Chapter 2

Flashback from previous chapter:

Kagome could hardly believe it when the lunch bell rang. She grinned, and jumped up from her chair. She looked around for Sango, and ran over to her when she found her. "Hey Sango! Want to get some lunch?"

Kagome and Sango decided to go to the restaurant across the street from their office, and once they got there, Kagome couldn't keep it in any longer. "I am serious Sango, that asshole is really getting to me! I don't even know what the hell I did to him, but for some stupid reason, he's got a grudge against me! Grrr it pisses me off so much!" Kagome sat there fuming for a minute while Sango thought over this carefully.

Sango giggled, and leaned over saying, "Maybe its not that he hates you … maybe he actually likes you, but can't find anyway to tell you!" Kagome fell out of her chair with an "eep" and blushed furiously as she got back in her seat. "Y...You must be joking Sango! Inu, like ME?" she snorted, and grinned, "Besides, even IF he somehow liked me even a little bit, he sure as hell cant flirt!"

They started laughing and Kagome thought to herself, `The weird thing is, we've known each other for so long. I mean, we used to be friends since high school, but ever since I rejected him for a date, he changed I guess…Maybe that's why?' Kagome shook her head, and looked at her watch. "Ah Sango, we'd better get going! Lunch break is almost over!" They quickly finished their lunch, and headed back to the office.

Over the next few days, Kagome managed to get to work on time, and Inuyasha wasn't bugging her as much. That thought about Inuyasha still not over her rejecting him was bugging Kagome like crazy. Finally, about a week later, she went up to inuyasha, pulled on his white hair, and said, "Hey Inu, I need to talk to you, NOW." Inuyasha snorted, and said, "whatever, just make it quick bitch." Kagome glared at him then dragged him into the hallway.

Kagome stopped, and turned to look at Inuyasha. "Ok Inu, I want to know what's up between you and me. I want to know WHY the hell you are always such a jerk around me! Is it because I rejected you in high school? Because if it is, then that's a stupid reason…" She stopped and waited for his answer.

Inuyasha growled at her, and said, "What the hell I don't have time for this bullshit." He turned to leave, but Kagome reached out and grabbed his hair, saying, "Please, I want to know why…Im sorry if I hurt you, please just tell me what I did wrong. We used to be such good friends in high school…" her voice broke, and she sniffed. Inuyasha stiffened was she crying? He thought to himself. He sighed, and said, "Ok, I'll talk, but not here. Come by my house later today for dinner." He turned around, and Kagome smiled at him. "Cool!"

~Later~

(Note from me: Its Saturday, and on Sundays its their day off for some people like Sango, Miroku, Inuyasha, Kagome and others that aren't mentioned in this fanfic…just thought you should know)

Kagome felt her heart pounding as she stood in front of the door. She was at Inuyasha's house, and she couldn't bring herself to knock on the door. `Come ON Kagome! Its not like you haven't been to a guy's house before!' she thought to herself `ah, but it has been a while…' said a voice in the back of her head `what if he tries to do…something?' Kagome shook her head and thought furiously, `Shut up! Inuyasha isn't like that, he would never do something to me like take advantage of me…' Kagome blushed at the thought. `Come on! Besides, your still a virgin, what if you give in to temptation? Hmmm? Ever think of that?' Kagome blushed even redder, and thought, `WHATEVER. I will knock on the door and I will get to the bottom of this, without giving into temptation!' She lifted her hand, and knocked on the door.

Inuyasha opened the door, and said, "C'mon in." Kagome blushed lightly, and walked inside. She looked around the room in surprise; it was so clean! Kagome had half-expected it to be messy, since the Inuyasha she knew in h.s. (High school) was a messy person.

They sat down to dinner, and Kagome was really surprised to find that the food tasted so good. Inuyasha scowled at her shocked face, and said, "What, you didn't think I could cook?" He snorted, then did a little half-smile. Kagome stuck out her tongue at him, and said, "I just never knew you could cook so well…Its been quite a while since we've talked…"

Inuyasha frowned, and sighed, "Well…I know you want to know why I've been treating you like shit for the past year or so. Its not entirely because of you, but it also has to do a lot with my entire life…When we finish I'll tell you the whole story." Inuyasha blushed faintly, a little embarrassed that he would be telling Kagome all about his life, especially since he'd never opened up to anybody before.

After they finished their dinner, Inuyasha and Kagome went into the living room, and sat down on the couch. Kagome looked at inuyasha, and said, "Inuyasha, I would really like to know why you were always treating me so cruelly…Is the reason for that beause I rejected you in High School, and don't hesitate to tell me, I'll listen."

Inuyasha said quietly, "Well, if you must know, it is partially because you rejected me in High School. When I first met you, you treated me kindly, even though everybody else at school treated me like shit, just because I was different. I never really had friends when I was younger, and so you being nice to me was a huge change. I grew to like you more and more, and then finally, one day I realized I loved you. I, Inuyasha, was in love with you. When I asked you out, I prayed you felt the same way about me, but when you rejected me, it killed me." He paused.

Kagome felt so horrible, she never wanted to hurt Inuyasha, but apparently, she did. Inuyasha began again, "My mother died when I was really young, and I never knew my father that well. My bastard half-brother was no angel either. He would often torment me about everything. I grew up in a life without love. That wasn't the only thing…I…Im not sure how to say this, but…imnothuman!" Kagome looked confused and said, "huh? What did you say? You were talking to fast for me to understand."

Inuyasha said slowly, "I…am…not…a…human…I am a half demon. My father was a demon, and my mother a human. I know it seems crazy, but its true that there are still demons living in modern Japan. I…Your probably going to hate me because of this, and its ok if you do. Im used to people hating me for it…" His voice broke off, and his face grew angry.

Kagome felt so guilty, why hadn't she just said yes? Then Inuyasha would have had to go through all this pain. Kagome felt a tear run down her cheek and Inuyasha immediately felt uneasy. "Oi, don't cry now, come on, stop…" he said, and Kagome shook her head, saying, "Its not that, its just that, I wish I had known. I feel horrible, I put you through so much pain and sorrow."

Kagome looked up at Inuyasha, her eyes filled with tears, and she quickly put her arms around him, and gave him a huge hug. She whispered into his ear, "I don't care what you are, hanyou, human, demon, it doesn't matter to me. I now realize what I didn't realize before…I…I really like you…maybe I could even love you…please forgive me."

Kagome kissed Inuyasha on the cheek. Inuyasha blushed, and looked at Kagome's face. He cupped her face in his hands, and brought Kagome's lips to his. He licked her lips, and she opened her mouth, feeling passion run throughout her entire body. She wanted to stay like this forever…

Oooh lala! Lots of WAFF! Hehehe I hope you liked this and hopefully this answers your unanswered questions about why inuyasha had a grudge against Kagome.

Basically he couldn't stand the fact that he was rejected by the only person he had ever loved, and went into a stage of denial. This is just to make it sweet n' simple. Hope you liked this chapter, and please, I want feedback!!!
