Kagome woke up slowly from her deep slumber and looked over to see the source of warmth she felt was a fire that the others had built, and Inu Yasha lay on the other side of it.

Miroku smiled "Feeling better Kagome?"he asked as his friend continued to sleep deeply "I think he is going to be out for a while."

Kagome rubbed her eyes and groaned, looking up at him. "Is he ok?" she whispered.

Miroku nodded "I would suppose so his wounds have closed," he sighed "We will just have to wait for dawn and find out for sure."

The girl looked over to the side and yawned rubbing her eyes. "Ok..."

The young monk poked the fire with a stick to keep it going "Sango has went out on patrol to make sure no one demon or human would come near while you guys were healing."

She sat up and looked over to the sleeping shippou curled up beside her. She smiled and brushed the burnt orange from his forehead. "I just used too much Miko energy...and lost too much blood."

A pair of golden eyes stared down at the group from the tree tops above them .Miroku nodded "Yeah you both looked worse for wear I can say that for a fact."

Sesshoumarusat back on the tree branch and listened "And if the miko would have listened to my bastard brother they wouldn't have been hurt ."he chimed in.

Kagome blinked slightly and stiffened. "I suddenly feel an undesirable presence."

Miroku looked up into the tree tops "Yeah and its called Sesshoumaru." he said flatly.

The older demon brother growled "I'm warmed by the welcome monk."

The girl stared up at him and narrowed her eyes, "What's a Sesshoumaru?" She eyed the fluff around his arm. "A caterpillar?"

The demon jumped down to the ground from his perch "A dog demon." Sesshoumaru stated in a cold flat tone.

Miroku yawned "And Inu Yasha's brother."

Golden eyes turned towards Miroku "Half brother get it right monk."

Kagome blinked between Miroku and Sesshoumaru. "Well, are you hungry, or can I make you some tea or anything?" she asked him.

"No, I just stopped by to check on my idiot brother," the elder said as he turned to look at Inu Yasha.

Miroku coughed. "Half brother."

The girl narrowed her eyes at him slightly. "Well, as you can see, he's doing well. Now, that your job is finished, you're welcome to leave."

A slight smile came to Sesshoumaru's cold features. "Smitten with Inu Yasha aren't you miko? Be warned miko's that fall for him usually end up dead."

Kagome stood up, looking hard at Sesshoumaru. Her silver eyes glowed unnaturally in the darkness and she reached up, plucking her hair loose, revealing her ears. "Well, I'm only half miko," she snarled. "But it's still enough to purify your fuzzy ass."

Sesshoumaru chuckled. "I know you're a half breed, I can smell it on you," He said as he walked over to Inu Yasha. "I haven't seen him in his human form since he was a pup." His eyes glowed in the darkness. "Such a weakness; if he was full demon he would have had such great power but look at him he lays there half dead and all because of his love for a miko."He turned his eyes to Kagome.

Kagome stared at Sesshoumaru dead in the eye. "Can you honestly tell me that you would leave someone you considered a friend in a situation like that?"

Sesshoumaru turned and began to walk back towards the forest. "I wouldn't know of what you speak of," he said as he approached two other figures that stood at the edge of the camp. One a young woman and the other a small toad like demon. "Just end this war before all is destroyed." With that silver haired demon disappeared.

Miroku blinked "Well that was odd."

Kagome smiled over at Miroku. "It's called piercing the male ego. You'll see it a lot with me."

He laughed "No, I mean Sesshoumaru usually tries to kill Inu Yasha and he passed a prime opportunity up right there." he said as he looked over to Inu Yasha "I mean it's not like he can fight back right now."

She shrugged. "Brotherly love." She sat back down by Inu Yasha's head, pulled it into her lap and leaned back the tree trunk, stroking his hair. She covered Shippou up with her jacket and sighed, yawning, leaning her head to the side, resting her hand on Inu Yasha's chest, and closing her eyes.

Inu Yasha's eyes opened slightly and looked around as he whispered. "How much longer until dawn?''

Kagome looked down and smiled a bit tiredly, rubbing the bangs from his forehead. Miroku had left a while ago to go relieve Sango from her post and the fire was nothing but smoldering embers now. The night was much lighter as the morning approached. "A few more minutes now..." she whispered softly.

He nodded weakly as his skin began to itch. "Where are the others?" he asked as he sat up slowly.

The girl stretched and yawned. "Out patrolling the woods for boogey men, Sesshoumaru, and other demons of the like I suppose."

Inu Yasha blinked. "How did you know about him?"

She looked at him. "I am all knowing like that."

Inu Yasha gave her a yeah right look right before he doubled over and growled out in pain.His raven hair began to slowly fade to silver as the sun rose.His claws dug into the palms of his hands as he clenched them into fists causing them to bleed.

Kagome frown and softened some ki between her palms and forced it over him to lessen the pain.

Inu Yasha took a deep breath as he opened his golden eyes. "Thank you ..." he muttered.

She smiled slightly and stepped back. "It's ok.. I know how bad it hurts."

"Yeah I know," he said as he got to his feet. Miroku came strolling back with Sango in tow. "Aww, look at the love birds, Sango," he said teasingly.

Inu Yasha growled. "Shut it houshi!"

Kagome eyed the houshi's bruised face. "Looks like you got too friendly yourself out there Miroku."

Miroku blushed. "All I did was brush some dead leaves off her behind."

Inu Yasha rolled his eyes. "Yeah, like I believe that."

The monk rubbed his face. "Well it's true."

Sango smacked him again. "That's for lying," she snarled.

Miroku fell forward onto the ground. "Owwww, Sango stop abusing me ..." He whined. "Unless you're going to do it in a fun way."

Inu Yasha growled. "Hentai there are kids around." He said as he pointed to Shippou "So shut it!"

Shippou sat up at rubbed his eyes. "Is it morning yet?"

Miroku got up and brushed himself off "Yeah it's morning," he said with a frown.

Inu Yasha stretched. "Well, if we are gonna get going let's head out," he said as he picked up his things.

Kagome picked up her stuff and let Shippou climb up her back, then helped Sango finish packing. "You guys got everything?" she asked, looking around.

The guys nodded as they stood waiting on the girls. "Yep, just waiting on you girls," Miroku said.

Sango got Kirara to transform and climbed up on top of her. "Miroku and I will ride ahead and check out the landscape and see what we can find out from the locals in the next town about the demonic uprisings."

Miroku quickly jumped onto the demon cat and sat behind Sango. "Now you two play nice and Kagome what ever you do don't let Inu Yasha breed."

The hanyou's eyes shot open and glared over to his friends. "Sango get him out of here before I rip his head off."

Kagome giggled and Shippou tugged on her hair. "Can I go too?"

Kagome looked up at Miroku. "I don't know, how much more dangerous will your route be compared to ours?"

Miroku thought for a minute. "About the same as yours I guess. What do you think Sango?"

Sango shrugged. "Maybe even less so. I guess it would be ok." Kagome smiled.

"Alright, but be careful, and remember everything I taught you!" she called after him as he scampered up onto Kirara's back. The group took off and left her standing there with Inu Yasha.

She blushed. "I feel like a nagging mother..." she muttered.

He smirked as he started walking "You sound like one too."

"Inu Yasha?" she asked quietly as she fell into step behind him. "Would you ever think at first glance that I was a killer?

Inu Yasha shrugged. "Everyone is capable of it. No matter what or who they are."

Kagome sighed. "You don't condone the killing of humans, right?"

His ears twitched. "I don't know; I haven't ever killed one, but if it was necessary I would."

The girl stared at the ground. "Shippou wasn't always a demon."

Inu Yasha stopped in his tracks and looked back at her. "What do you mean he wasn't always a demon?"

She glanced sideways at him as she walked passed him. "He used to be human."

Inu Yasha followed behind her. "How? I mean how does a human become demon I thought you had to be born that way."

Kagome ran a hand through her hair. "The Goddess can change your race."

"So he was changed," he said as he shook his head. "What about his parents were they changed too?"

Kagome stiffened and a frigid look came over her face. "I killed his parents."

Inu Yasha froze. "Ok, I think my hearing is failing me. Did you just say you killed his parents?"

"You heard right." She continued to look forward as she continued walking. "I used to be part of the assassination team for the Goddess. Normally, hanyou's are looked on as unworthy and cannot join, and killed on sight, yadda yadda, you know all of this. However, my father was a very powerful vampire/neko hybrid and one of the Goddess's most loyal advisors so acceptations were made. Shippou's parents tried to kill me right before dawn while I was human, and I tried my best to subdue them, but my strength suddenly spun out of control as my demon side came back into control and..." the girl trailed off and shrugged, her hair hiding her face.

"So basically you're saying it was an accident." Inu Yasha said as he watched her. "It's ok, things happen beyond our control."

Kagome looked up at him, tears shining in her eyes. "But that's not what I'm saying. I took it on as a murder charge because I was an assassin and as a favor to my father, the Goddess changed Shippou for me to look over him. Ever since then I've had to keep Kouga and his group under control as punishment."

Inu Yasha scowled. "That's a sucky punishment. I mean, who would want to keep an eye on that mangy wolf."

Kagome shook her head and pushed a hand through her hair. "I just... don't know what Shippou's going to do once he remembers who it is who killed his parents."

He sighed. "That's going to be a real touchy subject I mean if I was to ever find out who killed my mother I would go insane and kill them." Inu Yasha started walking again. "Besides he doesn't strike me as the kind to hate you for it."

Kagome rubbed her face. "Yea..." she said quietly, and walked in silently.

"So..." Inu Yasha started. "Where are we going again?" he asked as they made their way through the forest.

"To go have hot and wild hanyou sex."

Inu Yasha growled. "That's not going to end the war."

She arched a brow over at him. "You don't know that. Have you tried it yet?"

"No, but until I have someone tell me that's how to end it I'm not going to do it," he stated as he walked.

Kagome growled and slapped the rosary back on him. "SIT!" she snapped. "At least Sesshoumaru isn't fucking insulting!" she snapped, whirling on her heel and storming off down the path.

Inu Yasha hit the ground in a cloud of dust. He growled as he raised his head "Damn it, I didn't mean it in a bad way!!!" he screamed scaring birds from the trees.

She whirled around. "Well it came out that way!!!" She turned and stomped off in a huff.

As soon as he could feel his legs he got to his feet and went after her. "Will you stop acting like a brat?!" He scolded. "I don't need a mate right now."

Kagome ignored him and pushed on through the path, jerking her pack up higher on her shoulder. She was only a hanyou. An ugly, worthless hanyou. Unfit for anything. Even to those of her own kind, and now she really knew it.

He reached out and grabbed her by the shoulder and spun her around to face him. "Damn it, listen to me if I knew it would stop the blood shed I would do it in a heart beat!" he snapped. "But what good are you going to be pregnant with a pup huh?"

"That's not it, and you know it!" she spat venomously, jerking her shoulder out of his grasp. She wrenched her eyes away from his to hide the hurt in them. "I was only joking anyway. Get over yourself, baka." She turned around and kept walking.

"You were not joking and I know it or you wouldn't be acting like this."

She spun around and cursed, ready to let it fly. Kagome looked up at him, her jaw clenched, "Dammit, we have a job to do, let's go," she snapped, and whirled around again.

Hurt flashed across his face. "Do you really want it that bad?" he asked quietly "To be my mate?"

She froze and stared down at the ground. "Why does it matter what I want, I'm no where near as beautiful as Kikyou was... I'm only a worthless hanyou," she bit out bitterly.

He growled. "Who said that?I never said that!"

Kagome just looked back up to her path and wiped her face absently, harshly and started walking again.

Inu Yasha snarled. "Shimatta! You're such a pain in the ass. I'm trying to be nice and all you do is ignore me!"

The girl turned around and walked back towards him. "What do you want to know, Inu Yasha?"

"Nothing lets just go," he said as he adjusted his bag over his shoulder "We have a job to do."

"Right," she scoffed. "As long as we leave on your terms."

"Chikushou onna! What the hell do you want from me?!"Inu Yasha yelled as he turned to look at her."Do you want me to drop to my knees and worship you?"

Kagome glared at him. "No, I'm not Kikyou, remember?" She stalked off ahead of him again.

He growled as his eyes turned red. "Stop bringing her up!" Inu Yasha yelled in a deep voice as he took off after her. He grabbed her and tackled her to the ground and flipped her over, grabbing her chin to force her to look at him. "I have been fighting myself...I have been trying to keep my demon blood in control and keep myself from forcing you to do something that you would regret later." He seethed. "But bitch your making it hard for me to keep control."

Kagome stared up at him from her place on the ground into his red eyes. Her black hair fanned out beneath her as she looked up at him and she lowered her eyes to his heaving chest. She gently wrapped her fingers around his wrist of the hand around her chin to ease off the pressure he was applying there.

"If you want it so damn bad I will let you have it," Inu Yasha growled as he took a claw and cut open her top.

A voice boomed out from the forest "Inu Yasha, Nani o shimasu?!" Sesshoumaru asked as he stepped out of the forest clad all in black. "Can you not control yourself?"

Inu Yasha looked over his shoulder and growled showing his fangs.

Kagome reached up and held her top together, looking up to see Sesshoumaru before them.

Inu Yasha growled as he got to his feet and glared at his brother "Get the hell out of here Sesshoumaru!"

The older demon stood his ground "Ototo, ananta no soneki wa doko da?"

The growl coming from Inu became more ferocious. "I have no respect for you brother, just like you have none for me."

A smirk crossed Sesshoumaru's face "Really I never noticed. Let the miko do her job."

Kagome sat up and moved back a bit, tying her shirt in place as best she could.

"Fuck you Sesshoumaru, I don't need you breathing down my neck!" Inu snapped. "Who made you my guardian anyway?!"

Sesshomaru's golden eyes narrowed "If you must know otou-san did.I have been keeping you half way out of trouble for several hundred years now."

Inu snorted "Well but the fuck out!"

The girl stood up and placed a hand on Inu Yasha's arm. "Come on, Yasha-san... we have to catch up with the others," she said quietly.

"That's right, Inu Yasha, listen to your miko, and get back to your mission," the older brother said dangerously low.

Inu glared at him "Why don't you do it since the only reason you want it over with is because your in love with Rin!" He shot back "And here I thought you hated ningen females."

Kagome glared at Inu Yasha. "Sit!"

Inu Yasha hit the ground hard letting out a growl as his face met the dirt.

Sesshomaru's eyes shined in delight "Well I can't say you didn't deserve that Inu Yasha ."he shot back as he turned to walk around "Just stop fucking around. The sooner you and your miko get this over the happier we all will be."

Kagome glared at the back of Sesshoumaru's head. "Jade bead's for his rosary, I believe..." she muttered, making a mental note to herself.

"Wench, I wouldn't even try it if you value your nrck ."Sesshomaru said as he disappeared into the forest ."

Inu slowly sat up "That stupid bastard I'm going to kill him one day and then dance on his tombstone."

Kagome help Inu Yasha up by his elbow and drug him to his feet. "Come on," she mumbled.

Inu Yasha stood next to her and grabbed his bag grumbling about his asshole brother and stomped off into the forest "Next time can I kill him?" He asked.

Kagome shook her head and followed him. "That's illegal."

"not among demons it isn't."he said "Come on at least let me claw that smug look off his face?"

"Nah, I'll just smack a rosary on his ass and then watch the smug look leave his face when his fluff turns brown."

Inu Yasha burst into a fit of laughter as that vision ran through his head "Ok deal."
