Take My Breath Away by Berlin

This is how my sadistic little angst-loving mind perceives this song. ::Snickers:: I can turn anything into something angst-ridden and heart-breaking. Enjoy!

His breath came in long, heaving gasps as he stood over the mangled body of the fallen demon. Crimson eyes flashed dangerously as a sadistic smirk slowly curled his lips, one shining, elongated fang peaking out of his mouth.

Behind him, he could hear his companion's heart rate increase noticeably when he flexed the muscles of his bare back. Cruel pleasure immediately curled around his blackened heart as he slowly, dramatically turned to face his newest prey, eyes lighting maliciously when he met the frightened, blue gaze of a woman he couldn't quite recognize.

He inhaled deeply and was enthralled to catch the pungent stench of fear wafting from the young woman standing but three meters away, clutching uselessly a nicked, worn sword in her trembling hands. This is what he lived for.

The blood.

The power.

The terror reflected in his victim's eyes right before he ripped the life right out of their feeble bodies.

The blood that throbbed so rapidly through his veins held not a trace of the pathetic, human vulnerability that had plagued him his entire life. He was completely demon now. No longer beset under the liabilities called 'emotions' that his departed mother's kind held so dear.

A small, malevolent grin slowly spread across his face.

Kagome gasped as Inuyasha turned to glare at her from where he stood over the bloody form of Kirara. Her throat clenched painfully as her gaze quickly swept over the fallen forms of her comrades littering the ground around her before raising to meet the evil gaze of her friend. He was looking at her… hungrily.

Gasping, she quickly took a subconscious step backwards as he slowly advanced on her, cracking his bloodied knuckles loudly in preparation for something she really didn't want to think about.

Not that it'd really matter in a few minutes…

Maybe seconds…

She gulped as tears came to her eyes.

'Watching every motion

In my foolish lover's game

On this endless ocean

Finally lovers know no shame

Turning and returning

To some secret place inside

Watching in slow motion

As you turn around and say

My love'

With a speed that would have put his brother to shame, Inuyasha had Kagome flying through the air with a startled scream. He watched in pure, unadulterated glee as the girl landed in a painful heap several yards away, ears twitching in delight when they detected the faint cracking of at least six different bones.

Coughing weakly as she tasted the coppery tang of blood in her mouth, still clutching the Tetsusaiga tightly to her crippled chest, Kagome moaned in agony and tried not to move from her uncomfortable position on the dirty ground. She knew that Inuyasha really didn't want to do what he was doing. She knew he was completely out of control at this point, that he was blind in his bloodlust.

... But even though she knew all these things, she still couldn't help the overwhelming pain of betrayal washing over her shattering heart, some subconscious part of her telling her that this was what the hanyou had always longed to do.

'Take my breath away'

That when he'd said all those awful things about her being weak and burdening… when he'd said that he should have just left her to the demons for all the help she was… he'd meant it…

'Take my breath away'

To see the one she loved more than the precious life slowly draining out of her broken body throw her around like a rag-doll simply for the pleasure of doing so hurt her more than anything she thought she could experience.

'Watching I keep waiting

Still anticipating love

Never hesitating

To become the fated ones'

She was almost certain that she wouldn't have bothered falling in love in the first place if she'd known it would hurt this much.

'Turning and returning

To some secret place inside

Watching in slow motion

As you turn around and say

My love'

Not that she thought she really had a choice in the matter. Even now, as she lay crumpled on the ground, tears falling freely down her dirty cheeks, body trembling with the force it took not to wretch up half her weight in blood, she still loved him. Her heart still beat for him and her lungs still drew breath for him.

'Take my breath away

Take my breath away'

A swift kick to her side told her that her attacker had returned. The force of the blow turned her over to her back and she slowly looked up into Inuyasha's claret eyes that reflected the blood he so ruthlessly lusted for. She watched the grin return through half-lidded, pain-darkened cobalt eyes as his claws swiftly delivered a deep gash into her stomach.

'Through the hourglass I saw you

In time you slipped away

When the mirror crashed I called you'

She cried out sharply in pain as more blood erupted from her mouth along with the gaping whole in her stomach. Through the fog of pain and helplessness clouding her mind, one coherent thought made it through and out of her bloodied lips.

'And turned to hear you say

If only for today

I am unafraid'

"I forgive you… Inuyasha… this isn't you… My Inuyasha…"

'Take my breath away

You take my breath away'

Brows furrowing slightly in angry confusion, Inuyasha shifted crossly as he heard those garbled words escape the woman's mouth. But it was soon replaced with a smirk when he heard her draw her last breath, her bloody, mangled body ceasing it's short-lived convulsions and finally settling into the eternal sleep of the dead.

Chuckling cruelly, he absently reached down to pull the strange sword from her limp grip…

'Watching every motion

In this foolish lovers game

Haunted by the notion

Somewhere there's a love in flames

And those irritating human emotions returned…

Turning and returning

To some secret place inside

Watching in slow motion

As you turn around and say

My love'

A blood-curdling scream pierced the air as the hanyou finally regained his senses…

'Take my breath away

Take my breath away'

Has anyone ever thought about how that song can sound? With the 'Take my breath away' line as an analogy for taking someone's life? ::shrugs:: Guess it's just me then…
