Kagome sighed as she rested her chin onto the desk.

It was a year after they had defeated Naraku and she had returned to her era.

It had also been a year since…She returned to the Sengoku Jidai…

 

She reached for the jewel that was safely hidden behind her uniform…It had been with her since the defeat of Naraku…

 

“I guess I don't belong here…”

 

She remembered her thoughts as she gazed at the Goshinboku…

 

“Goshinboku…The place I met you…and the place I left you…”

 

Her head ached at the lingering thought…Her last goodbye to him…

 

“The feeling still clings onto me…”

 

She reached for the Kotodama rosary and lifted it off his neck…

 

“Will I ever find my way…back to you?”

 

His asleep look made her want to cry even more… But she held back her tears and turned to leave…He was tired…She was tired…

 

He could never forget Kikyo… and she couldn't bear watching him mourn everyday…While she did nothing at all… She knew her staying would cause more pain to him…

 

She immediately ran towards the bone eaters well and hopped in…She knew she would never come back… Never…

 

The school bell rang and dragged her thoughts away from the past…Kagome gather her books and walked out of the classroom…She stepped out into fresh air and pulled her jacket closer to her…

 

A white snowflake drifted down towards her.

Kagome lifted her hand and caught it…

 

“Yuki…”

A year ago…Kagome opened the door of the hut that was covering the well. A single snowflake drifted towards her…

 

“Yuki…”

She quickly held back her tears and ran into her house…

 

“Mama…I'm back…”

 

“Kagome! I thought you would take even longer!”

 

“Nee-Chan! Tell me what happened!! Did you defeat the big baddie?? Where is Inu-no-ni-chan?”

 

Almost immediately her smiles faded away…

 

“He won't come anymore.”

 

“Kagome?”

 

“Mama…I got something to tell you…I want to move…”

 

“I… want to go somewhere else where Inuyasha can never find me…”

 

“Kagome…Did something happen?”

 

“No…Mama… I have to leave soon. Before he comes looking for me…”

 

“But where are you going Kagome?!

 

“Hokkaido…We have relatives there don't we…”

 

“If you insist…Kagome…Take care…But must you leave immediately?”

 

“If I don't…I'm afraid that I never can…Please Mama…Help me this once…After a few months I'll come back to visit…Ok?”

 

“Kagome…Go… I will help you make the arrangements.”

 

“Thank you Mama…And… Please, don't tell him alright?”

 

Her mother nodded as Kagome walked up to her room and quickly gathered her stuff…She bid farewell to her mother secretly when Souta and her Ji-Chan were out…She couldn't bear to leave Tokyo… All her memories were here…

 

Before she left…She made one last stop at Goshinboku… The arrow hole was still there…Although the head had been pulled out the time she blasted the overgrown roots at the well…

 

Kagome reached out for the patch and touched it lightly…Inuyasha… She held her tears and turned to leave…

Kagome had it all prepared…Hokkaido was a long way from Tokyo… There was very little possibility that Inuyasha would sniff her scent all the way to there…But she had to take precautions. She took out a bottle of perfume… Although she hated the smell but it was the only way to mask her scent from Inuyasha's nose. Before she left, she also took a bath with a different bath foam and shampoo… Finally she put on new clothes and sprayed the perfume… This should be enough…for now…

 

Suddenly she remember something…The Shikon no Tama… Inuyasha was sure to make a big fuss of her taking it and disappearing suddenly…So she left her mother a message… If Inuyasha really comes…for the Shikon no tama… tell me secretly… I'll bring it back…But I won't see him.

 

That day, she got onto a train that would take her away from all the painful memories she had here…

 

She settled down with one of her relatives and attended a neighborhood school… Her life had since been peaceful as she kept her days busy so as to forget about Inuyasha and the gang… She knew Shippo was going to miss her but she assured herself that there was still Miroku, Sango, Kirara and Inuyasha to take care of him…

Kagome walked down the street of turning towards her relative's inn… Her aunt had an Inn at Hokkaido and she stayed there while helping to work for some allowance…

 

It was the winter season now so there were going to be many tourists coming to visit…It was soon to be winter break soon…It would also mean… she was to go back and visit her family…

 

“Kagome-Chan!!”

 

Kagome turned to see her friend, Keito-Chan waving at her.

She returned her greeting with a smile

 

“Kagome-Chan! I thought of visiting your aunt's hot spring since it's snowing already! You wouldn't mind would you?”

 

“Of course not!”

 

The two friends made their way to the Inn chatting away…
