Flashback
“Daughter you must know that you must never use your powers. Unless you are near death or a person you truly love is in danger. I love you so much my little weather witch. I just want you to know this and because you are the only weather witch born in Hyrule for many years and are distended to be the next Oracle Of the Sky.” Zelda's eyes where glazed over and Link ran his figures through 3 year old Rachal's hair.
There where tears in her mother's eyes as she kept going,” Even right now you are already the Oracle. I wish you just had hylian thoughts and actions, but like every oracle that came before you inherited some of the ways of thoughts and the personality of the one before them .I really could not believe when I found out it was demon. I love you though.”
Rachal lifted her hand to her mother's chin and her father's arm,” Don't worry Mommy I will learn all I can to be the best oracle I can and be the best weather witch ever.” Zelda smiled and kissed her cheek and Link brought both into a hug.
Back to the present
Rachal looked at Maric and Inuyasha 20 feet from across her. Inuyasha was trying to get Maric to say something but nothing was happening. Fear gripped Rachal heart like a steel trap and kept thinking,' No this can't be happening, not to the one I love!' Rachal gasped relizing what she had just thought,' The one I love.' The words rang in her head, Rachal took a breath and deciding on what she would do.
Rachal put her hands together and let some of her power slip out of its core. Rachal automatically felt like she could do anything but she held herself back. `I just need to fly over to Maric that's all I don't need all of this power.' Rachal thought and kept her mind ahead she felt herself rising off the ground lift by her powers and the winds that she kept around her.
`I have to do this I can't lose control for a second.' Rachal thought determinedly as she slowly floated high in the air toward Maric and Inuyasha nobody seemed to notice until a horde of demons came at and she shrieked. `Oh no this can't be happening I have to get to Maric! But if I try to go faster I would be leading them to Maric!' Sesshomaru when looking at Rachal knew he couldn't get there in time, but while he was distracted one of Naraku's tentacles cut through his sash making Tensusaiga fly and disappear in the bodies of the slain!
Just then she heard a wild whinny and Rachal turned around to see New Moon, Mr. Barren, and Mocha running head long at her. Rachal remembered that New Moon and Mr. Barren was a unicorn Pegasus but what could Mocha do? New Moon let out another wild whinny out that sounded like a war cry and his black wings sprouted from his back and a long silver horn now graced his forehead as well as Mr. Barren! Mocha sprouted black wings as well and a silver horn also graced his forehead as well!
Rachal gasped as the two jumped into the air and flew straight at her! The demons where now only a few yards from her and New Moon, Mr. Barren, and Mocha jumped in front of her slashing down demons with their horns and hooves!
Something else surprised her Brittany was riding on the back of New Moon and biting and clawing at the demons that tried to get past New Moon! Star was riding on the back of Macho and doing the same thing! Mr. Barren was getting any that got past them as well.
Rachal would have stood there in all forever but Brittany looked back at her with that golden gaze. Rachal realized that the animals where fighting for her life! Rachal nodded to Brittany and continued to fly through the air to Maric. Rachal saw her friends stare at her in aw as she flew but the fighting continued, but Rachal didn't care there were only two things she thought about right now and that was the get to Maric a the memories of when she first met her animals.
Flashback
3-year-old Rachal sat on a large pillow reading a large book of hidden areas in Hyrule in the Castle Library. The library was very large and had books lining very inch of the walls with beautiful stained and regular windows. Rachal had found it hidden in the library behind another book.
Rachal hared footsteps coming from down the hall and stopping in front of the beautiful carved doorways. The winds whispered to her it was her father, she sighed and hid the book under her pillow. Her winds rushed and worked together to open the door as Link walked in.
Link looked at his daughter seeing her reading a large book about demons. “You know most kids don't know how to read at this age. I don't know of any other child that loves to read or get in to trouble as much as you.”
Rachal cooked an eyebrow noticing that he was keeping his hands behind him. Rachal asked,” Now when have I ever gotten in trouble?” Link chuckled,” Well let's see, one wander off to parts of Hyrule that are not even supposed to exist. You always disappear leaving your sister and the rest of your family wandering where you are. You ditch your guards tricking them and then running off to where no one can find you. Shall I stop?”
“I get it Dad! Now what's behind your back?” Asked Rachal getting annoyed. “Well that is why I came up here I got you some guardian hounds. That way you can have some protection if you can't fight. Remember guardian hounds and hyline horses have the same life span as a hylian. So they will probably live as long as you.” Link explained as he brought out two puppies that looked like they were just weaned.
“They are truly mine? They're like Rose's guardian hound but hers is bigger and is a male these two are females!” Rachal asked taking hold of the two pups. “Yes Rose's is bigger because he is older. Now what are you going to name them?” Link asked happy to see that his daughter had taken to the pups.
Rachal looked deeply into the brown eyes of the pure black pup. Rachal giggle as the pup reached up as far as it could and licked her chin. “This pup's name is Star.” Link nodded and watched as she set Star down next to her feet. Star sat there happily looking up at Rachal who was holding on to the smaller white pup with orange patches and a docked tail.
Rachal looked into the amber eyes of the little pup, the pup whined and put her nose to Rachal's chin. Rachal smiled a reserved smile. Link raised his eyebrows he knew that Rachal would have a strong bond to both pups, but this one would have the strongest.
Rachal looked at her father and said,” Her name is Brittany. Father did you notice that she has a heart shaped mark on her forehead?” Link raised his eyebrows and looked and sure enough his daughter was right.
Link smiled,” Yes you're right I didn't see that. Well I have to go.” Link walked to the doors and stop and yelled behind him,” And Rachal try not to get yourself or your puppies in trouble.” Link continued walking out the door not seeing the glare he got from his daughter.
Rachal sighed and walked back to her pillow and pulled the book from under it. Rachal flipped to a page with a map on it. “Well are you two ready for your first adventure?” Rachal asked the pups who cocked their heads to the side causing Rachal to giggle.
Rachal stood up and walked over to the door the picture on the map imprinted in her mind, the pups followed her every step of the way. Rachal walked out of the room and directly into the body of Rose. “Hey Rachal you know that Dad's taking us to Lon Lon Ranch? Then is taking us for a ride to Lake Hylia!”
Rachal smiled and thought,' This couldn't be any better.' Rachal and Rose rode with their father to Lon Lon Ranch, Rachal riding with a guard and Rose with Link. They entered the large corral that held only little fillies and colts. The adult horses walking around the racetrack that surrounded the outside of the corral.
Rose squealed and ran into the corral all of the foals ran away from the noise she made all but one. A small palomino paint filly whinnied and trotted to Rose nosing her chest. Rose giggled and wrapped her arms around the filly that was as tall as she was! Rachal sighed and walked into the corral, all of the other foals walked up to her. All of the foals liked her and let her work her hands over each of them learning about each of them. She liked each of them but not the way to actually have them as her companion, which they would become if she picked them.
Rachal walked over to Link and looked toward Rose was with the filly with Deacon running around the two, “I think that Rose found her horse.” Link smiled,” Yes I think she did. I will go tell Malon. What about you didn't you find a horse?” Rachal looked down at her feet where her two puppies where playing,” No I did not. I'm sorry Dad, but none of these horses suit me.”
Link sighed,” It's okay.” Rachal sighed thankful that her father was not mad that her. “Honey why don't you go ahead to Lake Hylia and please stay with your guards.” Link told Rachal as he walked to the ranch house where Malon and her father Talon lived.
Rachal smiled just then she heard someone yelled at her the next thing she knew she was on the ground with someone on top of her. “Hah you should have been on your guard, Rachal.” Said the person on her smugly.
Rachal relaxed her body she sensed the person relax just when she thrust her back up flinging the person off. “Yeah hah hah Crystal, but who is face first in the dirt right now?” Rachal asked looking as her cousin. “Well what are you doing here I already see Rose with that filly so she is doing the same thing I am doing getting a horse.” Crystal said.
“I was just leaving. And no I did not find a horse, well I'll see you later.” Rachal said getting behind her guard on a horse and rode away not giving Crystal any time to do anything. Rachal rode behind her guard the whole time looking around the land her two pups tucked in her arms.
The patrol of guards around her was 10 `more than usual' thought Rachal. The guard held on to her the best he could with her being behind them as the horse jumped over the two tall fences. The guards stopped in front of the small lab that was next to the lake, the sun was setting and it would be dark in half an hour.
Rachal smiled and before the guard's had a chance Rachal jumped down from her guard's horse and ran behind the lab. The guards cursed and ran behind the lab but she was nowhere to be found the guards panicked and ran around looking. Rachal had jumped up on to the roof and climbed up the top of the lookout tower that was on top of the lab.
Rachal smiled down at the distressing guards she loved doing this to her guards. Rachal sat down in the lookout making sure that no matter where the sun was so the guards couldn't see her shadow. Brittany and Star snuggled against her chest, their faces looked like they were laughing at the guards too.
It was nightfall and the guards had given up the search and where leaving. Rachal heard that when Link and Rose left the ranch with Rose's filly they decided to go home instead of to the Lake. Rachal smiled as she climbed back down the ladder and jumped down from the house. Rachal knew the scientist inside the lab would ignore her.
Rachal jumped from the roof rolling when she landed so she wouldn't hurt herself or Star and Brittany who where clutched firmly to her chest. The pups barked happily as they ran with Rachal to a stream that fed the lake. Rachal sighed they would have to swim across the stream to the cave that was hidden from view and could not be seen at any time of the day and was hidden by the shadows at night.
Rachal knew nobody else knew about this cave unless they had the book or knew it by heart and only Rachal knew it existed. Rachal put a foot in the water and shivered, the water was colder than she expected but not cold enough to catch a cold! Rachal placed the pups on her head and started to swim across the water.
When Rachal was half way across the stream she heard Star yelp and turned to see that she had fallen into the water! Fear gripped her heart she didn't know if the pup could swim! Rachal was frozen to the spot, and couldn't believe it when a tiny black head pop out of the water and swam to her.
Rachal smiled “Thank Din! You're okay Star.” Star paddled next to Rachal as she swam the rest of the way across the stream. Brittany refused to come down from Rachal's head so she guessed she couldn't swim. When the group got to shore the winds around them vibrated to dry them off.
Rachal entered the cave and went through a long narrow tunnel. When she came to the end it open into a beautiful clearing at had trees surrounding the rim of it and cracks in the walls that illuminated the cave. Rachal sighed and thought,' I came all this way and there is nothing here. This is such a disappointment.' Just then she saw a opening across from her.
Rachal smiled and snuck into the next clearing that the opening lead. It was much bigger than the other and had fruit trees and lush grasses. Lining the walls where opening to many caves and in the ceiling there was a large perfect circle shape that let in plenty of light; also a small stream ran through. What shocked her was in the middle of the clearing was a giant herd of unicorns!
They were every shade of color and design. There were adults and foals. In the front of the herd was a large red roan that she guessed was the stallion. He was trying repeatedly to stab two little colts! One was pure black and the other was a bay and looked like they had just been weaned. The two also had the same star on their foreheads a crescent moon with a dot in the center of it.
Rachal read about unicorns they were supposed to be extinct! The only way the stallion could force a colt out was if it was a danger to the herd. Rachal then saw two fillies being forced back from the colts. One was half silver on one side, with black stockings, and a black ring around her eye. Her other side was black, with silver stockings, and had a silver ring around that eye. Her mane was a mixture of both colors.
The other filly was a beautiful black and silver paint. This filly's mane and tail looked like a mixture of starlight and midnight. All of the foals had little horns that were a third of the size of the adults.
The stallion had done a number on the black colt more than the bay because the black kept jumping in at the last second and taking the hit and trying to make the bay run for it. The stallion was about to bring its head down for a killing blow when Rachal knew she had to act.
Rachal ran in front of the stallion blocking the attack on the black colt, which was in front of the bay. Rachal saw the black colt behind her collapse on the ground but was still alive. Rachal growled when the stallion reared and started to pace in front of her.
The stallion didn't see any resound to attack her but what was really keeping him away was Star and Brittany in front of her. Rachal looked at the bay colt and shouted,” That are you standing there for? Get out of here!” The bay wheeled and disappeared through the tunnel.
“Brittany, Star, stay here and don't move until I get the colt out of here.” Rachal whispered. The pups sat down and kept their eyes on the stallion and herd that was watching them. Rachal leaned over the black colt and saw the gashes and deep cuts in his flesh.
Rachal growled at these wounds, but at that sound the unicorn open it's eyes. They were filled with fear when the looked at the stallion, but when they saw Rachal they turned to hope. Rachal leaned down to the colt's ear and whispered,” Don't worry they won't hurt you. I'll take the hit if they try okay? Please try and stand we have to go.” The colt tried to stand it did but was unstable. Rachal then saw why the stallion did not want the colt in his herd. The unicorn had wings they were small but they would get bigger and they were pure black.
The colt looked at her and realized she had seen his wings and looked a around fearfully thinking that she would try to hurt him like the stallion did to him and his friend. Rachal then smiled,” Don't worry I like you the way you are. I think you and I are going to be traveling for a long time together. First let's get you out of here.”
Rachal helped the colt into the other clearing and saw that the other colt was nowhere to be seen. Rachal kept moving doing her best to support the colt, when they came out of the tunnel the colt looked around in wander. Rachal then realized that every unicorn must have lived in the cave never coming out that's why everyone thought they didn't exist anymore.
Rachal looked for the moon but saw that there wasn't one. “You know you need a name.” Rachal said looking at the sky she knew that her pups had come back. “How about New Moon?” Rachal asked looking at the colt that nodded.
“All right let's go home.” Rachal said while walking toward the castle she knew it would take all night. Rachal didn't worry though New Moon wounds were already gone healing fast. Then Rachal was surprised when New Moon stuck his head through the gap between her legs and then lifting it rolling Rachal onto his back.
Rachal gasped and New Moon nickered what sounded like a laugh. “Very funny!” Rachal growled as Brittany jumped on to New Moon beside her. Rachal had to lean down and pick up Star.
Rachal drew in a sharp breath as New Moon took off in the air. Rachal wrapped her arms around New Moon's neck. Rachal looked down and saw that they were 30 feet in the air! Rachal smiled she loved this! Just being in the air made her feel at home.
Rachal then heard a wild whinny and looked down to see bay colt running back and forth in front of the gates that blocked off the lake. Rachal was surprised to see the colt back up then soar over the gates not touching the ground.
`He has wings to! No wander New Moon was so protective to him.' Rachal thought to herself. Rachal then shouted,” Hey little colt stop!” The unicorn ran as fast as it could, afraid that Rachal was going to hurt it.
Rachal and New Moon followed the flying racing colt to the tunnel that lead into the Kokiri Forest they didn't stop to talk to the kokiri, the child like people that lived there. They continued following the colt to the tunnel that leads into the Lost Woods.
“Stop New Moon!” yelled Rachal panic and despair in her voice. New Moon stopped and looked at her looking confused, but there was desperation in his eyes wanting his friend. Rachal sighed unhappily knowing how this would tear him,” We can't go any farther. That's the Lost Woods we're not allowed in there. Anyone who goes in there is lost. I'm sorry but we won't see your friend for a long time, maybe never. He's lost.”
New Moon looked at the tunnel and let out a loud whinny that was full of sadness and heartbreak Rachal cried knowing this is so hard for the young horse. “New Moon I'm so sorry! Let's go.” New Moon sighed and walked over to tunnel and walked through the tunnel toward Hyrule Castle Rachal leading New Moon when she needed to.
Rachal opened the stable doors leading New Moon in, both puppies asleep on his back. Epona Link's horse looked up and nickered; Epona liked everyone, horse or other. Zelda's horse Diamond was also in there, a white horse. Rachal looked over to the stall across from Epona's it held the little filly that Rose fell in love with and a slate above the stall read Splash.
Rachal saw a stall next to it filled with hay for Rachal's foal and now she had one. Rachal open the stall door and walked inside the large stall. New Moon with the pups followed in, New Moon looked around then layed down in the hay.
Rachal smiled and layed down her head resting on his side the pups crawled down from New Moon's side and crawled in to her lap. New Moon and soon everyone else fell asleep.
