InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Worth Waiting For ❯ Epilogue ( Chapter 28 )
Disclaimer: I only own Nozomi, Ryu, and Tora, but I won’t give up hope!
28. Epilogue
As Kagome had predicted, Sango and Miroku decided to marry and leave the cave dwelling. They built a small home a short distance outside the village closest to the cave where they lived with Kohaku. By fall, they would have nearly instant communication with the family in the cave, as Kirara had unexpectedly presented them with four miniature copies of herself. Though their colors and markings greatly resembled those of their mother, there were small differences that made it possible to tell them apart. One would be given to the village, while another would go to the hanyou and his family.
As Inuyasha had hoped, his mate conceived once again by the stream during their short vacation. What he never expected were the identical twin sons that were the absolute image of their father. Even from the first, Ryu and Tora had more of their father’s restless spirit than their mother’s gentle disposition. Despite this, they were staunch self-proclaimed protectors of their older sister, and were easily kept in line by the threat of their mother’s displeasure--like their father, they detested seeing the human woman unhappy.
With the addition of Kouga’s two shards, the Shikon no Tama was complete. Although they had considered simply keeping it to guard it from enemy youkai, neither of them wanted to burden their family’s future generations with such a heavy responsibility. In the end, Inuyasha decided to use the jewel to open the well portal for themselves, their friends, and their families from both sides permanently. Souta even chose to spend some of his school vacations with his sister and her family. As a result, his grades in history and classical Japanese literature improved significantly.
Kagome resumed her training with Kaede, and progressed to the point where she would never be in danger of losing another pup to the tremendous energies she commanded. As the old miko had predicted, the village would have an inuhanyou component to its population for a very long time to come.
On the third Christmas in the cave home, Kagome’s family from the future came to visit for the holiday. As they all sat around the home’s large public room, Kagome looked around at the group gathered there, thinking that her life couldn’t possibly be more perfect. As her mate’s hand closed gently on her shoulder, she looked up at him and smiled. Then again, maybe it could….
A/N: This is the end. It’s been fun, especially considering that this started out as a PWP one-shot. Go figure….
