Later that night Miroku sat in the living room preparing more scrolls just in case he needed them to keep the demons away.

Miroku sighed as he looked over to Sango. "She's gone to look for him. You know that, right?"

"Yep." Sango looked up at him and smirked. "Did you ever have any doubt that she would?"

He shook his head. "Nope, not really."

Kagome carefully pried open the windows. She looked from side to side and then leapt down scuttering down the gutter. She leapt down onto the grass and darted across the yard and into the forest.

Inu Yasha sat in a tree high above the ground near the out skirts of town. "Damn women ain't nothing but trouble . "He muttered as he cleaned his wounds.

Kagome raced through the woods getting cut by stray branches and twigs. She sniffed the air carefully following the hanyou's scent. Finally she caught a strong line of it and followed it until she stumbled upon his hiding spot. She spied on him from up in his tree a few branches above him, silent as a crow.

"Wench, what ever trouble you're bringing me you can take it back home with you," he growled out as he cleaned his cut "'Cause I'm not in the mood right now, and you should learn to hide up wind instead of down wind."

The girl jumped down onto the branch beside him. "Shut your trap and listen up. Next time you lock me in a fucking house after you just meet me, just because I go into heat, I'll wring your hanyou ass neck and use your guts for garters," she growled.

Inu Yasha growled. "Bitch, back the fuck up and know your place before I shut your mouth for you. What I did was for your own good and you know it!"

She slammed her claws into the trunk beside his head shattering bark for yards around. "And your place is in the muddy grave, yet I have been kind enough not to put you there, so show the same respect and return the favour!" She screamed infuriated.

Inu Yasha snarled at her and leapt down from the tree. "Yeah, well who cares..." he said as he walked into the forest.

The girl leapt down from the tree and tackled him to the ground, rolling for a few feet before pinning him and growling in his face. "Don't walk away from me!"

Inu Yasha reached up and grabbed her by the neck and threw her off of him "Stay away from me!" He snapped back. "And keep your claws to yourself!" Inu Yasha got up to his feet and dusted himself off.

Kagome flung back into one of the trees and a loud snapping sound was heard, like a branch over someone's knee what cracked. Kagome screamed as she felt her spine snap in two-- at least that's what it felt like. She fell into a crumpled heap on the ground and slowly drug herself onto her knees shuddering from the pain.

A flicker of shock flashed in the hanyou's eyes as he walked over to her. "Kagome, I didn't mean to hurt you I just...I just wanted you to go home…" he said as he knelt down next to her.

She whimpered in heavy pain. "Yeah, I'm sure," she said trying to laugh it off but only crying out in pain.

Inu Yasha growled as he picked her up. "You should have stayed home like I told you to."

"You shouldn't have run off like an asshole," she grunted out.

"Well excuse me," he snapped back. "Then you shouldn't have gone into heat then."

"Well I'll try to control it next time!" She snapped. She cringed in agony, grabbing a fistful of his hair, and squinting her eyes shut.

Inu Yasha carried her towards the house only to be thrown back by Miroku's scrolls. He landed on his back with Kagome in his arms and groaned. "God damn that Miroku and his fucking sutras."

Kagome groaned as he hit the ground and nestled against Inu Yasha's chest. "Don't get up, I don't want to go past those sutras again," she whimpered in pain.

Inu Yasha sat up and sat her down next to him as he saw Miroku walk out the front door. "Well, I know my sutras work if they can keep you out, Inu Yasha," he said as he started pulling them down. "Even though they won't work on you tomorrow night," Miroku said as he pocketed the small paper scrolls.

Kagome glanced up at Miroku and winced in pain. "You make me cringe," she grumbled deliriously.

Miroku raised a brow. "And you make me want to put a sutra on you so you can stay out of trouble my dear lady." Inu Yasha stood up and looked at the sky realizing what Miroku was talking about. "Well tomorrow after sunset no one leaves this house, and Miroku I want you to put up your most powerful sutras," he said as his eyes moved from the sky to his friend.

"You got it Inu Yasha."

Kagome pulled on Inu Yasha's pants and pointed to the house, cringing in pain. "Please take me inside, Inu Yasha," she requested.

Inu Yasha knelt down and picked her up. "You should be healed by now since you'refullyoukai,"h e said as he carried her to the house with Miroku in tow.

She grinned wide. "Well...I'm just lazy. And I like the royal treatment." She wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing his cheek.

Inu Yasha scowled as he walked into the living room and dumped her off onto the couch, none to gently. "Your throne your highness," he said snidely as he walked to the stairs. "I'm going to bed, night."

She pouted to him. "Well, why won't you take me with you?"

"I sleep alone," he stated as he climbed the stairs to his room.

Miroku looked over to Sango. "Care to keep me company in bed my dear Sango?" he asked.

"Debatable...but no," Sango said sarcastically.

Miroku mocked a hurt expression. "That cuts deeply, Sango."

"So does a well crafted blade. But you wouldn't wanna sleep with that, lest it cut your dick off, would ya?" Sango said, waving him a ahnd of dismissal.

Miroku rolled his eyes and headed upstairs. "Sango your no fun,"he muttered as he entered his room.

Sango snickered and turned to Kagome. "Look at you, Miss Queen. You got Inu Yasha to carry you all the way in to the couch this time. An improvement shall we mark it as?"

Kagome smiled happily. "Of course."

Inu Yasha sat in the window looking at the sky as Miroku walked in. "What'sbugging you?" Miroku asked. "Nothing, did Sango hit you again or are you just up here to snoop?" the hanyou asked dully. Miroku shrugged. "Neither just tired."

Inu Yasha growled "Miroku do me a favor."

His friend looked at him with concern. "What's that?" he asked. Inu Yasha looked to the door. "Go stay with Kagome and close me up in this room till tomorrow night."

Kagome sighed and leaned back against the couch and stared up at the ceiling trying to figure out what the hell possessed her the past couple hours to act the way she had. She curled up on the couch and closed her eyes, listening to the sounds of the male demons rooting around outside of Miroku's sutras, desperate to get to the heart of the smell of Kagome's heat.

Kagome sighed and shucked out of her outer layer of clothes settling down on the floor into a nice bed of a sheet and a pillow of her clothes. She breathed in the scent of the woods and closed her eyes, relaxing. Her back was still sore, from not fully healing. She was a slow healing because of her secret. A secret she shared with no one. A secret, that could get her killed.

Miroku put a sutra on the window and on the door as his friend requested. "I will do as you ask Inu Yasha rest well," he said as he walked out of the room and down stairs.

The next morning as light filtered through the creaking old mansion Kagome awoke to something absently stroking her bottom; and all was quiet until it was shattered by a shriek of "Lecher!!!!!" and a great smacking sound of flesh against flesh followed it.

Miroku held his cheek. "But Sango there was a spider on your bottom, I swear!"

Kagome snarled at him. "One, I'm not Sango. Two! There are no spiders in this house due to that damn cat demon you brought with you!"

Miroku blinked and then rubbed his eyes. "Sorry, Kagome. I must have been dreaming and sleep walking."

The girl glowered at him. "I'm sure. I'd be safer sleeping in a pit of snakes."

"I honestly am sorry," Miroku said in self defense. "I didn't mean to."

Kagome huffed. "Honestly, I'm more miffed about the thousands coming running to my rescue."

"What do you mean Kagome?" He asked as he sat down in a chair.

She waved her arms about. "Do you see the army of millions pointing guns at you defending my virtue at the moment?"

Miroku smirked. "Referring to your white knight Inu Yasha?" he asked.

"Who is non-exisistant?"

"Who is held up in his room by sutras by his request," Miroku stated.

Her eyes flew open. "Nani?!?! What the hell for?" She flew over the couch and raced up the stairs.

Miroku raced up after her. "Don't touch them, Kagome. They are my most powerful ones!" he yelled out in warning.

Kagome, not paying attention, reached for the nearest one, and with out realizing what she was revealing, pealed off the seal and flung open the door, and raced into the room. "Inu Yasha are you ok!?" she demanded.

Inu Yasha looked over at her and growled. "How the hell?! Miroku, why did you pull off the sutra?!" He yelled. Miroku stood there in awe. "I didn't, Kagome did."

Kagome froze where she stood and stared at the hanyou in front of her for a moment trying to figure out how to explain herself.

"Kagome," Inu Yasha said as he looked at her. "You're a half breed aren't you?"

Her eyes flicked between Miroku and Inu Yasha, darting from hanyou to man, before she bolted from her spot.

Inu Yasha ran after her and caught her by the arm "Answer me!" he demanded.

The girl winced and looked up at him, her eyes wide with fear. Her whole body trembled and her silver eyes seemed too be completely that, void of the ebony pupil. It was a long time before she nodded her consent. "I'm half Relic."

Inu Yasha froze and let go of her arm. "Your half relic?" he asked as he stared at her.

She nodded and pulled back, looking up at him. "The priestess before me was the priestess of the hanyou who would have save the world had she not been slaughtered." Kagome looked down. "I would have inherited that role if my mother would have not have bred with a demon." She looked sternly up at him. "But I have no regrets! I have lived fine, but kill me if you think you can!"

Inu Yasha looked shocked. "Why would I kill you? You're the same as me! I would be no better than the demons that seek to kill me for being a half breed."

Kagome looked up at him. "So ... you ... don't think I'm disgusting?" she asked in disbelief quietly. Even hanyou's, people of her own breed had thought a relic and a demon mix had been an abomination beyond compare. They were two complete and total opposite breeds, who were always out to obliterate the other, and she was a creature in which the two, a priestess and a devil could coexist peacefully.

"What you are what you are. Our blood is our destiny, not our choice and I think no less of you." Inu Yasha said.

Kagome looked at him for a moment and within that moment; she felt strength of bonding she had never felt with anyone. Not with shippou, or her mother before she had died, or her father before he disappeared. Certainly not with Kouga. Kagome's silver eyes met Inu Yasha's golden ones and held them fast. "I understand. Thank you," she said quietly.

Miroku cleared his throat and Inu Yasha's ears flattened back against his head "Damn I forgot he was back there," thehanyou growled out.

"But,Inu,I'm glad I was,I never knew you could be so insightful," Miroku said with a big grin on his face.

Inu Yasha rolled his eyes and walked towards the kitchen."As long as I have been walking around,I hopeI would have learned something,"He shot back.

Kagome smiled at Miroku suddenly. "Miroku, do you want me to show you the room with all of my mother's scrolls? She was a very powerful miko."

Miroku nodded. "Yes, maybe I can use some of the ones she had for tonight." He said as he watched Inu Yasha retreat into the kitchen.

Kagome smiled and lead Miroku down the hall out of the room.

Miroku followed Kagome while Inu Yasha raided the fridge chanting. "Food, food, food," and twitching his ears as he rummaged through all the food.

Kagome pounced down the stairs in a red and white miko's robe and giggled twirling around for Inu Yasha. "Whaddya think?" she asked. "This was the robe my family had already prepared for me but then they found out I was part demon. I wonder what Kikyou was like..." she said pausing and leaning against the counter in a day dreaming state.

Inu Yasha froze in mid bite of his snack. "Kikyou?..." His golden eyes looked over at her.

She nodded smiling and turned over leaning back against the counter, looking up at the ceiling. "It's the name of the miko of legend." She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. "I inherited her soul in my Relic blood when she died and when I was born. I would have fully gained her title had they not discovered momma's sin, but my ear's grew when I was 12, and they cast me out violently," she said bitterly. She looked off towards the side. "That's okay. I like being me anyway."

Suddenly Inu Yasha didn't feel like eating and took his food over to the trash can and threw it away. He stood there with his back to her as he spoke. "So you're her reincarnation?"

The girl scratched her forehead. "Supposedly. I suppose its better that I was cast out at an early age though. I mean, who wants a life of going about slaying their own kind?" she said quietly, staring out the window. "I know I sure don't. I just wish this war would end. I wish I were the miko that joined the hanyou in bringing the gods back together... I wish Shippou had a life to live," she said as a sob escaped her, unbidden. Her hands flew to her face and she slid down the island hunkered down, ashamed of what she had done.

"Did your mother ever tell you of the hanyou that Kikyou was suppose to save the world with?"he asked quietly."I mean before Kikyou died, she was in love with a hanyou, did your mother ever tell you that?"

Kagome calmed herself slowly and then slowly shook her head. "I just know that she steadily brought the God and Goddess back together."

Inu Yasha took a seat on the floor. "The hanyou Kikyou was in love with; the one that helped her, was half dog demon," he said with a sigh. "A cursed abomination that had no control over his demon blood, and was eventually the young miko's down fall."

Kagome looked up at Inu Yasha quietly. "What happened?"

"Like you said, they were bringing everyone together and ending the bloody war but a demon that they trusted stabbed them in the back. He killed the miko while the hanyou was away." Inu Yasha's voice began to crack and he cleared his throat to cover it up. "When the hanyou returned to Kikyou, she had been slaughtered."

A dawning realization covered Kagome as she listened to his story and she reached out and tentatively linked her fingers through his, silently.

Inu Yasha didn't even feel her touch as he kept talking. "If he wouldn't have left that day the war would have long been over,"he said.

The girl studied the hanyou's face. "The war can still be stopped," she said softy.

Inu Yasha smirked. "If you say so, Kagome."

She tightened her fingers around his. "It can!" she insisted. "It nearly happened once! But we have people we trust even more this time right? I just met them, but I already love them! The one I trust the least is Miroku, and that's only with my bath time!" she exclaimed. She pleaded with him with her eyes. "Please, Inu Yasha! This is not just me that want this! It's for Shippou too! For everyone who wants peace; who needs it!"

He shook his head and pulled his from hers. "I will not be the key again and watch another miko die again," Inu Yasha said as he stood up "I cant, I just can't."

Kagome stood up with him and glared at him. "Well, guess what, Mr. Pain in my ass, I just decided on something, and I'm going whether you come with or not. I'm miko and demon enough to do it with out your stupid help!" she said, infuriated, shoving him back. "So, if I die, it's twice your fault!" she swore stomping off to go pack her stuff.

Inu Yasha growled and followed her. "Now you just wait a minute!" he yelled "You're too young and have hardly any training for you miko powers."

Kagome whipped around and turned her palm facing him, sending a ki ball of pink energy toward him, crackling with energy, jerking up at the last possible moment, blowing a huge hole in the wall. Her eyes flashed again. "Wrong again, mutt-face," she snarled, whipping around again.

Inu Yasha growled. "Bitch you could have killed me!!"

Miroku ran towards the sound of the boom. "What the hell is going on?" he asked.

The door to Kagome's official bedroom slammed and some plaster from the hole in the ceiling fell onto Miroku and Inu Yasha's head.

Sango stood in the door way to her room. She examined her nails and arched a brow, having heard everything. "So...when we leaving?"

"I'm not going to lead her into her death!" Inu Yasha yelled.

Miroku blinked. "We have found the key, haven't we? She is the girl to help end the war, isn't she?" he questioned.

"No she's not!" Inu Yasha responded.

Sango rolled her eyes. "Look, Onigumo is dead, believe me, you took care of that quite nicely, he can't kill her."

Inu Yasha growled and kicked open Kagome's door. "You listen here, you little bitch," he said with a snarl. "If your hell bent on doing this, wait till tomorrow night to leave."

Kagome straightened up. "I can't leave tomorrow night!" she snarled back.

"Well I can't leave tonight!" hesnapped back.

She stared at him blankly. "I can't leave tomorrow night because if I stay here tonight Kouga's coming over and going to want to stay. Still want to stay here?"

Inu Yasha growled. "Well I sure as hell can't leave tonight!"

"Oh why the hell not?!" she snapped. "You on the rag?!"

"I lose my powers tonight, miss know it all!" Inu Yasha yelled. "I won't be able to protect anyone!"

Kagome let her breath out with a sudden, "Oh!" Her eyebrows shot up onto her forehead and her puffed her cheeks out. She shrugged for a moment. "Well, so what, I can do the protecting tonight. One demon will suffice instead of two for once."

He huffed. "You couldn't even protect yourself from those weaker demons outside," he said snidely.

Miroku frowned. "One more night here couldn'thurt and we willleave at dawn tomorrow morning,"he said.

Sango growled. "If you think this pleasure trip is going to be male dominated you are sadly mistaken. Start packing. I'm with Kagome. If you have a pussy problem, me and her are on guard tonight."

"Fine, god damn it, do it your way; I don'tcare," Inu Yasha said as he stomped out of the room.

Miroku looked at the girls. "I don't have a problem with women, alright, I was just trying to look out for my friend," he said as he turned and followed Inu Yasha.

Kagome and Sango ducked heads and chattered for a whiled and shuffled through the closet for a while as they came up with a plan.
