smirking at him. He'll play along. “ Well I can't say that I have. Can you describe him? Is he, I don't know, really sexy?”

 

Kagome giggled. “ Oh he's good-looking, but he's kind of dumb, and a little stubborn.”

 

“ Hey! I-“ Inuyasha looked at Kagome's smirk grow, “ don't think you should treat your friend like that. It might insult him.”

 

Kagome sat next to him. “ Well it's all true. But what I love about him is his little dog ears!”

 

“ They are not adorable!” Inuyasha yelled.

 

“ I never said they were.”

 

Inuyasha looked down. “ Sorry I'm kinda used to it.” He rubbed the back of his neck.

 

“ But they are! And I miss them!” Kagome whined.

 

“ No they're not!”

 

“ Yes they are!”

 

“ No they're not!”

 

“ Yes they are!”

 

“ No!”

“ Yes!”

“ NO!”

“ YES!”

 

“ You know what? I'm gonna give you a five second head start.” Inuyasha crossed his arms and started counting.

 

“ For what?”

 

“ 5…4…”

 

Kagome crossed her arms with a raised eyebrow. “ Oh please, you don't scare me.”

 

“ 3…2…”

 

“ You're not serious.”

 

“ 1…”

 

“ BYE!” Kagome ran to the forest of trees.

 

“ I'm gonna get you Kagome!” Inuyasha yelled and ran after her.

 

Kagome was breathing hard running through the large amount of trees. She had no idea where she was going or if Inuyasha was catching up to her. But she wasn't going to stop and ask for directions. Finally she stopped at the edge of a hill. She looked around. No sign of him. Suddenly she felt something lunge and tackle her. They started rolling down the hill until they hit the bottom.

 

Inuyasha was on top of her looking down. “ Tag you're it.”

 

Kagome coughed. “ God you're heavy. Get off of me!”

 

“ Sorry.” He climbed off of her and sat cross-legged. Kagome sat up and pinned him down. Her hands were on his forearms. She took a hand off and tapped him on the nose with her finger.

 

“ Tag. You're it!” She started laughing.

 

“ Cheater!”

 

“ Expect the unexpected, SUCKER!” She climbed off. He sat up.

 

“ You're pretty strong.” He started rubbing his arm.

 

“ No, you're kind of weak.”

 

“ Hey! I'm a human right now! It's not my fault!”

 

Kagome waved her hand. “ Excuses, excuses. For one I'm a human, and I just pinned you. Second, you've got the reflexes of a rock. You should've been able to block me. However, I've got the reflexes of a cat.”

 

“ Oh really?” Inuyasha lunged his arm at her. Kagome, without even looking at it, caught it and twisted it.

 

“ Ow, ow.” Inuyasha said. Kagome let go.

 

“ Pathetic.”

 

“ Whatever.” Inuyasha laid down. Kagome laid down about two feet away from him. They stared at the sky for a few minutes. Then, they saw something shoot by.

 

“ A shooting star!” She looked over at him. “ Make a wish.”

 

“ I don't believe in that stuff.”

 

“ Fine be that way then.” Kagome closed her eyes and tried to make a wish but…

 

Inuyasha had two hands around Kagome's waist. Kagome had one hand on his shoulder and the other around his neck. Their faces got closer and closer. Their lips were just about to touch and…

Kagome snapped her eyes open. She saw Inuyasha an inch away from her face and Kagome screamed. She sat up only to see Inuyasha on his back laughing.

 

“ That wasn't funny!” Kagome shouted. She put her head in her hands. What was that dream about?

 

“ Oh, I'm sorry. Were you dreaming about your boyfriend?”

 

Kagome looked at him. “ Maybe.”

 

“ Ugh. How can you stand him?”

 

“ Well when we met, he wouldn't stop complementing me.”

 

“ So?”

 

“ We went out for awhile and then… he told me he loved me.”

 

“ Awww.” Inuyasha said sarcastically.

 

“ You don't have a romantic bone in your body!”

 

“ I do, I'm just saving it.”

 

“ For `the one'?” Kagome put her hands over her heart.

 

“ Yeah. I thought Kikyo would be the one.”

 

“ What happened?” Kagome scooted closer to him.

 

Inuyasha shrugged. “ She was cheating on me.”

 

“ Wow. I'm sorry.”

 

He looked at Kagome. “ It's okay. I always kind of expected it.”

 

“ So why didn't you break it off sooner?”

 

“ I asked myself the same question. I guessed… I loved her. And couldn't except the fact that, you know, she would do that.”

 

“ Are you okay now?”

 

“ Yeah. I'm fine. But sometimes it kind of hurts.”

 

“ It should. I don't know what I'd do if Kouga ever cheated on me.” She paused. “You're a deep guy aren't you?”

 

“ Just tonight. It's these damn human feelings. I feel really weird.”

 

“ Are you gonna cry?”

 

“ I don't have that many feelings.” Inuyasha laughed. Kagome smiled and looked forward. She had a surprised look on her face.

 

“ Hey, did you ever that lake there?” Kagome pointed. Inuyasha looked and got the same look on his face.

 

“ No. Well aren't we smart?” Inuyasha scratched his head.

 

Kagome turned her head sideways, “ Apparently.”

 

The lake was slightly big. It had long grass stems with the brown oval shaped at the ends. (I have no idea what they're called. But I hope you know what I mean.) There were little purple flowers at some of the edges. The sky's reflection was on the water. The water was calm and barley moving at all. The scene made the mood romantic.

 

 

Kagome turned to Inuyasha as he did the same. Kagome smiled and Inuyasha made a slight grin. They stared into each other eyes.
