Chapter 1
months passed, as did the few short years, flowers died, leaves fell and snow drifted over the land. The upholstered ground was white as more white crystals of frozen water drifted like leaves in fall. The sky was dark and people scurried about, puffs of air showed in the chilled afternoon air.
smiled happily as a small boy pranced about the shop, almost as if he owned it. "Come-on Kai, pick something so we can get back to daddy" She said lightly as the jubilant old man sat in a whicker chair behind the counter.
little boy turned around and smiled proudly at his mother. "Daddy can wait, I need to pick the presents" he stated as he turned back around and grabbed a few things off of the shelves. He stumbled over to Kagome and put what he had on the counter. "What would Mikomi and Akuma want mommy?" he questioned as he looked up at her. Piercing blue eyes stared at her intently while raven black hair framed his face and hung down his back in silky waves. Kagome smiled and pat his head gently while running her fingers through his hair.

"Anything" she said softly and lifted Kai into her arms. He stared at the gifts he had picked and clapped his hands happily, knowing that he had picked the right things.
door creaked open and a man with silver hair stepped in. A skiers hat over his head and gloves on his hands while he was wrapped a leather coat. Snow covered jeans on his legs and black snow boots around his feet. Kai wriggled in Kagome's arms till she put him down. Instantly the child bolted over to the man and clung to his wet pants legs.

"Daddy!" the little boy screeched with delight and the man bent over and picked him up.

"Hey shorty, what are you and mom doing?" he asked as he messed up the boys finely combed hair.
closed his eyes and scrunched his face in displeasure as the Inuyasha riled him up. Kagome sighed and paid for the merchandise while walking over to Inuyasha, giving an irritated sigh. "Where are Mikomi and Akuma?" she asked low and threatening.
's golden eyes wandered to her and then he lowered his ears. "They're with Souta" He said then stood tall as he looked down at his mate. "What did you guys get?" he asked as he tried to look into the brown paper bag. Kagome shut it quickly and smiled. "You'll have to find out next week won't you?" she asked as she walked past him, Inuyasha trailing behind her.

wasn't very long till Kai's birthday now, only three more days. Christmas shopping took most of the day yesterday but Kai had to get the presents before they were gone. It was really hard to deny someone you love for something they really want. I still can't figure out how I can love him so much, since he looks like the one man I hope I never see again. It wasn't fair what he did to me. Then again, I don't really know if I could blame him. I'm happy with Inuyasha though, and he seems really attached to Kai even though he's not his real father, and how much Inuyasha hated Kouga is what surprises me of how excepting he is of Kai. Me and Inuyasha have two other children, Mikomi and Akuma. Mikomi looks a lot like Inuyasha.. Well both of them do, Mikomi seems to have my attitude and Akuma was blessed with Inuyasha's.. Just imagine how I feel living in a house with two Inuyasha's a Kouga and little me... It's not very fun, but I manage.


"Mommy, it's time to open the presents!" Kai shouted from the next room. Kagome hurriedly walked into the family room and sat next to Inuyasha on the couch. While Mikomi and Akuma stared at Kai's massive mountain of presents. Mrs. Higurashi stood off to the side with a video camera as she taped her grandson unwrap his first present. Souta stood next to Kai with a wide smile on his face as his nephew opened the present he had bought for him.
gasped in surprise as his eyes fell upon a stack of games. He shuffled through them for a moment then jumped onto his uncle and hugged him tightly. "Thank you Uncle Souta!" Kai shouted happily then began to tear open another present. Kai shouted his thanks again and pounced on Inuyasha. "Thank you daddy!" he said happily as he held up his small sword. "It's the greatest!" Souta clung to Inuyasha tell Mrs. Higurashi grabbed one of Kai's presents and tossed it to him.
while later and when the last gift was left Kagome sat anxiously on the couch as her son slowly opened his last present. His eyes widened as he looked over at his mother. A small smile graced Kagome's lips as she stood and exited the room only to enter with a dog trailing behind her happily. Kai ran over to Kagome and hugged her legs tightly then ran to his new pet, running his hands down it's body happily only to hear a growl erupt from inside.
brown fur covered the animals body and bright blue eyes glared at the man on the couch. Inuyasha turned his head toward the animal only to stop and stare wide eyed at the animal. His eyes narrowed into slits and a small growl rumbled in his chest. Kagome stood back and looked between the two with a raised eye brow. Suddenly a thought struck her and she raised a hand with her index finger pointed to the ceiling while the rest were curled toward her palm.

"I have a name for him!" she stated and crossed her arms over her chest while looking at the dog. "Since you seem to have a rivalry with my husband" she said as she bent over and stared into the animals eyes. He quieted and sat down, Kai wrapped his arms around the canines neck.. "you're name is Kouga" she said and looked to Kai who nodded his approval.
still sat on the couch with narrowed eyes as he watched his mate and son acquaint the wolf with their home.
