Prologue
Dark days seemed to come often now. A lone figure sat, it’s silhouette outlined by the flashes of lightning then fading into nothing once it disappeared. Shaking violently as sobs escaped moist, parted pink lips. The flash once again appeared and sapphire eyes stared at the wall blankly. One name pushed past the sobs as the figure rubbed their eyes, wiping away the tears that threatened to fall.
“Kouga..” That name hung in the air as the silhouette stood, surrounded by darkness as the storm out side calmed. It was strange that the weather seemed to match the mood today. It was sorrowful like the storm had cried with her.
A noise pulled her attention away from the wall that had taken up her interest at the moment. Looking to the door, light began to flood into the room only to be taken away as another dark figure entered the room. The atmosphere was heavy with despair, the bright eyes of the new occupant shined as one last strike of lightning flashed outside. Gold eyes glowed, silver hair shined like the moon and the triangular ears atop the mans head flicked at the slight sound of thunder beyond the wall.
“Kagome, what’s wrong?” he asked as he stared into red, puffy, eyes while slowly approaching. Kagome stood in place like furniture that had been posited on the floor. The chill of her cold glance sent shivers up his spine, but he mentally suppressed them.
His warmth radiated off of him as he got closer. Moments passed slowly as he hesitantly wrapped his arms around her. “Did he do anything Kagome?” he questioned quietly. The slight nod was the only response he had received from her so far. “What did he do?” his question hung in the thick air for a moment as he buried his face in her silky mass of raven black hair. Sobs reached his sensitive ears as the girl in his arms tried to speak.
“He said he’d.... b-be with me forever..” she wailed into his chest. “He made a fool of me Inuyasha!” she shouted her anger as she placed her hands on his chest and fisted the soft material with her fingers. “I went to tell him.... and he wasn’t there...Ha–Hakkaku... told me... t-that he went to.. A-Ayame... I was completely embarrassed! They all knew why I was there!” she shouted again and lifted her head to look up at Inuyasha. “I don’t know what to do anymore Inuyasha” She whispered as more tears fell, trailing down her pale neck and drying half way down.
“It’s okay Kagome, I’ll help you, okay?” he asked as he kissed her forehead lightly. “I’ll do what ever I can and make sure that bastard pays” Inuyasha licked away her tears and smiled at her. “But right now, we have to let you get some rest, it’s not good for you or the pup” He said and led her to the bed, laying her down as he crawled on next to her and pulled the blankets over them.
