Chapter 2
Inuyasha glared as the animal that rest on the couch at Kagome’s feet. Kai sat on the other side of the large animal and played on his small Game boy. Smiling slightly at the image of his son with his tongue out of the side of his mouth as he focused hard on the task at hand. Kagome’s mind was trapped in the book she was reading as she slowly moved her right foot so that it rubbed the animals chest that was laying on her feet. The animal seemed content with it’s new home as it’s eyes stayed closed and a small puff pushed it’s way past the wolf’s chops.
Inuyasha walked over to his mate and glared at the animal as it opened it’s bright blue eyes. A small growl rumbled in his chest as the dog growled back. Stopping abruptly Inuyasha leaned forward and wrapped his arms around Kagome’s waist, who seemed unaffected by it. He lifted her up and then quickly whirled her around so her back was to his chest. He fell back onto the couch cushion. Still acting as if she didn’t notice a thing Kagome leaned back against him and sighed happily as she ran her eyes over the last few pages of the book.
Looking over her shoulder she just noticed his presence behind her and smiled. “Oh, hey Inuyasha” she said and kissed his cheek lightly. Gold eyes glinting with mischief Inuyasha turned his head and captured Kagome’s lips in a sweet passionate kiss. Looking out the corner of his eyes he saw the wolf glaring at him and baring his fangs. Kai squealed in annoyance as he turned off his toy and put it on the table next to the couch.
“Stupid monkey king ate my banana” he growled out and then turned to the big brown ball of fur next to him. “Kouga! lets go play” he said and pounced on the dogs back and started to ruffle his fur. Kagome broke the kiss and looked at Kai with a small smile.
“I don’t think so, Time for your bath” she said and quickly got up and grabbed her son, hauling him up the stairs toward the bathroom. He kicked and screamed his protest while Kagome spun him around at the top of the steps. She put him down and he ran to his room hurriedly. With an exasperated sigh she followed and gathered his bath supplies from his room as he dug around in his drawer for clothes. Giggling she walked to the bathroom across the hall and waited for him.

Inuyasha glared at the animal and balled his hands into fists. He tried to suppress the question that he was dying to ask. The animal glared back before snorting and turning away. His temper raging Inuyasha couldn’t hold back.
-When the hell did you’re mistress let you go flea bag?!- Inuyasha barked at the animal and it barked back.
-Mistress?! You took my woman! What else do I have left?- The animal retorted and stood on the couch, fur standing on end as it growled.
-I car because of Kagome! She’s my mate and I won’t let anything happen to her or my pups!- The growls and barks got louder as the animalistic conversation continued.
-Why would I do anything to them! Or Kagome?! My business is with you! Kagome was my mate before your’s!- Kouga shouted and glared.
-You left her five hundred years ago you fucking wimpy wolf!- Inuyasha’s face began to turn red as his anger boiled within him.
-She ran away! It wasn’t my fault!- A deep growl and narrowed eyes accompanied Kouga’s accusation.
-She ran? You ran you lying sack of wolf shit!- Inuyasha yelled. -Running off to your precious Ayame! Kagome was heart broken when she found out not only that but she was pregnant too! She’s had to live with your memory every moment for four years just looking at Kai!- Inuyasha explained, beyond pissed at the denseness of the creature in front of him.
-Wha?!- The wolf looked stunned as he sat back on the cushion with wide blue eyes. -Kai... he’s my pup?- Kouga asked and looked toward the stairs where he could hear Kagome screaming and Kai laughing in victory.
-No he’s not! He’s my pup!- Inuyasha growled possessively and stood up. -he never was your’s and never will be!-
-wait a minute! You said something about me and Ayame! What was that all about?-
-You went to Ayame, Kagome told me everything the night she came back- Kouga blinked and cocked his head to the side.
-let me see....- Kouga thought and then laid down, his head on his paws. -Oh I get it now! It was about 500 years ago when you and Kagome went missing- Kouga sighed and closed his icy blue eyes.
-yeah and you disappeared as well- Smirking he eyed the animal and then gave a small chuckle.
-I still wanna know what happened- Inuyasha stated and started to look at his claws as he sat back down.
-That day, I was suppose to go to Ayame and talk about her mating proposal, but.. when I told her I couldn’t accept she got really mad and cast a spell on me. It wasn’t something that I expected from her, but she was just so mad. She told me that the day I mate with a youkai, or Human in this form I’ll be free, but it isn’t that simple- He growled his responded.-The hurt and anger I saw in her eyes made me feel guilty but I wasn’t about to let go of Kagome, after all she almost died once because of me- Inuyasha nodded and then shook his head.
-the past is the past, it’s best to leave it buried- He said and then leaned back against the couch.
-That’s funny coming from you dog shit- Kouga said and started to laugh.
-What’s that suppose to mean?!- Inuyasha shouted as he shot a glare to the wolf from the corner of his eye.
-I remember a miko woman... what was her name.... Kickyou or something like that?- Kouga asked with a toothy grin.
-it was Kikyou, and she’s dead- Inuyasha said, giving a warning growl.
-what’s the difference? Kickyou, Kikyou, it should be the same to you since that’s what she did. Kicked you around like the stupid dog you are- Kouga said and then yawned.
-shut the hell up wimpy wolf- Inuyasha growled before hearing a scream then a wet Kai wrapped in a towel dashing down the stairs, soap in his long hair. Running quickly into the living room he jumped over Kouga and onto Inuyasha’s lap.
“Daddy! Help me!” Kai shouted suppressing a giggle as he clung to Inuyasha, getting soap on his chin. A few moments later Kagome came running down the stairs, soaking wet.
“You are just like your father! Evil!” Kagome shouted as she stormed over to Inuyasha and pried Kai off with all her strength. He struggled and waved his arms as Kagome carried him toward the stairs.
“No! Daddy! Help!” Kai screamed till Kagome got in the bathroom.
Kouga lowered his ears at Kagome’s comment and stared at Kai longingly as he watched Inuyasha and his pup for the few moments that he had. A small sigh pushed past his chops as he licked them and then stared lazily at the cushion he was laying on.
-It’s not fair, I wish I were you right now... I want to hold Kagome just once, even Kai just once-Kouga lowered his ears and sighed again. -how does it feel?-
Inuyasha raised an eye brow at him and then leaned back against the couch.-what do you mean by that?-
-How do you feel when you hold Kai? If I can’t ever hold him, I at least want to know from someone who knows first hand what it feels like- Kouga growled mournfully.
-It’s just like holding a puppy, his attitude is what surprises me the most, he’s so kind like Kagome yet he’s like you in a way that ticks me off sometimes- Inuyasha said with a small smile, showing his fatherly pride.
-Can you do something for me?- Inuyasha looked at him with raised eye brows before nodding.-will you tell Kagome what happened and tell Kai about me?- Kouga asked as he let his head roll to the side as he sighed again. -another thing, when the hell did you become so understanding?- Kouga pointed out which made Inuyasha growl.
-as disgusting as this may sound, I am not bound to you through Kagome- Inuyasha said as his right eye brow began to twitch in annoyance.
-shut the fuck up and leave me alone now- Kouga said and yawned, slowly drifting to sleep as Inuyasha stood up and walked toward the stairs to go play with Mikomi and Akuma.
